Chapter 296 : The Unconscious Power

The air around the cemetery and Aston Village grew heavier and heavier. Several knights in Aston Village seemed unable to withstand the heavy air, making it difficult for them to breathe. One by one, they began to collapse and fall unconscious.

"This pressure...is getting stronger and stronger. This pressure is even stronger than what Her Majesty the Queen....usually exerts,"

"Yes, you're right...I can't take it anymore...I think I'm going to faint soon," said the knights who were chatting.

After that, the knights immediately collapsed and fell unconscious.

-

Meanwhile, at the academy cemetery.

Commander Keira, Miss Karina, Irene, and Viscount Ivan appeared to be still struggling to breathe.

"The air around this place is getting heavier and heavier. If this continues, I might not be able to hold on," said Viscount Ivan.

"Hold on, Sir Ivan. I'm sure this pressure will disappear soon," said Commander Keira.

After that, Commander Keira walked over to Miss Karina. Commander Keira then began whispering something to Miss Karina.

"Ms. Principal, the aura pressure we're feeling is clearly coming from Rid Archie. I can't believe he can emit this much aura pressure, even surpassing the aura pressure Her Majesty the Queen usually emits," Commander Keira said.

"Yes, I didn't expect it myself. This is the first time I've seen Rid emit this much aura pressure. During his time under my supervision at the academy, he never emitted even the slightest aura pressure. Perhaps the reason he's emitting this much aura pressure is because he's feeling emotional while seeing the graves of his villagers," said Miss Karina.

"It seems so. We have to do something, Ms. Principal. If we don't, this aura pressure will only get stronger. Even the two of us won't be able to survive if it gets any stronger," Commander Keira said.

"Yes, you're right, Commander," said Miss Karina.

Miss Karina and Commander Keira were about to do something, but suddenly Irene ran past them. Irene ran towards Rid, who was standing in front of the new graves. Commander Keira and Miss Karina were shocked to see Irene running past them.

"Irene?!?!," said Miss Karina.

"Princess Irene?!?!," said Commander Keira.

Irene continued running towards Rid. Then, when she was close to him, Irene immediately hugged him from behind.

"Rid...," said Irene, hugging him from behind.

Meanwhile, as I was looking at the new graves, I was startled when someone hugged me from behind. I immediately turned to see who was hugging me. When I turned around, it was Irene.

"Irene? Why are you suddenly hugging me from behind?" I asked.

"Rid... Please stop, Rid," said Irene.

I don't know why Irene told me to stop when I wasn't doing anything.

"Why are you asking me to stop? I wasn't doing anything except looking at the villagers' graves," I said.

"The air feels heavy...so I'm asking you to stop," Irene said.

"The air feels heavy? But, doesn't the air feel normal right now? The air doesn't feel heavy at all," I said.

Irene was shocked after hearing my words and immediately released her hug. She was shocked as if she had just discovered something surprising.

"You're right, the air has returned to normal," Irene said, surprised.

"It's not back to normal, but the air has been like this since I arrived," I said.

Irene looked shocked and confused after hearing my words.

"Weren't you the one who made the air heavy, Rid?" Irene asked.

"No, I didn't do anything. I've been just watching the graves of the Aston villagers without doing anything. That's why I was surprised that you suddenly hugged me and told me to stop, even though I didn't do anything," I said.

"Hmm, is that so," Irene said.

Irene fell silent after saying that.

"This is strange. I clearly feel that this heavy air is coming from the pressure of Rid's aura. Why does Rid say he didn't do anything?" Irene thought.

Irene seemed to be thinking about something, so I decided to talk to her again.

"Could it be that you're hallucinating, making the air feel heavy when it's actually not?" I asked.

"Hmm, maybe so," Irene said.

"Hmm, let's forget about that. Anyway, I'm done visiting the graves of the Aston villagers and want to return to Miss Karina's. Would you like to come with me, Irene?" I asked.

"Yes," Irene said.

Then the two of us walked to Miss Karina, Commander Keira, and Viscount Ivan. When we arrived, they immediately approached Irene and me.

