Patriarch Zheng was overjoyed, almost to the point of disbelief.
"Really?"
"That's just wonderful."
For a moment, Patriarch Zheng still couldn't quite believe it.
"The toxin has now congealed into poisonous nodules—these small, sapling-like growths on his body."
"I just need to remove these nodules, and he'll be fine."
Chen Qingdi said.
"That's fantastic. Thank you for your efforts, Divine Physician Chen."
Patriarch Zheng said gratefully.
"You're welcome. I'm a bit tired, so I'll leave the procedure of removing the nodules to Senior Situ Xian. This is second nature to him; there's no difficulty."
Chen Qingdi said with a smile.
"Alright. Since Divine Physician Chen has so much faith in me, it would be improper for me not to do it."
Situ Xian said with a smile.
"Haha, that's the spirit."
Chen Qingdi smiled and nodded.
Chen Qingdi then rested to the side while Situ Xian began to excise the poisonous nodules from Young Master Zheng's body.
Soon, soybean-sized nodules were scraped off, one by one. In total, there were one hundred and three of them all over his body.
Once finished, Situ Xian handed all the nodules to Chen Qingdi for him to deal with.
But after taking the nodules, Chen Qingdi placed them into his pouch.
These were nodules that others would avoid like the plague, yet Chen Qingdi put them straight into his pouch. This startled Situ Xian.
"What do you want with these things?"
Situ Xian asked, his face full of confusion.
"I have my uses for them, naturally. Don't worry. Rest assured, I'll be fine."
Chen Qingdi said with a smile.
"Even poisonous nodules have their uses, especially a mutated strain from the Blood Dragon Drill's toxin."
"They have immense value for research."
Chen Qingdi said.
"It's too dangerous. I wouldn't dare do something like that myself. But if you insist, I won't stop you."
Situ Xian said.
In truth, Situ Xian wanted to ask about his son, but with people all around and Patriarch Zheng standing nearby, he held his tongue.
Chen Qingdi could tell, however, that he was desperate to ask about his son.
"When will my son wake up?"
Patriarch Zheng glanced at Chen Qingdi.
"He will wake up in about two hours."
"And he'll be able to get out of bed and move around."
Chen Qingdi said.
Hearing this, Patriarch Zheng was ecstatic.
"That's wonderful news."
Patriarch Zheng said happily.
Just then, Chen Qingdi glanced at Patriarch Zheng again, and what he saw was alarming. A faint layer of black, wispy mist was drifting around the Patriarch's body.
This black mist was something only an exceptionally perceptive Martial Artist could notice; it was invisible to ordinary people.
"Patriarch Zheng, have you been feeling a bit off lately?"
"Or perhaps extremely unwell?"
Chen Qingdi said.
"No."
Patriarch Zheng shook his head.
"In that case, has the Zheng Family recruited any new Martial Artists recently?"
Chen Qingdi asked.
"We have Martial Artists joining the Zheng Family periodically. It's a normal occurrence. Why do you ask?"
Patriarch Zheng asked with a confused expression.
"It's nothing."
Chen Qingdi calmly shook his head.
Patriarch Zheng knew, however, that Chen Qingdi wouldn't have asked without a reason.
Still, Patriarch Zheng thought it over carefully and confirmed that he hadn't felt any discomfort or anything unusual lately.
"Can I move my son into the indoor resting room now?"
Patriarch Zheng asked.
"Yes, you can."
Chen Qingdi nodded immediately.
Patriarch Zheng quickly gestured to the family servants, who promptly moved Young Master Zheng inside.
Zheng Shifang stayed by his son's side, and it was clear that Zheng Yuanchang's condition was steadily improving.
Ever since the poisonous nodules were removed, the dark color of his skin had faded, and some color had returned to his pale face.
Meanwhile, Chen Qingdi and Situ Xian were in the Zheng Family's living room, engaged in conversation.
"Divine Physician Chen, let's go for a walk!"
Situ Xian gestured for Chen Qingdi to join him, inviting him for a walk.
Chen Qingdi knew Situ Xian's gesture meant he had something to discuss privately.
"Alright."
Chen Qingdi quickly nodded.
No one stopped them.
When they reached a flower bed in the rear courtyard and saw that no one was around, Situ Xian quickly asked, "About my son... have you had a chance to look into it? Is he safe?"
Chen Qingdi shook his head.
"I haven't had a chance. Someone tried to kill me yesterday."
Chen Qingdi said.
At this, Situ Xian's brow furrowed slightly. This was an outcome he hadn't expected.
"Someone tried to kill you? Who was it?"
Situ Xian asked.
"First, it was Zhuge Yunduan. The brat thought I possessed some secret manual after seeing me use the Sixteen Immortal Needles, so he wanted to kill me and take my treasures."
"Then, the Martial Medicine Association captured several of my sworn brothers to lure me to them. They also wanted to kill me, but I managed to deal with them. I just didn't have time to look into your son's situation."
"But rest assured, I'll investigate immediately. Besides, I believe that with your status, they wouldn't dare harm your son."
"After all, they want something from you—the Spirit Jade Fragment."
"I suspect they'll be coming to you very soon."
Chen Qingdi said.
"That's possible. When they do, I'll just tell them I lost the Spirit Jade Fragment to make them give up."
Situ Xian said.
"No. Tell them the Spirit Jade Fragment is with me."
"That way, they'll come looking for me, which will give me a chance to see your son."
Chen Qingdi said.
"But why go to all that trouble? It will put you in a very passive and dangerous position. If it comes to that, I might as well just give them the Spirit Jade Fragment directly."
Situ Xian said.
"Don't worry. I will transfer the Spiritual Energy from your fragment into another piece of jade. The original will be nothing more than Wasted Jade, but we'll have a replica to give them. At least this way, we'll get a chance to see your son. We can't let that opportunity go."
Chen Qingdi said.
As Chen Qingdi spoke, he continued to analyze the potential scenarios for Situ Xian.
Only then did Situ Xian realize what a calm, intelligent, and shrewd person Chen Qingdi was.
'It's a good thing I gave the Spirit Jade Fragment to Chen Qingdi and forged this connection. Perhaps I can really rely on his wisdom to save my son.'
'If I'd handed the Spirit Jade Fragment directly to the Luo Family, there's no telling if they would have actually released him.'
'The Luo Family has always been ruthless in their methods, and I've already offended them in the past.'
