Chapter 161: Chapter 161: The Final Stand

A/N:4/8 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Cynthia’s Garchomp was truly powerful.

But precisely because Garchomp was powerful, battling her was meaningful.

Gallade’s eyes were firm, and endless fighting spirit surged in his heart.

Garchomp was the worthy opponent he had always longed for.

On the surface, however, Gallade remained calm. He even restrained his fighting spirit and returned to a state as still as water.

Only by maintaining reason would the blades he swung be fast enough, precise enough, and sharp enough!

Garchomp’s fins were powerful.

But Gallade’s blades were not dull either!

"Garchomp, Dual Chop!"

"Gallade, dodge and use Psycho Cut!"

Compared to their last exchange, Garchomp’s strength and speed had both increased.

Gallade’s figure was light, like a swallow in flight. His steps shifted, avoiding the fin Garchomp brought down.

His body spun in mid-air, and he sent a purple blade of energy towards Garchomp.

Garchomp raised her fin to block.

The purple blade struck her fin and left a shallow cut behind.

Garchomp lowered her head and looked at it. She had not expected Gallade to improve this much.

Last time, he had been unable to do anything to her. This time, the blade he released could actually cut through her dragon scales.

But such a small injury did not affect Garchomp’s movement at all.

"Garchomp, Dragon Rush!"

Garchomp shot into the sky. Powerful killing intent locked onto Gallade.

Both Gallade and Julian knew that this move could not be avoided.

They could only face it head-on.

"Sacred Sword!"

With Julian’s Aura reinforcing him, Gallade’s Sacred Sword became even sharper. Powerful white sword energy extended more than three feet beyond his elbow blade.

Cynthia raised an eyebrow.

So sharp today, Julian?

Garchomp activated Dragon Rush. A purple dragon’s shadow coiled around her body, forming a violent energy vortex.

Her wings spread like the scythes of death. As she dived, the air let out a piercing boom, and the ground trembled under her pressure.

Gallade stood motionless. His elbow blades burst with dazzling white light.

Just as Garchomp was about to crash into him...

Gallade suddenly swung his blade. The light of Sacred Sword tore through the air like dawn cutting through darkness.

The moment the two powers collided, a deafening roar erupted.

The purple dragon’s shadow and white sword light intertwined. The shockwave spread in every direction, stirring up a gale. Sand and stone were swept into the air, forming a massive vortex.

Garchomp’s roar and Gallade’s low shout echoed within the storm of energy.

Garchomp’s claws dug deep into the ground, dragging out long scars.

Gallade knelt on one knee, the fading light of Sacred Sword still clinging to his elbow blade.

He was already at his limit.

Garchomp breathed lightly, vast energy surging through her body.

"Garchomp, Dual Chop!"

Light flashed in Julian’s eyes.

"Aerial Ace!"

Gallade used his Mind’s Eye swordsmanship and spun through the air.

He avoided Garchomp’s Dual Chop, then swung his blade at the wound on the fin of Garchomp’s left arm.

Sword energy entered the fin, making Garchomp let out a pained roar.

Before Garchomp could counterattack, Gallade, who had exhausted every last bit of his stamina, collapsed on his own.

At the final moment, Gallade had successfully dealt serious damage to Garchomp’s left arm.

In the coming battle, Garchomp would find it difficult to use that left arm for attack or defence.

Even her flight posture would be affected.

This was Gallade’s final ripple left for the one who came after him.

After thinking it over, Julian still chose his starter Pokémon.

"Go, Hakamo-o. Fight for me!"

Hakamo-o raised his head and roared.

For this day to come, he had not hesitated to let Gallade use his strongest attacks to break through his dragon scales.

All so he could obtain even stronger defence and stand against Garchomp.

"Dragon Claw!"

Garchomp naturally had her pride as well.

Every Dragon-type Pokémon, and even those draconic species within the Dragon Egg Group, possessed a kind of pride.

Gallade had indeed seriously injured Garchomp’s left arm.

But Garchomp was full of confidence.

Even without her left arm, she could still destroy Hakamo-o!

"Dragon Claw!"

Julian responded with the same move.

A fight between dragons did not need anything fancy.

Only the simplest clash of strength.

Even with only her right arm, Garchomp’s strength still allowed her to hold back both of Hakamo-o’s hands.

She even spun and swung the fin on her right arm again.

Hakamo-o was sent flying.

His legs ploughed into the ground, leaving two deep marks behind.

Cynthia smiled and did not say anything about Garchomp acting on her own.

But Julian’s Hakamo-o had become even tougher again!

Then, could Hakamo-o’s dragon scales withstand this move?

"Dragon Rush!"

"Outrage!"

Garchomp’s crimson eyes suddenly narrowed. She once again flew into the sky, and a violent purple dragon’s shadow erupted around her body.

Even with her left arm injured, her left wing still spread like a blade.

A little pain cutting into the bone was something Garchomp could endure.

Her execution of Dragon Rush did not distort in the slightest.

Violent draconic power erupted from Hakamo-o’s scales, stimulating his eyes until they turned bloodshot. He swung his Dragon Claw and charged towards the descending Garchomp.

The ground cracked inch by inch. Broken stones were swept into the sky by the raging airflow.

Garchomp landed, supporting her body with her right claw.

Hakamo-o rolled backwards several times in a rather sorry state.

Although his attack power was inferior to Gallade’s, Hakamo-o’s vitality and defence were much better, and he still had enough strength to continue fighting.

His breathing was heavy, but the fighting spirit in his eyes had not gone out.

He let out a loud dragon roar and charged towards Garchomp on his own initiative.

He frantically swung Dragon Claw, striking Garchomp’s body again and again.

Garchomp swung her fins, brawling with Hakamo-o.

Cynthia was a little surprised.

Hakamo-o’s attack pattern...

Julian took the initiative to explain.

"That’s right. It’s Close Combat!"

"Hakamo-o really is clever. He actually managed to integrate the forward momentum of Close Combat into the same violent, unstoppable rhythm of Outrage."

Cynthia raised an eyebrow.

This Hakamo-o is really talented!

Garchomp swept her tail out and sent Hakamo-o flying again.

Looking at the wounds on her body, even Garchomp could not help feeling impressed by Hakamo-o’s rapid progress.

"Cynthia, Garchomp, receive our final strike!"

"Hakamo-o, Aura Sphere!"

After being struck by Aura Sphere from Cynthia’s Lucario and Togekiss, it was finally time for him, a true Aura user, to fight back.

After Outrage, amid the confusion brought by that violent power, Hakamo-o retained a thread of clarity under the protection of Julian’s Aura.

A blue Aura Sphere condensed. Hakamo-o stared fixedly at Garchomp.

"Roar!"

Garchomp, receive my final Aura Sphere!

Garchomp roared as well. She would never fear any Pokémon’s challenge!

Opening her mouth, she spat out a purple dragon-shaped beam to meet it.

The Aura Sphere actually broke through Garchomp’s Dragon Pulse.

Garchomp raised the fin on her right arm and blocked the remaining power of the Aura Sphere.

Hakamo-o stood straight in place, already having lost the ability to battle.