"Good job, Irene, you managed to calm Rid down," Miss Karina said.

"Calm me down? I've been fine all this time, Miss," I said, confused.

"When you visited the graves of the Aston villagers, you must have been very emotional, right, Rid? And when you're emotional, you emit a very strong aura that makes the air around this place heavy," Miss Karina said.

I felt confused after hearing Miss Karina's words.

"I do feel emotional, Miss. But I didn't emit a particularly strong aura. Miss said the air around this place became heavy, and Irene said so too. I previously thought Irene was hallucinating, but seeing as you felt it, it seems like it wasn't. However, I didn't feel the air around this place becoming heavy, and I didn't do anything, Miss," I said.

Miss Karina looked a little surprised after hearing my words.

"Are you sure you didn't do anything like emit a strong aura when you visited the graves of the Aston villagers?" Miss Karina asked.

"Yes, Miss. I didn't do anything; I was just observing the graves," I said.

Miss Karina then fell silent, seemingly contemplating something.

"Rid seemed honest when he said he didn't do anything. However, that powerful aura pressure was clearly coming from Rid. Why did he say he didn't emit it? This is truly strange. Could it be that he emitted it without realizing it? That's why he said he didn't emit it because he wasn't aware he was," thought Miss Karina.

After a moment of silence, pondering something, Miss Karina spoke again.

"Ok if you say you didn't do anything. Let's just forget about this and consider it a strange phenomenon occurring here," said Miss Karina.

"Yes, Miss," I said.

Irene, Commander Keira, and Viscount Ivan seemed to agree with Miss Karina.

"You're done visiting the graves of the Aston villagers, right, Rid? Then let's return to the village," said Miss Karina.

"Wait a moment, Miss. I still have one more grave to visit. I have to visit my grandfather's grave first," I said.

"Ok, then I'll wait here," said Miss Karina.

"Yes, Miss," I said.

"I'll come with you, Rid," said Irene.

"It's fine if you want to come with me. Let's go now," I said.

"Yes," said Irene.

Then Irene and I went to my grandfather's grave, which was on a different side from the other new graves I had just visited.

Meanwhile, while Rid and Irene were going to Rid's grandfather's grave, Commander Keira and Miss Karina were chatting.

"It seems you immediately believed Rid Archie when he said he didn't do anything, Ms. Principal. It's clear that the intense aura pressure came from Rid Archie," said Commander Keira.

"The intense aura pressure did come from Rid, but he released it without realizing it. That's why he said he didn't do anything when the intense aura pressure appeared because he didn't know he had released that much aura pressure," said Miss Karina.

"It was truly unexpected. He could emit such a powerful aura without even realizing it," said Commander Keira, shocked.

"Yes, that was truly unexpected. For now, it's best to keep the fact that Rid can emit such powerful aura a secret," said Miss Karina.

"Very well," said Commander Keira.

-

15 minutes later.

After visiting my grandfather's grave, we decided to return to Aston village. When we arrived, we were shocked to see many unconscious soldiers. Commander Keira, shocked to see so many of her knights unconscious, immediately questioned the ones who were still conscious.

"Hey, what happened? Why are they all unconscious?" Commander Keira asked.

"They all became unconscious because they couldn't withstand the heavy air pressure that appeared earlier. I was almost at my wits' end, Commander, but the heavy air pressure suddenly disappeared. That's why I was still conscious and didn't join them," said a knight who was questioned by Commander Keira.

"I see, so they all became unconscious because they couldn't withstand the aura pressure that appeared earlier. I didn't expect the aura pressure to be felt all the way to Aston village, even though the cemetery is quite far from Aston village," said Commander Keira.

"So, the commander felt it too, huh? Do you know who emitted that heavy aura? I noticed that this aura is similar to the one Her Majesty often emits when she's angry, but the pressure I felt earlier was stronger than Her Majesty usually emits," the soldier said.

