I muttered the thought while my eyes moved across the new set of offerings.
After looking them over, my gaze settled on the unique tier 2 item.
If I could use that on Jane for the six hours I still had before everyone returned...

I said it with a smile while shifting the cup just slightly before her fingers could close around it.
"Please? The meeting is in a minute."
Avery’s eyes dropped to the coffee. I could feel the urgency in her gaze.
I sighed inside.
As much as I wanted to give her the coffee, I simply... couldn’t.
While I was still turning the problem over in my head, Avery moved faster than I expected and took the cup.
Before I could say anything she brought it to her lips.
Although I could have stopped her in time, at that moment, for some unknown reason, my thoughts stalled.
Avery took a sip and looked at me.
"Sorry, I really needed this."
She gave me an apologetic look and turned to rush toward her room for the meeting.
The moment she turned, her body froze. The cup slipped from her fingers and shattered against the floor.

I massaged my forehead as the first pulse of a headache settled in.
