Peace Hunter

Chapter 336 : Joint Attack

On the fifth floor of the academy's central building, Duke Louis and Duke Remy were locked in a fierce exchange of sword strikes. Duke Remy occasionally attacked Duke Louis using sharp tree roots that erupted from the floor and walls, but Duke Louis easily sliced through the roots aimed at him. Meanwhile, Duchess Arlet was tending to the knights of Duke San Lucia who had fallen victim to Duke Remy's attacks; she sealed their wounds with ice magic to stem the flow of blood, as she was unable to use actual healing magic. After treating the knights, she immediately moved to join Duke Louis, who was currently keeping his distance from Duke Remy.

"I've taken care of them, dear. Now, I'll help you," Duchess Arlet said, gripping her rapier.

"Are you alright? I mean, it hasn't even been a month since you woke from your long sleep," Duke Louis asked.

"I'm fine, dear I'm in peak condition. I'll help you kill Lord Remy—the man who tried to murder our entire family," Duchess Arlet declared.

"To be honest, I'm still worried about you, but if you want to help, I'll accept it," Duke Louis replied.

Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet prepared to launch an attack with their weapons, while Duke Remy smiled as he watched them.

"So, the two of you are teaming up to kill me? Even so, I doubt you can manage it, even working together," Duke Remy remarked.

Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet remained silent, offering no response to Duke Remy's words.

"Let's use that combined attack, dear," Duke Louis said.

"That combined attack... it's been so long since we used it. Very well, if that's what you want," Duchess Arlet agreed.

"In that case, let us begin," said Duke Louis.

With that, Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet dashed rapidly toward Duke Remy. Duke Remy, however, anticipated the move and immediately attacked the two as they closed in on him. He assaulted them with tree trunks erupting from the floor and walls, but Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet easily slashed through the wood. Having cut down the obstacles, they prepared to strike Duke Remy, who was now within close range. Transforming their weapons into ice, they launched a simultaneous slashing attack.

~San Lucia Art: Twin Freezing Air Slash~

The attack from Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet struck true; Duke Remy had no time to dodge or block. He took the hit head-on, and the parts of his body struck by the attack instantly froze solid.

Meanwhile, at Miss Violetta's place.

Miss Violetta was still engaged in combat with Duchess Harriet. Both women had sustained several injuries. Duchess Harriet was unleashing a rapid succession of slashes powered by ~Dark Magic~ at Miss Violetta. Miss Violetta managed to block the barrage with her ~Flower Shield~, but the shield could not hold for long; cracks were already beginning to spread across its surface. Seeing the damage to her shield, Miss Violetta decided to go on the offensive to force Duchess Harriet to stop her assault. She prepared her attack by stomping her foot firmly against the ground.

~Flower Magic: Crown of Thorns Raid~

A multitude of thorny vines erupted from the ground around Duchess Harriet, rapidly coiling around her body. Duchess Harriet, who was focused on attacking Miss Violetta, failed to dodge in time and was ensnared by the vines. Her body sustained numerous puncture wounds from the thorns as the thorny vines coiled tightly around her.

With her body trapped by the thorny vines, Duchess Harriet could no longer attack Miss Violetta. Seizing the opportunity, Miss Violetta swiftly darted toward Duchess Harriet to launch a counterattack. As Miss ioletta rushed in, Duchess Harriet was seen struggling to break free from the thorny vines' grasp. ~Dark Magic~. Duchess Harriet’s body began to be enveloped in a black aura—the aura of ~Dark Magic~. This black aura, which shrouded Duchess Harriet, also began to coat the thorny vines that were coiled around her. Miss Violetta was slightly startled upon seeing the black aura surrounding Duchess Harriet.

"Black aura? Is Miss Harriet attempting something?" Lady Violetta wondered.

