Julian clapped his hands and returned to Cynthia’s side.
"Tonight, please have Lucario help watch him. If he makes any moves, have Lucario stop him immediately."
Cynthia raised an eyebrow.
"You’re afraid he’ll sneak into the cave and attack us after you fall asleep?"
Julian smiled.
"No. I’m afraid that after eating his fill and recovering his stamina, he’ll just run away."
Looking at Miraidon, who was gently sniffing the fragrance of the flowers before sneezing and crushing the wildflowers with one claw, Julian frowned.
"There’s no love in his heart. Teaching him will take a long time. I’m afraid he’ll just run off like this."
Cynthia nodded in agreement.
"That’s true. But since you’re afraid he’ll run away, why not put him into a Poké Ball now?"
Julian smiled and said, "I want to see whether he’ll still run or try to ambush me after being tamed, fed, and treated by me."
"I need to judge what position I currently hold in his heart. That’ll make it easier to plan the next stage of training."
Cynthia nodded.
"A Pokémon like this has to be taught with both kindness and authority. I thought you were too gentle and wouldn’t be willing to be strict."
Julian smiled.
"We’re in the dangerous Great Crater of Paldea. I can’t gamble with everyone’s lives."
Catching Miraidon was fine.
But the most important thing was safety!
Safety! Safety!
This Miraidon still needed to be slowly trained.
Otherwise, if he later charged out of Veilstone Gym and onto the streets of Veilstone City, hurting passers-by and destroying buildings, that would be catastrophic.
From Miraidon’s attitude towards the wildflowers, one could see the coldness in his heart.
Only when he understood love would Julian truly have caught him.
Right now...
It could only count as physical persuasion.
During dinner, Primeape volunteered to keep watch over Miraidon.
It had been two days already, and Primeape had not received a single battle assignment.
His fists had long since been starving.
Conveniently, this Miraidon clearly was not an obedient one.
No matter what Miraidon wanted to do, Primeape would have a reason to properly fight him with his fists.
Unfortunately, Primeape was disappointed!
Miraidon, this guy...
He actually obediently lay on the grass and slept through the night.
No small tricks at all!
Primeape was incredibly depressed.
Early the next morning, Julian smiled and rubbed Primeape’s head.
"Alright. If there’s a battle assignment today, I’ll leave it to you, okay?"
Hakamo-o also raised his hand.
"Hakamo-o!"
"Fine. You too."
After spending one night together, Julian believed Miraidon could be considered basically half-tamed.
So during breakfast today, Miraidon was arranged to sit together with everyone.
There were so many Pokémon here. Each one was around Miraidon’s level, and quite a few were even stronger than him.
Especially the two Dragon types, Garchomp and Goodra.
They put the greatest pressure on him.
However, he was very surprised.
So many powerful Pokémon could actually sit together and quietly eat.
In truth, there was some playing and roughhousing between the Pokémon.
But in Miraidon’s eyes, this was almost impossibly harmonious.
He had never imagined that two powerful Pokémon could be this close and peaceful with each other.
There was no tense atmosphere of fighting over territory or hostility.
Eating the food in his bowl, Miraidon felt strangely comfortable.
There was delicious food, and so many powerful companions moving together.
Was there any safer place to live than this?
While they were eating breakfast, Julian saw Primeape occasionally glaring at Miraidon with unfriendly eyes.
Suddenly, Julian thought of a good idea!
He could ask Miraidon whether he had ever seen Primeape or Annihilape.
Miraidon completely ignored Primeape’s gaze.
He focused on eating.
Unless Primeape attacked first, or Julian was not present...
Miraidon definitely would not make a move.
Although he also really wanted to beat Primeape up.
But Primeape was also afraid of being scolded by Julian, so he deliberately glared at Miraidon.
Julian smiled.
Primeape had become smarter.
He wanted to provoke Miraidon into attacking first.
Then he could enjoy a fight without being scolded by Julian afterwards.
After breakfast, Julian came to Miraidon’s side.
"Have you seen Pokémon similar to Primeape before?"
He looked at Primeape and thought seriously.
He seemed to have once stolen food from a few monkeys in a forest.
They seemed to be this kind...
He nodded.
"Miraidon."
Julian rubbed Miraidon’s head. The smooth dragon scales felt pretty good.
"Take me to them."
Miraidon immediately lowered his body, signalling for Julian to get onto his back.
"No rush. Wait until I pack up."
Cynthia was a little worried.
"Wouldn’t it be risky to ride him?"
Julian shook his head.
"No. During breakfast, he had actually already begun to recognise our team."
"And right now, he believes he can’t beat me. As long as I don’t show weakness, he won’t rebel."
"Besides, I don’t plan to ride him right now."
...
With Miraidon leading the way, Julian’s group smoothly arrived at the very bottom of the Great Crater of Paldea.
In other words, the legendary Area Zero.
The environment in Area Zero was even better. Just lightly taking a breath made Julian feel the inner energy in his body circulate faster.
Perhaps this was what legends meant by a blessed land.
Pokémon nurtured in this kind of environment would also become even stronger.
It would not be strange for Annihilape to be born here.
After entering the forest, they indeed heard the chattering cries of Primeape.
The Primeape seemed to be fighting.
Arriving at an open space, they saw several Primeape surrounding and attacking a Slither Wing.
But the Slither Wing being surrounded was actually the one holding the advantage.
Julian’s Primeape could hardly hold himself back.
He felt these guys were simply embarrassing the Primeape species.
Swinging his fists, he rushed up to help.
"Primeape!"
Hearing Primeape’s shout, the native Primeape were somewhat surprised.
They opened a path, allowing Julian’s Primeape to charge in front of Slither Wing.
He punched towards Slither Wing.
Slither Wing was beaten back, but that also stirred its anger.
Burning with fierce flames, it began fighting Primeape.
Slither Wing was very strong. It directly knocked Primeape flying.
But Primeape did not care at all. He ignited with crimson fury and rushed back.
One Dynamic Punch sent Slither Wing flying.
All the Primeape present opened their mouths wide.
Where did this guy come from?
So strong!
Was he trying to become their monkey king?
Cynthia frowned.
"They’re all just ordinary Primeape. I don’t see any trend towards evolution."
At the cry of one Primeape, the group prepared to step forward and help.
But Julian’s Primeape refused.
Such a great opponent like Slither Wing should obviously be fought by him alone!
Carrying his rage to the limit, Primeape swung his fist.
Slither Wing flew straight up.
After falling from more than ten metres in the air, Slither Wing turned and ran without looking back.
After driving away Slither Wing, the Primeape warmly took out fruit to entertain Primeape.
Julian also took out Primeape’s food and walked over.
The native Primeape were originally somewhat vigilant, but after Primeape said that Julian was his Trainer, they immediately shared fruit with Julian enthusiastically.
Julian also handed over Pokémon food.
"Everyone, I hope you can help me, and help Primeape, with something."
The Primeape readily agreed.
Julian and Cynthia took out the instruments and began scanning the Primeape one by one.
Unexpectedly, with just the first Primeape, Cynthia’s eyes lit up.
"I found something!"
