Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System

Chapter 263 - 213: After the Dust Has Settled

A line of burly men surged into the small stone chamber, making the air feel a bit stifling.

The moment everyone entered, their gazes were involuntarily drawn to a small tree before them. It was entirely white and emanated a soft, gentle glow.

"It’s the Sacred Laurel Tree." An Elf Warrior trembled all over, his eyes shimmering with tears, his voice on the verge of choking back a sob. "The Mother Goddess has not forsaken Her children. She is still watching over us, and She has come to our side."

All the Elves present gazed at the Laurel Tree with excitement and reverence, as if they were all having a collective seizure.

Even Ash couldn’t help but take a deep breath, unable to hide her excitement. "My apologies, Levi. The Laurel Tree holds a truly ineffable meaning for us Elves."

"I understand."

It was just like in his past life, where as a descendant of Yan and Huang, he held an unimaginable reverence for dragons.

"Since our objective is complete, we’ll be leaving now." Levi had no interest in watching them stage a melodrama here.

"Let’s move out." He snapped his fingers and, under the grateful gazes of Ash and the other Elves, led the various leaders of High Cliff Castle away.

Given Biefeng’s size, it should have been difficult for it to ride the lift cage to the top of the mine. But to Levi’s surprise, it could not only grow larger but also shrink.

This made the Lord realize that its Talent Magic was definitely not as simple as mere gigantification.

"Hahaha."

It wasn’t until he was out of the mine, watching the snowflakes dance in the sky and breathing in the fresh air, that the Lord finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst into laughter.

This trip, not only had he scored a free mount and hatched the Stone Egg, but he had also gained the favor of the Elves. It was an absolute windfall.

And all it cost him was what amounted to a brief warm-up.

"What’s wrong with the Lord?"

The Giant Goblin Leiden, who had only recently joined High Cliff Castle, was very confused by this. ’Do all powerful people have this kind of quirk?’

"Shh, don’t disturb the boss."

As the old hand who had followed Levi the longest, Zat was all too familiar with this, wearing an expression that said, ’Just you wait and see.’

"Once the mind’s desires are met, the world suddenly feels vast. I ask the boundless Wilderness, who is the real winner..."

Levi gazed at the sky with his hands behind his back, chanting with a shake of his head, carrying some of the flair of the Legendary Minstrel, Saint Teresa.

"Levi, I never expected you to have literary talents that rival a Grand Scholar’s."

At some point, Ash had also come out. The Elf Queen wore a look of surprise and admiration.

"My dream is to be a Minstrel, you know." The Lord gave a slight nod, doing his best to act nonchalant. "Miss Ash, this is but the tip of the iceberg."

Seeing the admiring crowd around him, the Lord’s vanity was satisfied like never before.

With a wave of his hand, he strode toward the encampment, leaving pairs of admiring eyes in his wake.

"Brother-in-law, where did you get this little thing?"

Mier looked at Buji, who was sleeping in Levi’s palm, and couldn’t resist the urge to poke her with his finger.

But halfway there, Levi slapped his hand away.

"Don’t touch her. If you wake her up, I’ll beat you up," the Lord warned in a low voice.

He carefully placed Buji into a flower basket on the table, letting her lie on the soft velvet, and finally covered her with a small, cut piece of silk.

Mier instantly looked aggrieved, feeling as though this little thing that had suddenly appeared had stolen all of his brother-in-law’s affection.

’But I was here first...’

When they were in front of the crowd earlier, Buji seemed very shy around strangers and had burrowed into the Lord’s pocket, not coming out again.

When he took her out after they got back, she was already yawning, rubbing her sleepy eyes with her tiny hands.

How could Levi possibly stand it? He immediately used his authority as the Lord of High Cliff Castle to order someone to whip up a small flower basket at top speed, lined with a velvet blanket he’d gotten from the Elves.

"Is everything ready?"

Pulling Mier aside, Levi finally got down to business.

"The supplies are all loaded onto the carriages, and the Warriors are ready. We can set out at dawn."

Mier said, finally unable to hold back, "Brother-in-law, we helped the Elves solve such a huge problem. Shouldn’t we discuss terms with them before we leave?"

Favors were the kind of thing that expired if you didn’t cash them in. Right now, they were the benefactors and saviors of this Elf Tribe, so anything was negotiable. But it was hard to say if that favor would be discounted by the passage of time.

"No rush. Eagerly demanding something and having someone offer it willingly are two different things. I imagine they’re discussing this very matter right now." Levi was as calm as could be, not flustered in the slightest.

As it turned out, the Lord’s guess was correct.

Soon, when the sky had grown completely dark and you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, Ash came to the Lord’s room alone.

Levi stood up and personally poured the Elf Queen a cup of hot water.

"Levi, I am very grateful for all the help you’ve given the Wind Speech Tribe during this time." Ash held the cup in her slender, jade-like hands and took a sip before speaking slowly.

"It was nothing." Levi smiled faintly, being very polite.

"Last time I offered my thanks, you refused. But this time, no matter what, please accept this gratitude from everyone in the Wind Speech Tribe."

As she spoke, Ash handed over a sheet of parchment.

Levi took it and examined it closely. It was written in exceptionally elegant Common Tongue, but the signature at the end was in the Elven script, which Levi could not read.

The parchment was a unilateral letter of commitment. The contents were simple: the Wind Speech Tribe was willing to give the Lord twenty percent of the Magic Crystal Ore they mined, as well as various other supplies.
