Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Hardship

A/N:2/4 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Julian took a deep breath, preparing himself to receive the attribute rewards: Dragon Life Force, Dragon Resistance, and Poison Resistance.

That Poison Resistance really was a little hard to accept.

He had stayed on Fairy Island for half a year. Every day had basically been spent in poison.

The Fairy Pokémon had this to control them.

Unknowingly weakening their potential, letting them die in their sleep.

What a vicious method...

However, judging by Julian’s final experience, the Dragon Pokémon should also have been preparing a counterattack on a smaller island.

System, absorb it!

At first, Julian only felt as if ants were crawling through his body.

Then he felt his stomach and intestines begin to burn, even becoming scorching hot.

Finally, his vision went black, and he fainted.

After sleeping until dawn, Julian woke up and rubbed his forehead.

The life Gible had lived really was not fit for a person.

Even with his steel-like will and physique, he had still fainted from the pain.

As expected, a human body could not compare to a Dragon-type Pokémon’s physique.

Even after so much strengthening, Julian still had limits.

In truth, the system had simply taken the physique Gible had forged over half a year and poured it into Julian overnight.

Even with the system’s protection, it was still far too much.

Julian got out of bed and moved his hands and feet.

As expected, Dragon Life Force was incredible.

All at once, Julian felt twice as strong as before the simulation.

Most importantly, because of that flourishing life force, his body became far more resistant to hunger.

Before, although he had been strong, so many powers stacked inside his body consumed far too much energy.

Even Arceus, when creating the Jewel of Life for humanity, had not forgotten to use the Dragon Plate to provide energy to the other plates that granted life to the earth.

Julian smiled.

Now, he lacked nothing.

Julian walked out of his room, and Kai immediately brought him breakfast.

"Master, I feel like you’re a little different again today. You’re still very handsome, but your presence feels more restrained. You don’t have that intense sharpness from before."

Julian smiled.

"Kai, you even know how to talk about sharpness now? Your training has been going well."

Kai grabbed his hair and laughed foolishly.

"That’s all because Master teaches well."

"Alright, go train. If I’m not full, I’ll go make something in the kitchen myself."

Julian ate breakfast, but he had a feeling that he could absorb energy from the environment through breathing.

It was not much, but it felt like it could make him more resistant to hunger.

Dragon Life Force had not granted Julian any special ability.

It was pure stats, enhancing all his existing abilities.

The purest numbers possessed the most extreme beauty.

He needed to find a Pokémon to practise against.

In the entire Veilstone Gym, the most suitable Pokémon for Julian to spar with was naturally Machamp!

Instructor Machamp was strong enough and had rich experience.

He could draw out all of Julian’s strength.

Back then, it had clearly been Julian who taught the simple Machamp how to guide challengers’ Pokémon into releasing their potential.

Now, that same trick was being used by Machamp on Julian in reverse.

Machamp’s acting was far too refined. Sometimes, Julian could not tell what was real and what was fake.

Darius was following his usual routine, leading his Pokémon through warm-ups.

They were preparing to receive challengers when he heard that Julian wanted to spar with Machamp.

Darius’s eyes widened.

"Are you sure?"

Julian smiled and nodded.

"Don’t worry, Dad. I won’t hurt Machamp and affect your challenges today."

Darius felt a little upset.

"Didn’t you say that backwards?"

Shouldn’t it be Machamp hurting you?

If Julian said he was proficient in all kinds of martial arts techniques, Darius believed that.

But if Julian said he could fight, Darius understood his son’s body best.

Although Julian had worked hard since childhood, his body had indeed been rather weak.

Kai smiled and said, "Gym Leader, Master’s body is already very strong. Last time, I saw Master fight evenly with Machoke."

Since Julian wanted to fight, Darius naturally agreed.

Machamp sighed.

Julian’s strength was neither too high nor too low.

Every time Machamp sparred with Julian, it was mentally exhausting.

If Julian were a little weaker, Machamp could comfortably perform.

If Julian were a little stronger, Machamp could fight him at full power and enjoy himself.

Julian smiled.

"Machamp, I’ve improved a little again this time. Be careful."

Julian stepped forward quickly and punched Machamp.

Machamp did not dodge. Instead, it flexed its muscles and took Julian’s fist directly.

It used Bulk Up to strengthen itself while also testing Julian’s punching power.

Machamp’s eyes widened. It retreated two steps to dissipate the force.

He had actually improved!?

How was this only a little?

That was nearly catching up to the strength Machamp had polished over twenty years.

"Champ!"

Machamp’s eyes changed.

That punch just now had been strong and powerful.

Now, he could fight with full strength.

Machamp did not use moves. It merely used some techniques from Bullet Punch and Mega Punch, swinging all four fists at the same time.

Light burst from Machamp’s eyes.

This thousand-fist barrage carries twenty years of training

Can you withstand it?

Fists filled the air, striking until Julian could not guard against them all and was caught off guard.

With one moment of carelessness, Machamp pulled Julian’s arms apart and opened his centreline.

Instructor Machamp did not hesitate. He directly cut through Julian’s middle.

A fist struck Julian’s chest, and Julian retreated five steps.

Darius was extremely nervous.

"Julian, are you alright?"

Even Darius would feel awful after taking that punch from Machamp.

But Julian simply smiled and rubbed his chest.

"Machamp, you can hit a little harder."

Stirring the fighting energy inside his body, he casually tore off his shirt, revealing muscles carved like an ancient sculpture.

Darius’s eyes widened.

Julian grinned.

"Machamp, take this. This punch will hurt!"

Machamp braced himself. A faint red light flowed across his body.

He also threw a punch, meeting the charging Julian fist to fist.

Machamp retreated fifteen steps.

Julian retreated thirteen steps!

Julian won!

Kai was extremely excited.

"Master won!"

Although it was only a practice match, Kai was even more excited than Julian.

Because the current Julian was exactly the version of himself Kai dreamed of becoming.

A handsome face, muscles carved like stone, and martial arts polished to perfection.

Kai could not help asking himself: eight years from now, can I become as strong as Master is today?

Kai clenched his fists.

"Youth! Let us continue burning!"

"Burn! Burn!"

With a youthful roar, Kai put on weights and began doing push-ups in the back courtyard.

Darius walked over emotionally.

"Son, training your strength to this level must have been very hard, right?"

"Your old man really has, all these years... sigh..."

Julian smiled.

"There’s no need to blame yourself, Dad. It was only a little hardship."
