Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 130: An Object Hidden Under the Pagoda Tree’Since Zhang Chong is the head butler and is also responsible for taking care of Elder Luo, he must hold a very high position in the Luofu.’
’But for Zhang Chong to have a locust tree planted here... his intentions are clearly malicious. This man is definitely no good.’
"Locust trees attract yin. There’s a cold, sinister aura under this tree. I suspect a Yin Talisman is buried here,"
Chen Qingdi said.
After speaking, Chen Qingdi glanced at Gong Liangbu.
Gong Liangbu understood immediately. He crouched down and started digging.
Soon, he dug up a cloth-wrapped bundle from beneath the locust tree.
Inside the bundle was a Yin Talisman inscribed with Elder Luo’s date of birth. There was also a small effigy, riddled with needles, that had Elder Luo’s full name written on its back.
How could Luo Longsheng not understand what this meant?
He wasn’t an idiot.
"Get Zhang Chong over here now!"
Luo Longsheng said furiously.
The Luo Family’s men hurried off to find Zhang Chong, but after searching everywhere, they couldn’t find him.
The man was nowhere to be found.
When he saw his men scurrying back empty-handed, he knew what had happened.
"Couldn’t find him?"
Luo Longsheng asked.
"That’s right."
"He wasn’t in his quarters. We searched elsewhere in the Luofu and asked around, but no one knows where he went,"
one of the bodyguards said.
"Forget it. Stop looking,"
Luo Longsheng said.
Chen Qingdi, however, was staring at the Yin Talisman and the effigy, his gaze turning cold.
"Such a vicious person."
"However, the mastermind probably isn’t Zhang Chong."
"He’s just a butler; he wouldn’t know about these things,"
Chen Qingdi said.
"Burn all of this,"
Chen Qingdi ordered.
"Right."
Luo Longsheng nodded and quickly burned the Yin Talisman and the effigy.
Once they were burned, Chen Qingdi said urgently, "Take me to Elder Luo, quickly."
"This way,"
Luo Longsheng said.
Luo Longsheng strode forward.
They passed through a small garden and followed several winding paths before arriving at a pavilion.
Luo Longsheng stopped in front of a door.
It was quiet, but numerous Luo Family bodyguards stood watch, a clear sign of how seriously Luo Longsheng took his father’s security.
"Is Elder Luo in there?"
Chen Qingdi asked, glancing at Luo Longsheng.
"Yes, he’s in here."
Luo Longsheng nodded.
Chen Qingdi didn’t enter immediately. Instead, he glanced down from the pavilion and spotted someone skulking about. The moment the person noticed Chen Qingdi’s gaze, they quickly ducked back into hiding.
That person was clearly suspicious, but Chen Qingdi didn’t mention it to Luo Longsheng just yet.
’After all, the most important thing right now is saving Elder Luo.’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
Luo Longsheng had first knocked gently on the door, but the room was completely silent; there was no response.
So, he shoved the door hard, pushing it open.
The scene inside shocked him.
The two servants who were supposed to be guarding Elder Luo were collapsed on the floor. Worse, Elder Luo’s bed was stained with a large pool of fresh blood.
Seeing this, Luo Longsheng rushed to Elder Luo’s side.
"Dad! Dad!"
Luo Longsheng cried out.
But no matter how much he called, Elder Luo didn’t react.
Luo Longsheng quickly determined that his father’s heart had stopped.
Luo Longsheng had no idea what had happened here.
’There are bodyguards right outside, so how could something like this happen without them hearing anything?’
"My dad... his heart has stopped,"
Luo Longsheng said, his face filled with grief.
"Move aside. Let me take a look,"
Chen Qingdi said.
"Okay."
Luo Longsheng quickly made way.
Chen Qingdi strode to Elder Luo’s side. After carefully checking his pulse, he confirmed it was gone.
Chen Qingdi, however, remained perfectly calm.
He lifted Elder Luo’s eyelids to check his eyes, then turned to face Luo Longsheng.
"Don’t worry. I can save Elder Luo."
Chen Qingdi said with complete confidence.
"Really?"
Luo Longsheng asked, his expression full of disbelief.
"Of course. I will use the Nineteen Yang Reviving Needles to save your father,"
Chen Qingdi stated.
Luo Longsheng had never heard of these so-called Nineteen Yang Reviving Needles.
But seeing the confidence on Chen Qingdi’s face, Luo Longsheng chose to trust him.
’Besides, it’s not like there are any other options left. He had to take the chance.’
"Gong Liangbu, lay Elder Luo flat on the floor."
"It will make it easier for me to perform the acupuncture,"
Chen Qingdi instructed.
"Yes, sir."
Gong Liangbu hurried over and did as he was told.
"President Mu, go help Gong Liangbu."
"Also, clean up the blood on the floor, quickly."
"And get these two servants out of here. They’re in my way,"
Chen Qingdi commanded.
"Yes, yes, of course!"
Mu Xinlei nodded hurriedly.
Meanwhile, Luo Longsheng called in the servants from outside to help clean up the room.
Soon, the two unconscious servants were carried out.
Chen Qingdi could tell they were fine.
They had merely fainted and would wake up soon.
’Elder Luo’s condition, however, required immediate attention.’
’He had lost a lot of blood, after all.’
The blood was flowing from his head.
’In other words, before we arrived, someone snuck into this room, knocked out the servants, and tried to kill Elder Luo. They must have been scared off by the sound of our approaching footsteps.’
’And in all likelihood, the assailant thinks Elder Luo is already dead.’
Once everything was in order, Chen Qingdi stared intently at Elder Luo on the floor. The man’s life force was nearly severed. Without the Nineteen Yang Reviving Needles, he wouldn’t make it.
He would also have to infuse a trace of his own Spiritual Energy to reactivate the old man’s vital functions.
’After I save Elder Luo, there’s still more to be done,’ Chen Qingdi thought.
’For instance, this pervasive aura of death hanging over the Luo Family needs to be dealt with. I have to find out who’s behind it, or it’ll just be treating the symptoms, not the root cause.’
’Luo Longsheng’s curse also needs to be handled. Letting it drag on will be disastrous for him.’
Chen Qingdi really had no idea who the Luo Family could have offended to warrant such an elaborate and vicious attack.
The thought of it all gave Chen Qingdi a headache.
’In the end, all of this would probably fall on his shoulders.’
