Qin Xian naturally didn’t explain anything to Qin Jue. He simply smiled and said, “I’ll be troubling you in the coming days, Seventh Uncle.”

Qin Jue laughed heartily and nodded.

“You can use the full authority of the Third Legion however you like!”

The senior officers standing nearby also broke into smiles and nodded in agreement. If this had happened in any other military district, such a statement might’ve stirred up a massive scandal. After all, military command was a grave matter. The authority of the Third Legion represented the lives of nearly a hundred thousand soldiers—and the fragile stability of the Void Frontline itself.

And yet, despite all that, Qin Xian—who held no official title or military rank on paper—was being offered full control. But this was the Central Army, a district that had long been under the sway of the noble families.

From Qin Jue all the way down to the rank-and-file soldiers, everyone in the Third Legion was part of the Qin Clan.

Even the captains and colonels in between owed their loyalty to the family. That was the reality of the Central Army now. In truth, it was as if the Empire were funding the Qin Clan’s private army.

To them, Qin Xian wasn’t just a prodigy—he was their future lord. So Qin Jue’s words weren’t seen as inappropriate in the slightest.

Qin Xian smiled slightly in response, “Then I’ll thank Seventh Uncle for his generosity.”

After some polite exchanges, they all made their way toward the Third Legion’s command headquarters. That evening, Qin Jue held a banquet to celebrate Qin Xian’s arrival and began formally introducing him to the Legion’s senior officers.

Qin Xian listened with patience and courtesy. He understood that these men would one day become the backbone of the Qin Clan’s control over the world, so he gave each one their due attention.

The banquet was lavish—so luxurious, in fact, that one could easily forget they were within a military base. It was impossible not to marvel at the extravagance of life within the Central Army…

The next day, Qin Xian prepared to depart for the Void Frontline. He would accompany one of the companies under the Third Legion, board a military vessel, and travel through the teleportation gate to the Void Realm.

“Young Master, we are the 788th Company. I am Su Fen, commander of the 788th,” said an officer, trying his best to suppress his excitement as he introduced himself to Qin Xian.

Qin Xian gave him a polite smile and nodded, “Captain Su, I’ll be relying on you from here on.”

Qin Jue, standing nearby, could only nod in resignation. He had initially believed that Qin Xian was here for a glorified training stint—or perhaps just to earn military accolades—so he’d prepared an escort of elite warriors to protect him. He even planned for them to kill a few Void Beasts on his behalf for appearance’s sake.

But all of that had been firmly rejected by Qin Xian. His only request was to join a regular company headed to the Void Realm—nothing more.

This put Qin Jue in a difficult position. He knew Qin Xian was strong and had secret cards up his sleeve—he’d even forced back the Abyssal Queen, after all—but this was the Void they were talking about.

The Void was an existence countless times more dangerous than the Abyss.

If anything happened to Qin Xian, even someone as high-ranking as Qin Jue might not be able to survive the consequences. He knew all too well how terrifyingly indulgent his cousin Qin Ming was toward this young man—no, not just indulgent, but borderline obsessive.

So Qin Jue had gone as far as to request special instructions from Qin Ming.

To his surprise, the reply had been simple: “Let Qin Xian do as he pleases. Do not interfere in any way.”

Qin Jue still had no idea of Qin Xian’s true identity.

To the human race and other civilizations, the Void was a malevolent, hostile dimension filled with dread. But to Qin Xian…

The Void was merely his second home.

The warship lifted off, rising slowly toward the massive teleportation gate.

Qin Xian sat calmly by the window, gazing out at the awe-inspiring scene. After the vessel passed through the gate, waves of multicolored prismatic light shimmered around them like curtains of stained glass. Finally, the ship emerged into another world.

A realm brimming with negative energy.

The moment they arrived, a flood of dark emotions surged toward their minds. Whispering voices—like the murmurs of Ancient Gods—echoed constantly, trying to seduce the basest, darkest impulses within them.

Through the window, Qin Xian saw the world laid bare: a void landscape, barren and bleak. Below them stretched an endless desert that vanished into a horizonless distance.

Within this desolate world were remnants of other collapsed realms—broken fragments of destroyed worlds, drifting like flotsam through the Void.

Shattered temples.

Ruined cities.

Monuments to civilizations long lost.

This… was the Void Realm.

Qin Xian had once felt the presence of the Void during a simulated hunting trial in the Imperial Capital. But that had merely been an artificial construct, a facsimile created by the Apocalypse System.

He had never actually stepped into the real Void.

This was his first true return.

Qin Xian inhaled deeply, sensing the tremble of suppressed excitement in the depths of his bloodline.

Meanwhile, the other soldiers aboard the ship clearly struggled with discomfort and pain. To humans, the Void was a place of profound threat—especially the whispers of the Old Gods, which eroded their willpower and tempted their hearts.

For that reason, soldiers stationed at the Void Frontline had to periodically return to the human world to recuperate.

Otherwise, prolonged exposure would eventually corrupt them, turning them into mindless Void Cultists.

But Qin Xian felt nothing of the sort.

There was no discomfort.

No fear.

No resistance.

Instead—he felt a sense of ease and joy, as if he had returned to a place where he truly belonged. He felt like a fish returned to water.
