Death was everywhere they passed through. When they recall that these ’natural disasters’ were ultimately caused by ’someone,’ they inevitably feel livid about it.

"Those damned aliens..." Linlin said with gritted teeth as her eyes fixed on the sights around her.

At this, Hans looked at the two in front. "Why didn’t the aliens target the government centers?" he asked, just out of curiosity. According to the radio, some cities were obliterated, but the center of power, at least in their country, was okay.

"They never thought much of our species to bother with that kind of scheming," Naia explained. "Further, they needed to absorb as much life as possible. There was no reason to cut down their prey before landing."

Even the natural disasters were designed to weaken the population and shake their spirits. The aliens did nothing else after the Fall, opting to gather energy so they could fully awaken.

When they passed by a family mourning at the side, two children were sobbing with their father, looking at their mother who had been crushed under a falling concrete slab.

It was a heartbreaking sight.

The twins cursed the aliens again. They also wondered whether they could help the family, but then they saw the hundreds of injured around them and shut their mouths.

The space was Naia’s, and they didn’t have the face to demand its use. Naia mentioned the space consumed energy, and it would consume more and more as they added people. Naia never quantified how much energy was consumed, but people would naturally assume a lot, considering how magical and convenient the space was.

But still...

"Can’t...we help them?" Linlin couldn’t help but ask, just in case, and Hans was also looking at Naia with a sincere expression on his face.

"We can, but you’ll be responsible for everything. Do not ask me for anything."

As they went through the bumpy roads and alleys and streets, Hans felt more and more anxious.

"Sis, can you detail the upcoming disasters more?" Hans asked very naturally, never questioning Naia and Kael’s ’prophetic’ abilities at all.

They only knew what had been gathered after years of research and serendipitous finds. Further, not everyone had the same memory of the disaster. Everyone was in different places and was affected differently, so naturally the data was a bit skewed and could only be used as reference.

"We know the three major meteorites landed in different places of the globe, all to trigger a massive set of disasters that would affect the entire world."

"There were numerous tsunami events, and a number of nuclear factories were destroyed and spread materials in adjacent territories, poisoning patches of land."

In some countries, coastal seawater was contaminated, fishing zones were lost permanently, and ecological dead zones appeared everywhere.

Even with just these, the world changed to an unrecognizable degree in the span of a few months, let alone years.

"After the Fall, the vapor and dust from the impact would enter the atmosphere, wreaking havoc in our weather systems."

"In the next week or so, the first global mega storm should arrive, and this is what we’re trying to avoid."

They were talking about major typhoons and tornadoes here. This was short, only about a week in most places, but extremely damaging, especially since people were still recovering from the disaster.

Not to mention, many people had lost their homes—and any shelter for that matter—even handling a normal storm would be deadly, let alone one so intense it could change terrain.

"There is also acid rain," she added. This acid rain appeared in many areas affected by the nuclear material that had spilled over to the sea. It was diluted, and it didn’t appear in concentrated amounts everywhere, but it still spread out long-lasting damage.

One, in people, as many people who were rained on developed mutations, and not the good type. Many became deformed, cancerous, and so on. Another, the resources it affected were basically poisoned to some degree.

Naia’s mum once told her, with a regrettable tone of voice, that one of the remaining resilient forests was rained on, damaging a lot of plants, directly killing some of them as if burned from within.

They had warned the government about these details. They were not sure whether they had handled the nuclear plants based on the information they had provided.

And this was just the beginning.

While the atmosphere in the car was somber—

They heard something hit the side window, realizing it was a person.

Hans, who was deep in introspection, turned and saw a bloodied face seemingly staring right at him.

"gAh!" He screamed as he saw the bloodied man. He had totally forgotten their cars were all heavily tinted.

Kael didn’t even look. "Just ignore him. If he can keep hanging on, that’s his skill."

This car was especially outfitted to be impenetrable. What was one man?

Linlin’s eyes were brimming with tears. This was especially close to her heart as she had written stories about this.

"Wait."

Unexpectedly, it was Naia who took action. She blinked when she saw the face of the middle-aged man.

"I know him. Let him in," she said. "He could be of great help to us."

It was none other than Dock Houffen, the genius chemist.
