Peerless Perverted Actor Has a Celebrity Harem?!
Chapter 43: Breakfast with Beautiful Sisters’Divine,’ Park thought with respect usually reserved for gods, miracles and free money.
Then his eyes dropped again entirely by themselves, obviously.
’And built. Sweet merciful hell, she is built.’
One surviving brain cell slapped the emergency button.
Park dragged his eyes back up to her face so quickly he nearly gave himself spiritual whiplash.
Hopefully nobody had noticed; maybe he had been fast enough.
Evangeline looked directly at him.
’Yeah. She noticed. Amazing. Great start, Park.’
He cleared his throat inside his own mind.
’Sister. That is your sister. We studied this subject already today, bro. There was a full lesson. There may have been an exam. You failed terribly. But I do not mind.’
He didn’t.
’Look at her hair,’ Park ordered himself, desperately changing the subject. ’Hair is safe. Hair has never ruined a family.’
Unfortunately, Evangeline’s hair was white and beautiful enough to get lost into too.
Evangeline continued looking at him.
Her expression barely changed, but Park felt the temperature between them drop enough to preserve meat.
She didn’t hate him.
Honestly, Park sometimes wished she did. Hate would have at least given him something to work with.
Evangeline simply couldn’t be bothered with him.
She was always polite, always calm, always just nice enough that if he complained about her, he would end up sounding like the needy one. She said good morning when he entered, answered when he spoke to her, passed him the salt if it happened to be nearby, and that was pretty much Park’s daily allowance.
If he disappeared halfway through breakfast, she probably wouldn’t ask where he had gone. She would notice the empty chair, stare at it for a second, then move the jam into the extra space.
Park pretended none of that bothered him and guided Emmeline toward her seat.
He pulled the chair out, then carefully lifted the long fall of her hair over one shoulder so it would not catch against the carved back when she sat down. Emmeline looked up at him with open delight, clearly enjoying this new version of her little brother far too much.
Park adjusted her plate, moved the juice closer and placed the folded napkin beside her hand.
When he finished, the entire room had gone weirdly quiet.
Park paused.
Aveline was watching him over the top of her tablet. Evangeline had frozen with her teacup halfway to her mouth. Even Emmeline seemed surprised, although hers was the happy kind, like she had ordered one little brother online and somebody had accidentally delivered the upgraded version.
Apparently, helping someone sit down had become paranormal activity in this house.
Park straightened and tried to act as if he had not noticed.
"Good morning, Sister Aveline. Sister Evangeline."
Aveline blinked once.
"Good morning," she replied slowly, studying him as if she suspected there might be a small bomb hidden beneath his shirt. "Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?"
"I woke up standing on top of it, actually. Emmeline was involved."
Aveline glanced at Emmeline. "That explains nothing and everything."
Emmeline looked extremely proud of herself.
Aveline placed her tablet on the table and gave Park her full attention.
"What is all this?"
"What is all what?"
She gestured lazily between him and Emmeline. "The manners. The smiling. Pulling out chairs. Are you auditioning to become a model younger brother?"
Park moved toward his own chair and smiled at her: "Do I get the role?"
"No."
"You haven’t even watched the whole audition," Emmeline protested.
"I have watched fifteen years of rehearsal."
"Maybe he finally got a better script."
"Emmie."
Aveline did not raise her voice. One quiet warning was enough to make Emmeline’s shoulders stiffen.
Park saw it immediately.
Before Emmeline could fire back, he placed one hand between her shoulder blades and gave her a slow pat.
’I’ve got this.’
She glanced at him with her lips pressed together, still obviously prepared to bite someone, then leaned back in her chair.
Aveline saw that whole little exchange and her mouth tightened. She probably did not enjoy Park calming Emmeline down as if Aveline were the difficult one causing trouble at breakfast.
She probably enjoyed even less how naturally Emmeline listened to him.
Park sat down and let the comment go.
He could have defended himself. He could have defended Emmeline and started a whole argument before touching his eggs, which would have been impressive in the worst possible way.
’Nope; this is breakfast, not Family Trauma: Final Battle.’
A few seconds later, Aveline reached for the honey. It sat slightly too far away, so Park picked it up and placed it beside her cup before she had to lean across the table.
Her hand stopped in the air.
