Imperial Capital, Cardinal Council.
Qin Ming sat behind his desk, his expression unreadable as he sifted through the latest intelligence reports.
With the Qin family’s firm grip over the Eastern Military, many previously elusive secrets had now come into their hands. To his surprise, the remnants of the Imperial Party under the Regency Government were more extensive than he had initially anticipated
Many noble families and powerful guilds, who had once appeared submissive and neutral, had in fact already pledged their loyalty to the Regency.
Yet Qin Ming showed no signs of anger or frustration—this was expected.
The Ying royal family had ruled for over a thousand years, securing their place as the rightful rulers in the minds of the people. Their extensive influence within the empire made it inevitable that loyalists still existed.
However, what concerned Qin Ming the most was the progress of the Regency Government’s search for the Emperor. It seemed they were close to finding him.
Reports indicated that Lu Ji had already issued covert orders to the Eastern Military, commanding them to prepare for Level One Battle Readiness—the highest state of alert. The moment the Emperor was located, they would move immediately to receive him.
Yet another matter caught Qin Ming’s attention—his son, Qin Xian, had decided to return to the Void after the God-Demon Trials.
Qin Xian was the son of Qin Ming and the Void Empress, but in truth, there was no love between them. Qin Ming held no affection for the Void Empress, and she felt nothing for him in return.
If ever their interests clashed, the Qin Family and the Void Empress would wage war without hesitation. Both parties understood this clearly.
Their union had been purely strategic, each side using the other to their advantage.
Qin Xian was the result of that alliance—a bridge between the Qin family and the Void Realm. The Qin family sought the power of the Void, while the Void Empress desired the primal bloodline of an Ancient Progenitor, creating a new Void Sovereign with a digitalized soul.
Neither parent truly cared for each other—only Qin Xian mattered. From birth, Qin Xian had lived among humans, raised under Qin Ming’s strict guidance.
Every lesson, every challenge had been meticulously arranged to shape him into the perfect heir, the greatest successor of the Qin family. Now, however, he was about to leave for the Void, where he would receive the Empress’s teachings.
This was inevitable.
As a Void Overlord, Qin Xian possessed instinctual knowledge of the Void, yet proper training under the Empress would allow him to fully master his bloodline.
Still, Qin Ming couldn’t help but feel uneasy. He worried the Void Empress might corrupt Qin Xian—lead him too far down the path of the Void.
In truth, Qin Ming harbored no fondness for the Void Realm.
To him, Void creatures—even the intelligent Void Lords and Overlords—were nothing more than wild beasts, primal and mindless. They lacked the refinement, the wisdom, the ambition of humans.
As a direct descendant of the Ancient Progenitors, Qin Ming took immense pride in his human heritage. But he quickly cast aside his irrational concerns.
Qin Xian was his son.
The boy was ruthless, brilliant, and unwavering—the perfect heir to the Qin family’s legacy.
Qin Ming’s lips curled slightly as he imagined the chaos Qin Xian would unleash upon the Void.
“What kind of storm will a Void Overlord with human intelligence bring to that savage realm?”
“And when he returns, just how much stronger will he have become?”
Qin Ming’s thoughts settled. He issued an order, “Deploy the Third Corps of the Central Army to escort Qin Xian to the Void Frontline for training.”
The Central Army had already been deeply infiltrated by various noble families, but the Third Corps was a purely Qin-controlled force—one of their most elite divisions. By using them, no one would question or suspect Qin Xian’s departure.

Abyssal Frontline, Changheng Military District.
Atop Changheng Fortress, soldiers of the Changheng Military District stood guard, their expressions grim as they peered into the endless, black abyss before them.
A terrifying presence was brewing deep within the Abyss, an ominous pressure rising with each passing moment.
“Stay alert!”
Officers patrolled the fortifications, their voices sharp as they barked orders at their troops. Meanwhile, the communications network was
flooded with reports as intelligence officers monitored the energy fluctuations.
“Deep Abyssal energy levels have surged by 800% compared to previous readings!”
A chilling report sent shivers down the officers’ spines.
This was a sign.
Abyssal eruption.
The consequences of such an event were catastrophic. And what made it worse? The God-Demon Trials were currently underway.
This event had gathered the greatest young talents from all over the world. If something went wrong—if these prodigies suffered severe casualties—the Changheng Military District and even the Chu Family behind them would never recover from the political backlash.
“Commander!” A frantic intelligence officer sprinted into the Changheng Energy Observation Station, his face pale.
“The barrier runes of Changheng Fortress have dropped another 7%!”
The station chief rushed forward, eyes scanning the diagnostic instruments. His expression turned ashen.
“Have we determined the cause?!” he roared.
The Changheng Fortress was the first and strongest line of defense against the Abyss, reinforced with Heavenly Revelation Runes that suppressed abyssal creatures and prevented high-ranking demons from crossing over.
But ever since the mysterious force that triggered the premature start of the God-Demon Trials, those runes had begun to weaken.
Now, a critical section of the defense line—Sector B77—had lost over half its protective power.
The station chief immediately issued an emergency request for reinforcements.
But before he could even complete the transmission—
BOOM!
A sudden, overwhelming aura erupted from the depths of the Abyss.
A wave of darkness and malevolence surged forth, crashing against the fortress walls like a tidal wave of pure hatred and destruction.
It was suffocating. Unnatural. Terrifying.
A Demon Lord.
Only an entity of such unimaginable power could produce a presence like this.
The station chief felt his blood run cold.
“The Abyss is no longer being suppressed…”
“We can’t hold them back anymore.”
