Chapter 982: Chapter 135: Let’s Reverse the Tide! (Part 3)

"Boom!!!"

The previously calm surface of the Brionne River erupted with a deafening blast, tearing through the clamor of the battlefield! This was no natural surge but the unleashed roar of some terrifying power. A towering, dark green tidal wave, dozens of meters high, abruptly shot from the center of the river, as if an entire cliff section had been uprooted by an invisible giant hand, then violently hurled toward the narrow right bank of the river valley!

Dozens of meters high, this colossal wave could drown buildings taller than ten stories and turn anything made of flesh and blood into mere ants.

This wave no longer resembled raging river water but had transformed into a liquid wall that annihilated everything, engulfing countless whirlpools and undercurrents. With overwhelming force, it mercilessly crashed towards the dwarf shield array which had moments ago been celebrating victory by squeezing the remnants of the Black Lynx Knight Order. And beyond them, towards the elite Knights of the Fallen Wolf Mercenary Corps attempting to block the riverbank and cut off the enemy’s retreat.

"Goddess above!" Su Li’s face froze in excitement, transforming into a shocked gasp of disbelief. Standing on a low hill, he could distinctly see how the moving, sky-blocking shadow of the "water wall" swallowed the light from the valley below in an instant.

Time seemed to stretch on but under the absolute might of the wave, it appeared incredibly brief.

First to bear the brunt were the dwarf shield array, closest to the riverbank, fiercely pushing the last batch of Black Lynx Knights into the abyss. The victory cries ceased abruptly, replaced by terrified shouts. The steel barrier, condensed from dwarf bravery and fighting spirit, appeared as fragile as a sandcastle before this earth-shattering force. At the moment the wave crashed down, the heavy shields, sophisticated plate armor, and robust dwarf warriors were crushed into the muddy water, only to be quickly swept to the river’s center by the rolling waves. Only a handful of dwarven butchers with reflexes and physiques most vigorous managed, instinctively, to plunge their war axes deep into the crevices of riverbank rocks before being consumed by the wave’s first impact, preventing themselves from being completely swept away. Nonetheless, they too struggled and tumbled within the waves, like dead leaves in a storm.

Soon after, the knights of the Fallen Wolf Mercenary Corps fell victim. Their horse-bound agile figures transformed into slow motion in face of the colossal wave. The furious water wall quickly caught up to the galloping warhorses, as the ice-cold river water struck their flanks and hind legs with irresistible force. The horses’ piercing cries drowned under the roar of the waves, their strong bodies easily overturned and crushed, along with the disciplined elite knights on their backs clad in wolf skin cloaks. They were flung into the sky like ragged dolls and harshly slammed into the rolling currents below. The wolf helmets flashed briefly amidst the frothy spray, while Yurik’s wolf skin cloak ripped and entwined rapidly disappeared within the swirling whirlpool depths. Along the riverbank chaos ensued, as the knights, narrowly missing the direct impact of the wave, failed to rein in their steeds in time, colliding and trampling one another. More were quickly pursued and consumed by the rapidly rising floodwaters as they attempted to flee.

The furious river water instantly engulfed the entire narrow battlefield on the right bank, with water levels rising frantically at speeds visible to the naked eye. The turbulent waves lashed against the steep cliff walls, unleashing thunderous crashes, stirring up even greater sprays of water mist. The battlefield engaged in fierce combat just moments ago transformed into a swampy wasteland within the blink of an eye. Soldiers’ cries, weapons clashing, and horses neighing all got covered and drowned by the deafening sound of the waters. Above the water surface, only sporadic weapon fragments, shattered shields, and floating bodies remained (many of whom were Black Lynx Knights just pushed into the river). Amidst the murky waves countless despairing arms and heads bobbed up and down, disappearing into the depths.

The icy river water even surged up the foot of the low hill, wetting Su Li’s boots. He stared in awe at the valley below, which had turned into a death trap in an instant. The scales of victory, within a mere few breaths, were completely overturned by this towering wave!

Hilude’s valiant face was filled with solemnity, her gaze as sharp as an eagle’s eyes fixed on the Rapids Castle at the edge of the cliff: "It’s Manan’s Divine Magic: Water Fluctuation! But the power of this magic is incredibly great, I just felt an immense divine power surging skyward from the Rapids Castle."

Is this Water Fluctuation?

Su Li had researched Manan’s Divine Magic before, Water Fluctuation—where you unleash a powerful flood of seawater from your outstretched hands. As this water originates from the ocean, it also contains quite a bit of sand, fish, and crustaceans, who are equally shocked by their unfortunate destiny.

Apparently, the unfortunate entities in this current Manan Divine Magic were far too powerful, morphing from sand, fish, and crustaceans into Black Lynx Knights.

Furthermore, these Black Lynx Knights did not appear like pathetic soaked chickens shoved into the water. Instead, they donned full armor, grasped their weapons, and reformed into ranks standing upon the water.

Manan’s Divine Magic: Water Walking Technique—you can walk on the water surface. Additionally, you can traverse marshes as if walking on solid ground.

Joseph, forced into the river, regrouped and refreshed, standing at the forefront of the Black Lynx Knight Order, excitedly laughing, and bellowing furiously toward the dwarves on the mountaintop: "Hahaha, you dwarves thought your victory was assured? Without preparation, would we have launched a reckless assault?"

On the mountaintop, the dwarves’ eyes reddened with rage, nearly abandoning the assault on the mountain camp, turning around while roaring: "Fight these wildcats, avenge our comrades!"
