Peerless Medical Emperor

Chapter 72: Eight Trigrams Tribulation

Ever since they were sucked inside by the mysterious iron hook, Murong Fei and his companions had been pacing back and forth within the great hall. They wanted to leave as quickly as possible, but they hadn’t succeeded.

It seemed that leaving this place would be no easy task.

"Didn’t we just come from the east side? There’s no way out there."

"We can only try other directions."

Master Hei said with a wry smile.

"What the hell is this place? It feels like a massive, mobile space."

"But how could something like this exist in the Golden Armor River?"

"It’s just bizarre."

Zhao Tong shook his head with a wry smile.

Although Murong Fei and Qingyan had come down first, Mu Qingfeng, Master Hei, and the others followed not long after.

They had been searching for an exit for a long time, but so far had found nothing. They could only wander around in circles.

"That iron hook that pulled us in earlier seems to have vanished."

"I don’t know where it went."

As Guan Shanyuan spoke, his eyes scanned their surroundings, but after a long search, he found nothing.

"I wonder if the Medical Emperor and the others have arrived."

"They wouldn’t just abandon us, would they?"

Qingyan said, her eyes constantly scanning their surroundings.

"Of course the Medical Emperor wouldn’t abandon us."

"I’m sure he’ll be here soon."

said Mu Qingfeng.

"Quick, look! What’s that up ahead?"

Zhao Tong had suddenly spotted some towering trees up ahead.

"They look like massive trees."

"But trees growing in a place like this... they’re probably part of a mechanism, I’d wager."

said Master Hei.

"Murong Fei, aren’t mechanisms your specialty?"

"Are those trees part of a mechanism?"

Guan Shanyuan asked.

"I’m not sure. I won’t know until I get closer and have a look."

said Murong Fei.

"Well, they’re not far. We might as well go take a look."

"We might discover something. Either way, we can’t just keep waiting around in this damned place."

said Zhao Tong.

With that, they all headed toward the trees.

When they reached them, Master Hei and the others examined the trees closely.

"Let me count them."

"One... two... three..."

"Okay, I’ve got them all. There are twenty-seven trees in total."

"But they don’t look like they pose any threat to us."

said Master Hei.

"Whether they’re dangerous or not... there’s an easy way to find out."

As he spoke, Zhao Tong walked up to one of the trees and struck it with his palm.

BOOM!

The tree was instantly shattered to pieces.

"See? They’re just ordinary trees. Nothing for you all to worry about."

said Zhao Tong.

But to his astonishment, even though he had shattered the tree, it quickly grew back again.

"This is..."

For a moment, Zhao Tong was too stunned to speak.

"What in the world is going on? I’m totally baffled."

Zhao Tong looked at Murong Fei.

"Everyone, back up. This might be dangerous."

"I’m going to check if there’s a mechanism among these trees."

Murong Fei said to his companions beside him.

His companions quickly backed away.

Once they had all retreated, Murong Fei slowly walked forward.

Qingyan and the others watched Murong Fei intently, anxious to see if he would make any headway.

"I wonder if Chen Yuan and the Medical Emperor have arrived yet."

"And if they have, I wonder if they’ve managed to find us."

said Zhao Tong.

"I’m sure the Medical Emperor came here with Chen Yuan."

"They must be looking for us."

"Should we try to make some noise to get the Medical Emperor’s attention?"

said Mu Qingfeng.

"Let’s wait a bit. First, let’s see what’s happening with Murong Fei."

"I just feel that for these trees to appear here so abruptly, there has to be something unusual about them."

said Guan Shanyuan.

"That’s right. Murong Fei, you have to be careful!"

Master Hei called out to Murong Fei.

"Okay, I know!"

Murong Fei nodded quickly.

Murong Fei was now weaving his way back and forth among the trees.

But so far, Murong Fei had found no trace of any mechanisms.

And yet, the giant black iron pipes that had suddenly appeared in the water, and the hook that had extended from them—all of it was clearly controlled by mechanisms.

They had likely been pulled into the very heart of a mechanism.

In other words, this might be a grand hall of mechanisms.

They had to be extremely careful in this hall. The slightest mistake could lead to an irreversible outcome.

That was a scenario Murong Fei was not willing to face.

As he walked forward, Murong Fei suddenly stopped. Something felt wrong.

"What’s wrong?"

Guan Shanyuan quickly noticed his change in demeanor.

"This isn’t right. Why is there an Eight Trigrams Tribulation here?"

said Murong Fei.

"What Eight Trigrams Tribulation? What are you talking about? Can you explain it in a way we can understand?"

Guan Shanyuan said, staring at Murong Fei.

"The so-called Eight Trigrams Tribulation is a massive mechanism-based formation."

"It’s a mechanism formation based on the principles of the Eight Trigrams. The reason it’s called a ’tribulation’ is because it represents a great calamity."

"If you don’t understand the principles of the Eight Trigrams—the cycles of generation and suppression—it’s nearly impossible to escape."

"So, do you all know what to do now?"

Murong Fei said, turning to look back at the group.

"What do we do?"

Master Hei asked, completely bewildered.

"Run, of course!"

"What’s the matter, you don’t even know how to run?"

Murong Fei said to the group behind him.

"If we run, what about you?"

"Aren’t you going to run?"

Guan Shanyuan asked.

"Of course I’m running too."

With that, Murong Fei stomped hard on the ground and shot off, trying to escape.

But the surrounding trees moved on their own, instantly blocking all of Murong Fei’s escape routes.

Guan Shanyuan and the others were stunned to see this.

"Holy crap, so that’s what the trees are for."

said Master Hei.

"Hey, Murong Fei, are you all right? Can you get out?"

Master Hei and the others hadn’t left.

They had only retreated a few hundred paces.

"I’m trapped inside. I don’t think I’ll be getting out for a while."

"You guys go on ahead."

Murong Fei said to them.

"How are we supposed to leave? This place is probably riddled with traps."

"We’d better just stay put for now and wait for you to get out."

Qingyan said with a wry smile.

After speaking, Qingyan looked at the others. None of them moved.