She stared at the honey, then she stared at him.
For half a second, Park could practically hear her thoughts.
’What is this? What does he want? Is the honey poisoned? Is kindness contagious?’
"Thank you," she finally said.
"You’re welcome."
Park returned to his plate with nothing like proud smile or demanding praise; he did not even wait for her reaction.
That seemed to bother Aveline more.
Aveline slowly pulled her hand back and poured the honey into her tea without looking at him again.
Park hid his amusement by taking a drink.
Then he looked around the table:
Emmeline sat closest to him, still glowing from all the attention. Her checkered sleeves had slipped off both shoulders, while the black bodice underneath was doing exactly what she had probably bullied some poor designer into making it do.
Aveline looked like expensive discipline had taken human form and decided everybody else needed supervision.
And Evangeline—
Park moved on quickly for the protection of public order.
’My sisters,’ he thought.
The thought sounded simple, but something about it hit him harder than expected.
His sisters.
Family.
’Complicated family. Slightly hostile family with enough emotional damage to require an instruction manual and possibly professional equipment. But still family.’
He had never had that before.
Aveline caught him looking. "What?"
"Nothing."
"You’ve been staring at us."
"I was thinking."
"That is rarely reassuring."
Emmeline snorted into her juice.
Park ignored Aveline and rested one hand beside his plate. "I was thinking that having a family is a blessing."
The table went quiet again.
’Why did I say it like that?’ Park wondered. ’I sound like somebody’s grandfather.’
Aveline’s face closed immediately while Evangeline lowered her cup but Emmeline stopped laughing and watched him with a small, softer smile.
Park almost took the sentence back.
Instead, he continued before the moment became too awkward to survive.
"People get used to things, don’t they? Brothers, sisters, eating together, seeing the same annoying faces every morning. After a while, it feels so normal that you stop thinking it matters."
"And you discovered this overnight?" Aveline asked but with no joke in her voice now; only suspicion.
Park met her eyes. "Maybe I should’ve figured it out sooner; how precious and irreplaceable family is."
That made Aveline look away.
Not because he had won, there was nothing to win here really. If anything, she seemed uncomfortable, like he had suddenly changed the rules of an argument she had been having for years.
Park understood.
One nice morning could not delete sixteen years of disappointment. This was not some cheap manga where the cold older sister received one compliment, blushed, called him an idiot and unlocked maximum affection before the end of the Chapter.
Real people were annoying.
’Their feelings come with passwords.’
"Sometimes people only understand what they have after losing it," Park added. "Or after they realise they almost never had it in the first place." Like himself.
Under the table, Emmeline reached for his sleeve and held it between her fingers.
Park felt it so he did not look down.
Aveline studied him with that faint line forming between her brows, probably trying to work out what scheme required this much emotional dialogue, Evangeline on the other hand remained silent, although she watched him longer than usual.
The Marvelous Halo and Cursed Attractive Presence was making everything worse.
Or better.
Park honestly had no idea anymore.
It had been pulling attention toward him since the moment he entered the room. The Cursed Attractive Presence was quieter, but it worked underneath everything like an annoying notification that refused to be swiped away.
Still, neither trait could reach into Aveline or Evangeline and magically replace years of resentment with affection.
They were abilities, not brainwashing DLC.
But they could make ignoring him harder.
A face they had known for years suddenly looked different. His voice landed differently. His expressions caught their attention when they did not want to give it.
Aveline clearly found that irritating.
Evangeline looked unsettled by it.
Neither sister looked happy.
’Excellent,’ Park thought. ’My special power is making family breakfast more confusing.’
A member of staff stepped forward with the silver teapot just as Evangeline reached for her cup. A thin layer of condensation had gathered beneath the saucer, making it slide slightly across the polished table.
When the servant lifted the pot, her sleeve caught the edge.
The cup tipped and hot tea rushed straight toward Evangeline’s pale skirt.
Park reacted before anyone shouted; one hand caught the saucer and the other grabbed the cup by its handle before it could empty itself over her lap. A few drops escaped, but he snatched a folded napkin from the table and shoved it beneath them in the same movement.
Everything stopped a few inches from Evangeline’s dress.
The whole thing took maybe two seconds.
Then the room fell dead silent.