Despite her surprise, Miss Violetta did not halt her advance; she continued to rush toward Duchess Harriet. Suddenly, the thorny vines—now coated in that black aura and still wrapped around Duchess Harriet exploded. Miss Violetta was shocked by the sight. Thorns from the vines shot out in every direction, including toward Miss Violetta herself. Having already closed the distance to Duchess Harriet, Miss Violetta had no time to dodge the flying thorns; they struck and pierced several parts of her body. Yet, even with the thorns piercing her, Miss Violetta did not stop; she pressed on toward Duchess Harriet. Freed from the thorny vines, Duchess Harriet immediately prepared to attack the approaching Miss Violetta.

However, Miss Violetta moved swiftly, reaching Duchess Harriet before the Duchess could launch her attack. Upon closing the distance, Miss Violetta touched the center of Duchess Harriet’s chest with the tip of her sword.

"Forgive me, Miss Harriet. To defeat you, I must use a technique capable of destroying your beautiful body," Lady Violetta said.

~Flower Magic: Sunflowers Bloom~

At that moment, the spot on Duchess Harriet’s chest touched by Miss Violetta’s sword tip suddenly exploded and shattered. It was not just her chest; her entire body was destroyed, leaving behind only her head, arms, and legs—severed at the waist. Duchess Harriet's severed limbs fell to the ground. Miss Violetta then sheathed her sword at her waist and looked down at the remains lying on the earth.

"You may rest in peace now; once again, I apologize, Miss Harriet," Miss Violetta said.

At Miss Karina's place.

Duchess Claret, already bearing several wounds, was battling the tree-knights that were attacking her. She shattered the wooden knights with punches and kicks imbued with ~Dark Magic~, as well as with her small gun, which fired bullets formed from ~Dark Magic~. Meanwhile, Miss Karina—who had also sustained injuries watched the clash between Duchess Claret and her tree-knights.

"I must defeat Lady Claret quickly; I need to find an opening to land a fatal blow," Miss Karina thought.

Although Duchess Claret was steadily destroying the tree-knight Lady Karina had created, Karina kept summoning more, forcing Duchedd Claret to fight them ceaselessly. Moments later, the tree-knights managed to surround Duchess Claret from every direction. Seeing this, Duchess Claret continued to smash them with strikes enveloped in ~Dark Magic~. Yet, despite having destroyed several of them, a vast number of tree-knights still encircled her.

Then, while the tree-knights had Claret surrounded, Miss Karina slipped through their ranks to close the distance. She maneuvered through the wooden knights until she was right next to Duchess Claret, separated from her by only a single tree-knights. Afterward, Miss Karina prepared to strike Duchess Claret and swiftly launched an attack. However, before she could fully execute her move, Duchess Claret suddenly unleashed a thrusting attack against the tree knight standing in front of Miss Karina. She drove her right hand—now wreathed in Dark Magic straight through the tree knights body, piercing all the way to the other side. Her thrust, having punched through the knight, continued on toward Miss Karina, who was positioned directly behind it.

The thrust struck Lady Karina in the stomach; the movement—piercing through the tree knights before reaching her happened so rapidly that she had no time to block or evade it. Moreover, she had been preparing to launch an attack against Duchess Claret, leaving her unaware of the incoming strike. Duchess Claret’s thrust attack began to pierce Miss Karina’s abdomen. Initially, it was merely a shallow wound, but it deepened as Duchess Claret attempted to drive the thrust all the way through. However, Miss Karina immediately halted the thrust, preventing it from penetrating deeply by gripping Duchess Claret’s right arm with her own left hand.

"I never expected you to detect my presence, considering I had infiltrated the ranks of my own tree knights. You even attacked me the moment you realized I was there. My plan to strike you first failed because you immediately counterattacked and stabbed my stomach. But..." Miss Karina said.

She then raised her right hand, which held her sword.

"...I had anticipated this possibility. So, even though my initial plan failed, I had a backup plan to defeat you. Now, die and depart in peace, Miss Claret," Lady Karina declared.

She then swung her sword, unleashing a slash at Duchess Claret, who stood right before her.

~Plant Sword Art Secret Technique: Manchineel Death Slash~

Miss Karina’s blade struck true, aiming straight for Duchess Claret’s neck. The blow landed with devastating precision, instantly severing Duchess Claret’s head from her body.
