The interview with Fresh TV had a light and entertaining style, primarily featuring highly-upvoted questions collected from the internet to ask the guest.
The first question came from a netizen with the username "Jojo’s Fluffball."
"Question: When will Joanna’s new show air?" the reporter asked, looking at the cue card in her hand. She then let out an exaggerated sigh. "Ah, this question is way too easy."
It was perfectly normal for a fan to ask about a new show’s release date. The reporter chose this question to do Joanna a favor and indirectly promote her new drama.
Joanna Kennedy knew this full well. She stated the air date, gave the new drama some appropriate promotion, and concluded, "The plot of this show is quite interesting. I personally love it, and I hope it won’t disappoint the audience."
"If Joanna herself is saying that, then we’ll have to check it out and see what kind of plot could make the actress herself call it interesting."
"Hahaha, now I’m feeling the pressure," Joanna said, feigning distress.
The reporter played along smoothly. "Pressure creates motivation. Joanna, you have to keep joining new projects and acting for us."
"If everyone doesn’t get tired of me, I would be honored."
It was a humble answer that put the audience and her fans first. Whether she was sincere or not, it was a move that was sure to win her more fans.
The reporter moved on to the second question, and this one was interesting.
"A member of The Donovan Residence asks, what type of partner does Joanna like? Are there any hard-and-fast standards?"
It’s quite normal for fans to ask about a celebrity’s standards for a partner, but since Joanna Kennedy had just been a trending topic for this very reason, the question felt a little delicate.
The reporter was about to say something to skip the question, but Joanna Kennedy had already started speaking, feigning thoughtfulness. "What type of partner do I like..."
"Let me think..." Joanna said. A few seconds later, as if she had figured it out, she smiled and said naturally, "I like handsome guys with great bodies."
"As for a hard requirement... I guess it would be that he has to know how to cook," Joanna said.
She answered earnestly, without being dismissive or impatient. The smile on the reporter’s face grew wider as she teased, "I didn’t realize you were so focused on looks, Joanna."
"And you like guys who can cook because you can’t?" the reporter asked, winking playfully.
When Joanna Kennedy first became famous, she had been on a food show and a lifestyle reality show. Her disastrous cooking skills had been put on display for the entire country to see.
There was a running joke from back then. On the show, before she started cooking, Joanna had smiled shyly and said, "Please forgive my clumsy attempt."
Everyone thought she was just being modest. But when the pitch-black dish came out, the bullet comments exploded: "She really wasn’t kidding!" "She actually *is* clumsy!" "I’ve never seen anyone manage to burn shredded potatoes like that."
Joanna obviously remembered the embarrassing incident as well. She touched her nose, looking a little sheepish, and didn’t argue back. "It’s about complementing each other..."
"Hahahaha, you’re right. You have to find a boyfriend who complements you," the reporter chimed in, then added, "A man who can cook is the most charming."
Although modern society constantly advocates for gender equality, many people’s mindsets were still deeply entrenched. They believed women should know how to cook and do housework, while men didn’t belong in the kitchen.
Because of this, Joanna Kennedy’s terrible cooking skills were still a target for her haters.
They didn’t linger on the topic. After a few more questions, they played a little game where Joanna was asked to leave a question for the next celebrity being interviewed.
It was a novel segment. Joanna thought for a moment, then wrote down a question.
After the interview, the reporter smiled, looking a bit sheepish. "Joanna, could I have your autograph? I’m one of Joanna’s Fans."
Joanna was a little surprised; she hadn’t noticed at all. The reporter had seemed so poised and professional during the interview.
The reporter seemed to guess what she was thinking and looked even more embarrassed. "Well, it’s my job. I have to be professional."
That made sense. Joanna liked people who were so candid and responsible. She not only gave her autograph but also wrote a short, encouraging message.
Handing the signed postcard to the reporter, Joanna smiled and took the initiative to say, "I look forward to seeing you again."
She was wearing light makeup today, looking as fresh and sweet as a ripe peach. When she smiled, her almond-shaped eyes sparkled brightly.
’AAAAHHH, MY QUEEN!! She’s so fresh and perfect! I’m saved!’ The reporter was screaming internally, her face flushing red. She stammered, "S-See you next time."
They were delayed for a bit. Mindy Morgan asked what had happened, and Joanna Kennedy briefly explained before asking, "Do I have any other appointments today?"
Joanna didn’t usually ask about her schedule so eagerly right after a job, which made Mindy Morgan suspicious again. "Do you have other plans today?"
Joanna’s eyes darted to the side. She coughed twice. "No."
"I want to go back and rest. I’m a little tired," Joanna claimed, punctuating her words with a well-timed yawn to show she was truly exhausted.
Her superb acting successfully fooled Mindy Morgan. "Alright, then. I was planning to take you back after dinner, but if you want to rest, I’ll take you now."
"Thanks, Mindy," Joanna beamed.
Mindy filled her in on some upcoming variety shows, telling Joanna to do some prep work when she had time. Joanna agreed to everything.
The car turned at the next intersection, heading toward Sinclair Gardens. This road led to a wealthy district; there was little traffic, and the road wasn’t very wide.
A black stretch Lincoln parked sideways in the middle of the road was enough to block it completely. Mindy Morgan stopped the car, frowning. "What’s going on...?"
’Who parks like that? Rich people are so arrogant. They’re obviously trying to cause trouble,’ Mindy thought. She said, "Stay in the car. Don’t get out. I’ll go ask what’s up."
Joanna didn’t answer. She stared at the stretch Lincoln’s license plate, and as a realization dawned, her brow furrowed and her expression turned icy. "Mindy, don’t bother. Just drive away."
Mindy, who was looking down to unbuckle her seatbelt, froze at her words before she could react. "Why? Aren’t you going home?"
In the few seconds she hesitated, the door of the stretch Lincoln opened. Someone got out. A knock sounded on their car window. Mindy looked up and met the eyes of a bodyguard in a black suit outside.
"..."
’What... is going on?’
Mindy finally realized something was wrong. When the man knocked on the window again, she ignored him and tried to start the car, only to see in the rearview mirror that the road behind them was now blocked by another black car.
They were blocked in from the front and back. A bodyguard pulled a baseball bat from the car—a clear warning. Mindy’s face went pale, her mind completely blank, unsure of what to do.
She was just a manager, after all. She had never experienced anything like this and instantly panicked.
In that moment, however, Joanna was perfectly calm and composed. She took out her phone, quickly sent a text message, and then immediately powered it off. Her cool, detached voice filled the car. "Mindy, open the door."