"I don't know who emitted that powerful aura either. It could have been the perpetrator who attacked this village or someone else who happened to be passing by. We must be careful because there could be another attack," said Commander Keira.

"Yes, Commander," said the soldier.

"For now, please revive those who are still unconscious," said Commander Keira.

"Yes, Commander," said the soldier.

Then the knights began gathering the other knights who were still conscious. They then began to disperse to revive the unconscious knights.

Meanwhile, I was confused as I looked at the unconscious knights.

"They were unconscious because they couldn't withstand the immense aura pressure that had appeared earlier. Just as Irene and Miss Karina had said, there was a tremendous aura pressure that had appeared and was making it difficult for them to breathe. But why didn't I feel it at all?"

"Then Miss Karina said that I was the one emitting that immense aura pressure. But I didn't feel it at all. I didn't do anything. This is truly strange," I thought.

-

A few minutes later, the unconscious knights began to wake up one by one. After that, Irene, Miss Karina, and I decided to stay in the village at least until midday.

Then, when it was already midday, the three of us took our leave of Commander Keira and Viscount Ivan.

"Sir Ivan, I'll take my leave to return to the academy," I said.

"Yes, be careful on the road, Rid. As for the dead Aston villagers, don't think too much about them. I'm afraid it will burden you and distract you," said Viscount Ivan.

"Yes, sir. I'll try not to think too much about them," I said.

"Very well then," said Viscount Ivan.

"Then I'll take my leave, Commander Keira and all the knights," I said.

"Yes, be careful on the road," said Commander Keira.

"Be careful," said the knights.

"Yes, thank you, everyone," I said.

Then I immediately reboarded the horse-drawn carriage that had taken us to Aston Village. Inside, Irene was already sitting, looking at me. Meanwhile, Miss Karina was still outside the carriage, saying goodbye to the others.

"I'll take my leave, Sir Ivan, Commander Keira," said Miss Karina.

"Yes, be careful, Ms. Principal," said Viscount Ivan and Commander Keira.

Then, Miss Karina immediately boarded the carriage. After Irene, Miss Karina, and I boarded the carriage, it began to move slowly and headed towards the capital of San Estella.

-

Meanwhile, in a tree-lined area quite far from Aston Village, Duchess Arnett was looking out at Aston Village from behind a tree. Duchess Arnett then took a communication crystal from her pocket and began contacting someone through it.

"Hello?" said a voice from the communication crystal.

"Hello, dear. I wanted to inform you that Rid Archie has left Aston Village," Duchess Arnett said in a flat voice.

"Hmm, I see. Alright, good job spying on them, dear," said the person behind the communication crystal, who turned out to be Duke Remy.

"Should we all chase after Rid Archie and kill him?" asked Duchess Arnett.

After Duchess Arnett said that, King Albert, Duchess Harriet, Duchess Claret, and Senior Florian suddenly appeared from behind the trees nearby.

"No need. Even if you all attack him, I doubt you can kill him. That kid's powers are still very mysterious, and I don't want to be reckless in attacking him again. I don't want any more of my pieces destroyed by him."

"We can deal with Rid Archie later. The important thing is that we've destroyed his village and killed everyone there who had any connection to him. We must shatter his mental state before dealing with him."

"Then, since you've completed the task I gave you, now return to my residence. I'll give you another task," said Duke Remy.

"Yes, dear. We'll all head there," said Duchess Arnett.

With that, the light on the communication crystal disappeared. Duchess Arnett then returned the communication crystal to her pocket. After putting it away, Duchess Arnett's hands suddenly began to tremble. Not only her hands, but her entire body was trembling. And it wasn't just Duchess Arnett; King Albert, Duchess Harriet, Duchess Claret, and Senior Florian were also trembling. Duchess Arnett looked confused as she watched her body tremble. Although she looked confused, Duchess Arnett showed no expression at all.

"For some reason, after feeling the aura of pressure emanating from that village, my body sometimes feels shaky. It's not just me; everyone else does too. This trembling, could it be fear?" Duchess Arnett said in a flat voice.
