Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Ultimate Rage
Julian recalled Primeape.
Not long after, Maylene came over to heal her Pokémon, looking dejected.
"Julian, I lost..."
Looking at Maylene’s face, her tears were almost falling.
Julian held Maylene’s chubby little face in both hands.
"If you lost, you lost. Just win it back next time, right?"
Maylene said tearfully, "But I didn’t make it into the top four, so I can’t go travelling."
Julian pulled Maylene into his arms.
"Then I’ll give you another chance. After the tournament ends, I’ll take you and Paul into the wild for camping."
"As long as you master enough wilderness survival experience, I’ll let you go travelling."
Maylene’s eyes immediately lit up, and she smiled through her tears.
"Really?"
Julian rubbed her head.
"Of course. When has your brother ever lied to you?"
"I’ll definitely learn properly!"
A little girl’s sadness came quickly and left quickly.
"Julian, I didn’t win the championship, so you absolutely have to win it!"
Julian smiled.
"Then you’d better cheer for me properly. Otherwise, I won’t be able to win the championship."
Maylene nodded hard.
"Leave it to me!"
...
After a short rest, it was Julian’s turn to go on stage.
Maylene ran to the stands to cheer for him.
Seeing Julian release Primeape again, the audience in the stands immediately became energetic.
The uncle excitedly waved his fist.
"It’s Primeape! Julian’s Gallade is indeed powerful, but I like this unruly Primeape even more."
The girl with glasses eagerly took out an instrument and began scanning Primeape.
"This Primeape’s rage is very unusual. It seems to increase Primeape’s power, and... Primeape seems to be able to trigger rage no matter what it does."
"I want to see just how high this Primeape’s rage can rise, and how many times it can increase its strength."
The spiky-haired guy leaned over.
"Wow, high-tech!"
He reached out, wanting to touch it.
The girl with glasses directly smacked him.
"This is the latest scanning instrument. It’s very expensive, and it’s limited edition. If it breaks, buying a second one will be very difficult!"
"If you dare reach out again, I’ll beat you to death!"
The spiky-haired guy quickly waved his hands.
"I won’t touch it. I won’t touch it."
Julian’s opponent was actually a traditionally dressed monk, who released a Girafarig.
The girl with glasses brought up the data.
"Enji, a monk from the Johto region. He inherited secret techniques and supernatural arts, and specialises in raising Psychic-type Pokémon."
"This Girafarig is very strong. Primeape has met an opponent. I believe Girafarig can help me test Primeape’s full data."
The spiky-haired guy was curious.
"Secret techniques and supernatural arts? What are those?"
The girl with glasses shook her head.
"The data doesn’t say, but Enji does indeed have some abilities beyond ordinary people."
The uncle waved a hand.
"Forget Enji. The match has started!"
Enji looked at Primeape and Julian, and a wary glint flashed through his eyes.
Enji really did practise secret techniques and possessed some insight. He could see that Primeape and Julian were extraordinary.
He immediately decided to strike first.
"Girafarig, Swift."
Enji’s Girafarig was indeed powerful.
It truly made Swift unavoidable.
"Primeape, Rock Smash."
Swinging its fists, Primeape smashed most of the stars apart.
Rage appeared around its body.
The remaining stars struck Primeape, making that rage even stronger.
Enji frowned.
His understanding of Primeape was not particularly deep, but he remembered that Primeape’s rage should not be like this.
Primeape could indeed use rage to increase its strength, but the rage was not this high, and the strength increase could not possibly be this great.
This Primeape of Julian’s...
What breed is it?
The girl with glasses was extremely excited.
"Look. Whether Primeape shattered Swift or got hit by Swift, its rage increased."
"And it raised Primeape’s strength by one whole time. It’s simply unbelievable."
The spiky-haired guy’s eyes widened.
"Just smashing a Swift star made Primeape’s strength rise that much?"
"Then if it exchanges a few more moves, won’t Primeape be unbeatable?"
On the field, Enji seized the chance.
"Psychic!"
Girafarig gathered a powerful psychic force and instantly caught Primeape, wildly invading its body.
Seeing Primeape captured by Psychic, Enji secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Primeape, release your rage and break free from Psychic’s restraint. I believe you can definitely do it!"
"Key, key!"
Rage surged wildly.
From a distance, Primeape looked like a red fireball.
Primeape shook itself, and ultimate rage instantly shattered Psychic.
For one instant, Julian seemed to feel that Primeape had reached Annihilape’s state of transcending the physical body.
As for Enji’s expression, it looked as if he had seen a ghost.
"Attack with Mega Punch!"
At Julian’s command, Primeape violently leapt in front of Girafarig.
Primeape punched out, its fist seemingly condensed with the explosive power of a nuclear bomb.
Girafarig flew away with a cry.
Girafarig landed, and the referee raised the flag.
"Girafarig is unable to battle. The winner is Primeape!"
Enji cultivated through ascetic practice in order to master ancient teachings and gain the ability to revive the old Bellchime school.
Along the way, Enji had indeed obtained some results.
But today, seeing Julian and Primeape, he discovered that he still had a very long road ahead.
This Primeape was simply haunted.
Even more like a boxing demon than an actual boxing demon.
After recalling Girafarig and thinking for a moment, Enji took out a Poké Ball and released a Medicham.
Medicham pressed its hands together, looking exactly like a devout monk.
"Medicham, Meditate."
Julian chuckled.
It actually wanted to boost itself in front of him.
Such a petty trick, and you dare show it before an expert?
"Mega Punch!"
Enji waved his monk robe.
"Force Palm."
Fist against fist.
Medicham was forced back repeatedly by Primeape’s overwhelming strength.
But Medicham’s Force Palm energy penetrated Primeape’s fist and seeped into its arm.
Its entire arm went numb, and it could no longer use its right fist to attack.
Primeape’s rage burned fiercely again.
The girl with glasses looked at her computer in surprise.
"Primeape... this..."
The spiky-haired guy leaned in.
"What happened?"
The girl with glasses came back to herself.
"Primeape’s strength has risen by a full ten times!"
"Mega Punch!"
Rage forcibly scattered the energy from Force Palm that had seeped into Primeape’s arm.
Primeape swung its fist towards Medicham.
Neither Enji nor Medicham could believe that someone could still use the same hand to attack after being struck by their Force Palm.
Medicham hurriedly clenched its fist to intercept.
But it was too late.
Primeape punched Medicham squarely in the abdomen, sending it flying into the sky.
"Medicham is unable to battle. The winner is Primeape!"
The girl with glasses typed on her computer.
"It rose again. Twelve times! What a terrifying Primeape!"
Looking at Primeape, whose rage now glowed red-black around it, a strange light flashed through Enji’s eyes.
As expected, this Primeape was born different.
But Enji’s insight also discovered the hidden danger within Primeape’s ability.
As a monk, although he had been mercilessly defeated by Primeape, after returning to the players’ lounge, Enji still found Julian.
"Benefactor, this concerns Primeape’s physical health. This humble monk has something to say... though I do not know whether it should be said."
Julian became somewhat nervous.
"Please speak. Is there something wrong with Primeape’s body?"
