However, to prevent the two newcomers from being targeted as easy marks, all the High Cliff Castle guards were ultimately sent to protect them.

"Boss, what’s the plan?" Zat asked, scratching his head with a silly grin.

"Let’s go. We’re going to see an old friend." Levi snapped his fingers and headed toward Bailiu City’s Pioneer Commercial Street.

Soon, a sturdy Beastman and a human squeezed into a shop called "Migen Weapon Shop".

SLAM!

Levi slapped his Sword on the counter. "It’s called Holy Sword, forged from Mithril, and worth at least six hundred Gold Coins. Is your shop buying?"

The Dwarf, who was standing on a stool with his head down calculating his accounts, jumped in fright. He immediately started cursing, "Where did this bum crawl out from? Daring to ask Old Migen for six hundred for some worthless fake..."

But as he carefully examined the exquisite Longsword on the counter, the Dwarf grew more and more shocked. ’No, wait, this really is made of Mithril... But why does it look so familiar...’

He tilted his head up and was met with the sight of a giant nostril... Hurriedly, he adjusted his stool to be taller, and only then did he get a clear look at the person before him.

"It’s you?" The little old Dwarf raised an eyebrow and began to sneer. "What, did your pioneering venture fail? Back to sell your Treasure Sword again? Let me be clear, you still owe me that six-hundred-Gold-Coin loan, and I expect every last coin."

"Even if you have to become a rent boy, you’ll pay me back first!"

"Now, now, what kind of talk is that? Can’t it be that I, your Lord, have found success and fame and returned home in glory?"

The Lord slapped the counter dramatically. Judging by his current dignified air, how could he possibly be one of those bums who failed at pioneering and returned looking like a beggar?

The Dwarf crossed his arms, sneered, and gave him a withering eye-roll. The eyes of a Dwarf are large and listless, much like those of a dead fish.

"Damn, you really don’t recognize me?"

Levi was quite frustrated.

"What, are you famous or something?" Old Migen rolled his eyes and went back to calculating the accounts before him.

"Lord of High Cliff Castle, Blood-colored Waist-slicing Hand, Lion Hunter Knight—you really don’t know a single one?"

Levi seemed to be trying to jog the Dwarf’s memory.

Upon hearing the last title, Old Migen looked up skeptically. "With those skinny arms and legs? I bet you’d have trouble killing a single Kobold."

"At best, you might be popular among the Noble Ladies."

’That Lion Hunter Knight really is the talk of Bailiu City right now,’ he thought. He’d heard a few things himself.

But no matter how he thought about it, he couldn’t connect that figure with the young man standing in front of him.

"Hmph. I am none other than the man himself."

The Lord looked down his nose with a proud expression, speaking in phrases that Migen didn’t quite understand but could roughly guess the meaning of.

"Then what are you here for?"

"To pay my debt!"

The next moment, a money pouch landed on the counter with a crisp, pleasant jingle. When Old Migen looked up, he squinted to see a tall, imposing back.

’Could he really be the Lion Hunter Knight?’

The Dwarf muttered to himself. Then, as if remembering something, he quickly hopped off his stool and put up a sign at the entrance to the weapon shop.

"The Lion Hunter Knight Visited This Shop"

Old Migen put his hands on his hips, admired his work, and nodded in satisfaction.

Countless people were studying this Lion Hunter Knight from top to bottom, hoping to replicate his path to success.

Now that his shop had been visited by the Lion Hunter Knight, it would surely attract a large number of the man’s admirers. He was going to make a killing.

He went back into the shop, grinning, took out the IOU and burned it, and began counting the Gold Coins on the table.

...

「An hour later.」

A vast procession arrived outside the manor at Maple Leaf Lake.

In the lead carriage sat a young nobleman, resting his chin on his hand as he watched the scenery pass by, humming an unknown tune.

He was clearly the absolute center of the procession. A smokeless charcoal stove burned inside the carriage, making it as warm as a spring sunrise, while two young Goat-man girls knelt beside him, massaging his legs.

