With a soft thud, the Lord made a perfect superhero landing in front of them all. He patted the dust from his clothes and was even in the mood to joke, "Fatir, I braved untold dangers to come and save you. If you want to thank me, there’s no need to promise yourself to me or anything like that. Just teach me a few Holy Light Divine Skills and we’ll be square."
"Hey, young man, watch your tone! Her Highness Saintess is not to be blasphemed against!" The middle-aged Holy Knight Captain’s brow furrowed as he gripped Levi’s shoulder.
He knew of this Lord of High Cliff Castle and had heard stories about him. He knew the man cultivated the Holy Word Treasure Manual, but was still only at Tier One. No matter how strong he was, there was a limit to his power.
He, on the other hand, was already a Tier Three "Bright Moon" Holy Knight. Compared to "Firefly," which only provided a twofold boost, his Power was amplified sixfold! In terms of raw Power, he had an overwhelming advantage, and so he planned to teach this brat a lesson.
"I’ll admit you’re handsome enough—you might even convince some noble ladies to risk being branded as whores. But that’s not how you get by in this world. I’m not naive like Her Holiness the Holy Mother!"
His brawny arm began to apply pressure, a tremendous force sufficient to make even an accomplished Warrior instantly drop to their knees in agony, utterly humiliated.
So the Lord simply put his own arm around the captain’s shoulder, ready to give him a solid lesson in what real Power felt like.
"Agh!"
The burly man, built like a brown bear, immediately screamed and dropped to his knees. A clear handprint was now imprinted on the thick Golden Arm Armor on his shoulder.
"Saint De, that’s enough!" Fatir’s face was already deathly pale from maintaining the Holy Light Protection, and her own subordinate’s foolishness was giving her an even worse headache. "Levi is a man worthy of respect, both for his strength and his character."
"The fact that he came to rescue us this time is reason enough for all of us to show him respect!"
"Everyone, I know this is hardly the time, but do you have the heart to let an old man like me continue this bloody fight alone?"
Bodoff kicked over a Demon that had crept up on them, gasping for breath as he spoke. "And you, my Lord, thank you for your aid, but we really need to figure out how to get out of here."
"Just call me Levi." Levi released the clueless Holy Knight from his grip.
The old man was clearly a Caster, yet he was fighting enemies with a Longsword in hand. That alone marked him as a high-level Mage.
After all, only the most powerful Mages could afford to have no weaknesses.
The situation was still dire. Countless Demons were swarming onto the platform.
In the sky, Flomos watched with predatory eyes, just waiting for the "turtle shell" of the Holy Light Protection to crack so they could give the group a taste of their pitchforks.
"My men will soon cut a path through the Demons. If you follow me closely as we charge, we can rendezvous with them," Levi said to the dozen or so people present, who were already on the verge of exhaustion.
"There are thousands of Demons just blocking the mountain path, with a few Six-armed Snake Demons overseeing the battle from the rear. A handful of us broken soldiers can’t just charge through that, even with you."
Thanks to his earlier lesson, Saint De’s tone was forced to soften, but that didn’t stop it from being filled with doubt.
His Magical Beast was powerful, to be sure, but even if it got bigger, there’s no way it could carry all dozen of us. And it certainly couldn’t charge through the sea of Demons that already covers this mountain.
"If you can’t do it, just admit it. Don’t speak for the rest of us!"
The Lord couldn’t be bothered to explain. He simply looked at Fatir. "Fatir, can you still walk?"
Fatir honestly shook her head.
By now, her Magic Power was almost completely depleted. The fact that she could persist and remain standing was a testament to her profound Magic Cultivation.
But no matter how profound, it couldn’t replenish her physical stamina out of thin air.
Mages like Bodoff were exceedingly rare; most Casters were not in good physical condition.
With no sense of ceremony, Levi simply tossed her onto his back. The Holy Light Protection she had been maintaining vanished.
"You..." Saint De began to protest.
But the Lord cut him off ruthlessly. "You want to do it?"
"I believe Levi can get us out of here!" Fatir’s firm words dispelled any remaining doubts the Holy Knights had.
As the mortal representative of the Holy Light Goddess, Fatir’s words, to a certain degree, represented the Goddess’s will.
The group hesitated no longer. They charged down from the cramped platform onto the path below. It was a narrow mountain trail, only wide enough for a dozen people to walk abreast, flanked on both sides by sheer cliff faces.
"I’ll take on these ones, you go after—" Saint De’s words died in his throat. What was happening below shocked him into silence, and his mouth snapped shut as if vowing never to utter another word.
Levi led the charge. With a mighty swing of his Giant Sword, there was a sharp SWISH. It was like countless stalks of wheat being sliced at the waist, falling in a CLATTERING heap. The path ahead was suddenly empty.
Before such a display of power, the Demons seemed as weak and helpless as wooden dummies in a training yard.
The narrow path allowed his individual prowess to be displayed in its full glory.
The very Demons that had driven the group to the mountain peak were now nothing more than lambs to the slaughter, being butchered indiscriminately.
Levi’s advance never paused for a second. Every step he took left a carpet of mangled limbs in his wake.
"Weren’t you all headed to White Bone Fortress for reinforcements? How did you end up here?" Levi asked, continuing his slaughter. These Babu Demons at the front were barely on par with village Militia; they were so unremarkable that he found it hard to take the fight seriously.
With every swing of his sword, another row of them fell.
This terrifying display sent the Demons in front scrambling back in fear. However, they were shoved forward by their oblivious comrades in the rear, who herded them one by one to become ghosts on Levi’s blade.
