Pokémon: My Online Friend Is Cynthia

Chapter 223: Dragging Back Copperajah

Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Dragging Back Copperajah

Julian walked up to the stall and looked at the hanging menu, surprised.

"Boss, one speciality bowl of noodles."

The owner smiled faintly.

"No problem. Just a moment."

The owner was a handsome man with a close-cropped haircut, and his skill with fried noodles was excellent.

"Please enjoy."

Julian took a bite and immediately gave him a thumbs-up.

"Delicious."

The owner smiled proudly.

"This is my own secret recipe."

"My name is Chris. You’re welcome to come to Solaceon Town for noodles anytime."

After finishing the noodles, Julian and Cynthia bought tickets and entered the haunted house.

The ticket seller at the entrance was dressed like a witch.

"Little lady, don’t get too scared. Young man, make sure you protect the girl beside you."

Julian nodded firmly.

"I’ll treasure her more than my own life."

The witch chuckled.

"Looks like you found yourself a good boy."

"Go on in."

The haunted house was made from several connected tents. There was almost no light inside.

Only when the occasional green light flashed overhead could they see the ground and their surroundings.

Cynthia grabbed Julian’s arm, seeming very frightened.

Of course Cynthia was pretending!

What kind of horrors had she not seen before? How could she possibly be afraid of a little haunted house?

But Cassia was only a researcher. It was normal for her to be scared.

Girls should show a little weakness. That was how they stirred up a boy’s protective instincts.

When the first mechanism appeared, Cynthia immediately hugged Julian’s arm tightly in fear.

Julian coughed twice.

Was Cynthia not acting a little too exaggerated?

It was just a small mechanism. Was it really that scary?

The two continued forward. Suddenly, they heard a scream from behind them.

That scream was what truly startled both Julian and Cynthia.

Then they heard a sickly sweet voice behind them.

"Baby, I’m scared. Can you protect me?"

A rather foolish laugh sounded.

"Don’t be scared, baby. I’ll protect you."

"Mmm~ With you here, I feel so, so, so safe~"

Julian’s skin crawled.

The couple behind them had completely ruined the atmosphere Cynthia had worked so hard to create.

"Cassia, let’s walk a little faster."

Cynthia very much wanted to turn back and slap that fake-sweet girl.

But she still smiled faintly.

"Alright."

Julian reached out and interlaced his fingers with Cynthia’s.

"I’ll hold your hand until we’re out. Don’t worry. I absolutely won’t let go."

After passing several not-very-frightening mechanisms, the two finally saw daylight again.

As expected, a haunted house was not truly designed to scare people.

It was purely a sacred dating ground used to bring young couples closer together.

Had the people behind them not caused trouble, this experience should have been quite nice.

Julian looked around and pointed at a cold-drink shop.

"We’ve been walking for quite a while. Let’s sit down at that place for some shaved ice."

They found an empty table and sat down. Julian ordered an extra-large watermelon shaved ice, while Cynthia ordered a medium strawberry shaved ice.

As they were eating, Copperajah and Cufant carried guests past them.

At a table by the roadside, another tourist happened to have ordered an extra-large mango shaved ice.

Copperajah stretched out its trunk, gave a light suck, and the entire bowl of mango shaved ice was drawn into its trunk before being swallowed.

The tourist did not blame Copperajah. He only laughed.

"Boss, I didn’t expect Pokémon from Galar to like your shaved ice this much."

The owner laughed loudly.

"Is that so? Then I’ll count that one as my treat for this Pokémon. I’ll make the guest another serving."

Cynthia frowned slightly.

"Julian, why do I feel like that Copperajah hasn’t eaten enough? It keeps looking for things to eat everywhere."

A somewhat mischievous Cufant tried to leave the line while carrying a guest.

The turbaned handler immediately lashed out with his whip, and Cufant was so frightened that it obediently followed the group again.

Julian frowned as well.

"There definitely seems to be a problem."

"Let’s go find Officer Jenny and report this stall."

Cynthia nodded in agreement.

"I can’t finish my shaved ice. You eat it."

Julian did not stand on ceremony. He took it and finished it in a few quick bites.

For a major event like the fireworks festival, Officer Jenny had naturally brought people to maintain order at the venue.

Finding Officer Jenny was not difficult.

After hearing Julian’s explanation, Officer Jenny nodded.

"A three-metre-tall Copperajah with enormous strength is not being fed properly, and the handler is using a whip to manage them through intimidation."

"That is indeed a safety risk. I’ll send officers over and instruct them to feed Cufant and Copperajah properly before allowing them to carry passengers again."

With the matter handed over to Officer Jenny, the two continued exploring the festival from another direction.

"There are burgers. Cassia, do you want one?"

Cynthia shook her head.

"You eat."

Cynthia looked at the sky. The sun had already begun to set.

Once the bright moon rose, the bonfire festival would officially begin.

Julian ordered two giant burgers, one in each hand. With one bite, he felt utterly satisfied.

A wave of people suddenly surged over, separating Julian and Cynthia.

Julian was just about to look for Cynthia when screams came from the front.

"Run! The elephant’s gone wild!"

Along with an elephant’s cry, Copperajah charged towards them with heavy strides.

In the seat on its back, two terrified children clung to each other.

Julian gritted his teeth and rushed against the crowd.

With one leap, he jumped onto the seat on Copperajah’s back, picked up the two children, and jumped down to an open space by the road.

"Don’t be afraid. You’re safe now. Stay here and don’t run around."

Julian returned immediately and grabbed Copperajah’s tail.

He held Copperajah in place.

"Don’t move. I don’t want to hurt you."

Julian released Aura and worked hard to soothe Copperajah’s emotions.

Sure enough, Copperajah had not been fed properly and had stolen a tourist’s food again.

This time, the tourist was not so generous, and there was no way the turbaned handler would compensate them.

The handler had chosen to whip Copperajah to let the tourist vent their anger.

Could a proud Copperajah endure that kind of humiliation?

It had immediately wrapped its trunk around the handler and thrown him away.

Then it ran wild through the venue!

In truth, it was only walking around while crying out. Copperajah had not actually hurt anyone.

Julian’s soothing did not go smoothly. Copperajah was still struggling.

As expected of an elephant, its strength really was incredible. He almost could not hold on!

Julian suddenly had an idea and hurriedly said, "Stop moving. I can let you eat your fill!"

Hearing that it could eat its fill, Copperajah actually stopped obediently.

Officer Jenny quickly brought people over. Julian said, "Officer Jenny, please prepare food for Copperajah."

It had not eaten enough, had still been forced to work, and had been whipped in public.

For Copperajah to only run wild meant its temper was already very good.

Officer Jenny’s face darkened.

"I’ll prepare it now."

Julian wiped away his sweat and went to a nearby shop to order a cup of sweet water.

Subduing Copperajah had consumed far too much of his energy.

Julian released the last of his Aura, searching for Cynthia’s location.

But he did not find her.

Hm?

Where is my Cynthia?

What’s going on?