A burly Beastman loyally served as the coachman, while dozens of fierce Centaurs patrolled on both sides as guards.

Maple Leaf Lake was a rich fiefdom located near Bailiu City, named for the countless maple trees surrounding a massive freshwater lake.

The manor itself was built on an open plot of land next to the lake.

Though it was called a manor, it was really no different from a small castle.

Its perimeter was a marble wall dozens of feet high. The manor within was constructed mostly from maple wood, its exterior painted white, and it stood five or six stories tall.

And this was Fujero’s fiefdom.

Generally, a Baron would be enfeoffed with some remote and barren patch of land at best. It was exceedingly rare for someone like Fujero to be directly granted such a rich territory.

In fact, one might say that Maple Leaf Lake was Fulina’s personal domain; it had just now been enfeoffed to Fujero.

Therefore, everything was already in place; Fujero only needed to show up.

Upon arriving outside the manor, Levi was surprised to find that someone was already waiting for him.

"Lord Levi, I have been waiting for you." A beautiful woman with lovely green hair approached him, an impeccable smile on her face. "Please, follow me."

"Lorina. It’s been a while." Levi stepped down from his carriage and greeted her.

"For me, these last few months have passed in the blink of an eye," Lorina said with a smile, looking at the young man before her, who hadn’t much changed in appearance.

Levi gave a meaningful look to Baisitina, who was holding the carriage curtain open, then began to walk alongside Lorina by himself.

The rest of the procession, led by an Attendant, headed for the quarters designated for the High Cliff Castle contingent.

"That’s true," Levi said, shaking his head. "But in these few months, I’ve experienced things most people don’t in a lifetime. It’s no wonder I have the illusion that a long time has passed."

"In just a few months, you’ve accomplished what others couldn’t in a lifetime. The fact that you’ve had these slightly unpleasant experiences helps restore a little balance to the world."

Lorina smiled, her tone now much more respectful than before.

After all, times had changed. Before, although the Lord was a nobleman, he could have easily died an obscure death in the Wilderness at any moment.

But now, he had not only established a firm foothold but also possessed immense military power. Naturally, he deserved to be treated with respect.

"What happened to that batch of slaves?"

Levi changed the subject.

After defeating the Giant Dragon Corps, High Cliff Castle had captured a large number of prisoners. Since they couldn’t afford to keep so many Alien Race Warriors, and simply releasing them was out of the question, they had sorted out the stronger ones and sold them to Lorina.

It had earned the Lord a hefty profit.

"They’ve mostly been bought up by various Gladiatorial Arenas," Lorina replied honestly.

These Alien Race Warriors generally had two purposes: one was to be sold to Gladiatorial Arenas where they would fight each other for a living, and the other was to be purchased as guards or soldiers.

Either fate was better than outright death; they had simply lost their freedom.

Finally, the two discussed some future possibilities for cooperation before parting ways and heading to their respective destinations.

Although the Secret Silver Commerce Association had already established a trading house in High Cliff Castle, they didn’t engage in the slave Trade.

’Given that High Cliff Castle would surely have more prisoners in the future, maintaining a good relationship with Lorina was a harmless and beneficial move.’

The quarters assigned to the High Cliff Castle contingent was a small courtyard with a garden.

They had even taken the Centaurs’ height into account, specially constructing a large, stable-like room for them.

On this trip to Bailiu City, Levi had only brought Mier, Baisitina, and Zat, leaving everyone else behind to guard High Cliff Castle.

He had no special reason for bringing those two; he just wanted them to broaden their horizons. After all, one was the chief steward of High Cliff Castle and the other was the head of its arsenal. It wouldn’t do for them to act like country bumpkins.

There was still some time before the banquet, and with nothing better to do, the Lord organized a card game.

Baisitina refused to play. Her refusal was especially firm after she learned how the Lord had tricked Sophia into signing various treaties.

She stood by the window, watching the snowflakes drift down, but her attention was soon captured by a group of people outside.
