Cynthia nodded repeatedly.

Cynthia turned around with a calm smile.
"Grandma, I believe in him!"

Julian smiled.
"There was a lot of progress. I believe she’ll be my girlfriend very soon."
Darius blinked.
"What do you mean, very soon? Julian, I’m telling you, don’t let Veilstone Gym delay your romance."
"At your age, training Pokémon can be done slowly. But if you miss out on love, that’ll be a lifelong regret."
Julian helplessly shook his head.
"How is the Gym doing?"
Kai seriously reported, "Over these two days, we received eleven challengers in total and handed out five Badges."
Julian frowned.
"Nearly half? Wasn’t your standard a little too low?"
Darius laughed awkwardly.
"I thought their strength was about right, so I handed out Badges."
"You know, my Pokémon have been trained by you until they’re really strong. Ordinary Trainers can’t withstand many punches at all."
"It wouldn’t be good to let them make the trip for nothing, would it?"
Julian’s expression darkened slightly.
Darius judged all Trainers according to one line. If they were above that line, they could receive a Badge.
Julian, on the other hand, divided challengers into several different standards.
The number of Badges they held had to correspond to the matching standard before he would issue one.
That way, the Trainers who received a Badge from him and went on to participate in the Lily of the Valley Conference would all have decent growth potential.
Darius looked at strength.
Julian looked at effort.
The Trainers who passed Julian’s test were not the type who simply caught a few decent Pokémon and then considered themselves strong.
They would continue growing stronger.
If they appeared at the Lily of the Valley Conference, they would all have a chance to place highly.
"Forget it. Kai, you’ll be responsible for observing the challengers. When the time comes, remind Dad not to give Badges to Trainers you think are unqualified."
Kai nodded hard.
"Alright. Master’s idea is good. If even I think a Trainer is unqualified, then they definitely aren’t strong enough."
Darius blinked.
This idea really was excellent.
Any idea that prevented him from having to worry over whether or not to give challengers a Badge was a good idea.

Darius hurriedly asked, "You’re not handling the next Gym challenges?"
Julian nodded.

Julian clasped his hands together, hoping that Palkia, god of space, would look after him a little.
When the time arrived, Julian’s gaze suddenly became sharp.
