Banan Kingdom.

Capital Balia.

"Boom!"

The howling of the furious wind sounded like rolling thunder.

A fierce stream of air swept at incredible speed through a main artery that was jammed solid.

Thousands of vehicles were shaken in unison by the blast.

Quite a few cars were even blown backward, "bang, bang," crashing into the vehicles stopped behind them.

But no one got out to check.

Because it was simply too cold outside.

One of the unlucky cars being pushed backward by the gale was a Laketon.

Laketon was a Carmenia car brand, with mid-range sales in the Banan Kingdom.

In the past, Carmenia had been the hegemon of Canglan Star, and many Ban Nan People bought Carmenia cars just for the "Carmenia" label.

The younger daughter, Elly, sat in the back seat; feeling the car shake violently and the sudden jolt of impact, she was instantly scared into tears.

Her mother, Vermar, hurriedly pulled her into her arms to comfort her: "It’s okay, baby, it just bumped a little."

"Bang!"

Her father, Quinn, slammed the steering wheel in furious rage: "Damned junk heap! Everything made in Carmenia is trash!"

He cursed anxiously, "How long is this going to be blocked? If this traffic keeps up we’ll definitely be frozen to death by the frost disaster."

Elly grew even more frightened when she heard the words "frozen to death."

Vermar quickly snapped, "Quinn, don’t say that!"

But Quinn was wound up to the breaking point, completely ignoring his younger daughter’s feelings as he kept ranting: "I read the frost disaster response guide issued by Eastern Great Xia. It clearly recommends that the authorities set up a traffic-dispersion mechanism in advance, but the officials in Balia did nothing, just let this massive jam happen."

In fact, most people understood that driving out of the city was a terrible idea that would inevitably lead to huge traffic jams.

The problem was, with the frost disaster covering such a vast area, if you didn’t drive, you had absolutely no chance of escaping.

This was a textbook prisoner’s dilemma.

In essence, the root cause lay in the authorities’ inaction, which had plunged everyone into this predicament.

Vermar tried to soothe her husband: "Quinn, we can still think of something..."

Quinn rudely cut her off, shouting out of control: "The officials are a bunch of damned brutes. All they care about now is saving their own skins. We are definitely going to die here today."

"Waaah~"

Elly was terrified into loud sobs.

Vermar tightened her arms around her daughter and shouted angrily, "Quinn, that’s enough!"

Through the rearview mirror, Quinn glanced at his daughter’s terror-stricken face, and only then did he calm down: "Sorry, honey, I..."

He hadn’t finished speaking.

The burly man’s pupils suddenly contracted.

Because out of the corner of his eye he saw that tiny white hairs were suddenly sprouting across the surface of the windshield.

And this was the critical omen of the frost disaster’s arrival!

They had a name—frost hairs.

According to videos online, once the frost hairs appeared, in as little as a few dozen seconds, at most two or three minutes, the terrifying frost disaster would definitely descend.

Quinn felt as if his heart had been seized in a giant invisible fist; he couldn’t even breathe.

With the insulation of this junk car, the three of them probably wouldn’t last even half a minute before the Cold Qi froze them into corpses covered head to toe in white frost.

Vermar also noticed the frost hairs, and her face instantly went deathly pale.

Her lips trembled a few times; in the end she couldn’t say a single word, only tightened her hold on her daughter with all her strength.

Elly burrowed a little deeper into her mother’s arms and whispered, "Mom, I’m so cold."

Although the frost disaster had not formally descended, the concentration of Extreme Cold Qi was already rapidly climbing.

Vermar felt utter despair inside, yet she still comforted her daughter with her lips: "Bear with it a bit, in a while it won’t be cold."

The real meaning of that sentence was—once you’re frozen to death, you won’t feel cold anymore.

As a mother, she was powerless to protect her daughter, and could only use such cruel words to soothe her.

After hearing her mother, Elly no longer cried about the cold, she only shivered even harder.

Vermar felt as if her heart were about to break.

At that moment.

She was willing to give up everything, including her life, in exchange for her little girl’s survival.

Quinn, trembling, unfastened his seat belt, leaned his upper body back, and reached out to pull his wife and daughter into his arms, wanting to give them a bit of warmth in the final moments of their lives.

The three of them closed their eyes at the same time, waiting for the moment of death to arrive.

Just then.

Quinn suddenly felt the space outside the car windows brighten.

He instinctively opened his eyes and glanced at the windshield, and was immediately stunned.

The burly man clearly saw streaks of red cloud spreading rapidly across the sky, linking together into a single mass.

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

A series of extremely muffled thunderclaps rolled down from the sky.

Listening to the thunder, Quinn felt his chest cavity vibrating, and even his scalp tingled.

Vermar, noticing something wrong right after him, also saw the strange red clouds.

Not only that, even the gale had obviously weakened.

Before, the wind had roared "whoom, whoom," so loud it was terrifying; now it had become a low "woo, woo."

She couldn’t help asking, "What’s going on?"

Quinn came back to himself, shaking his head in bewilderment: "I don’t know."

Elly was still clinging to her mother, and called out softly, "Mom, I don’t feel as cold anymore."

Just now her mother had said that in a while it wouldn’t be cold; now that she truly felt warmer, she was giving her feedback.

Vermar also realized it and was astonished: "It really is much better than before."

Quinn looked at his daughter, then at the surging red clouds outside the window, and suddenly came to a realization: "I get it!"
