Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Sisters?

Flynn recalled Gyarados, then released a familiar orange-yellow lizard with wings.

Charizard?

Julian’s expression became complicated.

Gyarados, Charizard, and a Salamence that had not yet evolved.

Another Flying-type Dragon Tamer?

Julian could not hold back.

"Flynn, don’t tell me your idol is Lance?"

Flynn became somewhat excited.

"Gym Leader, how did you know? Do you like Dragon-type Elite Four member Lance too?"

Julian smiled.

"I do like him quite a bit. Let’s continue the battle."

Flynn nodded.

"Charizard, red tornado!"

Red tornado?

Julian had never heard of that move.

After seeing Charizard release a scorching gust of wind, Julian suddenly understood.

Heat Wave!

"Dodge, then use Mega Punch!"

"We dodge too. Use Dragon Claw!"

Charizard was flying in the air. Primeape suddenly bounced up, and Charizard had no time to dodge.

It could only directly swing its claws to meet the attack.

It did not look like Dragon Claw.

It was just an ordinary Scratch.

Not even Metal Claw.

After being struck by Primeape, Charizard’s body became unstable, and it almost fell from the air.

Such great strength!

Aside from strengthening its body, Primeape focused entirely on training the single move Mega Punch.

It continuously dug deeper into the move, striving to reach the point where it could face complex battle situations using only one move.

"Charizard, scorching dragon breath!"

Scorching dragon breath...

That’s Flamethrower, right?

"Jump to the ceiling. Downward Chop Punch!"

Were these random move names designed deliberately, or was it eighth-grader syndrome?

Julian decided to learn from him a little.

Primeape suddenly leapt onto the ceiling’s steel frame structure, then swung its fist downward.

Mega Punch!

"Dragon Charge!"

A purple-gold cyclone wrapped around Charizard, violently knocking Primeape away.

Giga Impact!

Primeape braced itself against the front of the cyclone. Its blazing rage withdrew inward like fire, and black light condensed around its fist. One punch pierced through the purple-gold cyclone and struck Charizard heavily on the head.

Then both of them crashed into the rocky battlefield.

"Charizard, pull yourself together!"

Primeape had unconsciously used Rage Fist again.

"Primeape!"

Charizard and Primeape both stood up, their eyes burning as they stared at each other.

Suddenly, blue-purple dragon-shaped energy coiled around Charizard’s body.

Flynn excitedly jumped up and down.

"Outrage! Charizard, you learned Outrage!"

Before coming here, Flynn had been half-believing and half-doubting.

Now, Flynn completely believed it.

Primeape really was a miracle doctor!

It had cured Charizard’s stubborn illness of being unable to learn Dragon-type moves.

Did they think Flynn wanted to shout those move names for Charizard?

Wasn’t it because Charizard could not learn them?

Julian originally wanted to recall Primeape, but Primeape shook its head.

Julian gritted his teeth and agreed to let Primeape continue fighting.

"Go, Charizard!"

"Primeape, Dynamic Punch!"

Charizard dove low.

Primeape swung its fist to clash.

Using Rage Fist had consumed too much of Primeape’s stamina.

Primeape, who no longer dared force itself to endure, and Charizard both lost the ability to battle and fainted.

Flynn then sent out Shelgon, and Julian directly sent out Gallade.

"Shelgon, Dragon Breath!"

"Dodge. Psycho Cut!"

One slash descended, and all that could be heard was a crisp clang!

It could not cut through.

Shelgon’s shell gave Gallade the feeling that it was even harder than Hakamo-o’s dragon scales.

"Shelgon, Dragon Breath!"

"Fury Cutter!"

Gallade continuously swung his blades, each slash faster and stronger than the last.

But at most, they could only leave a small cut on the shell.

Flynn smiled proudly.

"Shelgon’s shell is the strongest defence. It isn’t that easy to break through."

It really was hard to deal with.

"Gallade, Swords Dance!"

"Hurry and use Dragon Breath to interrupt him!"

Gallade spun his body, avoiding Dragon Breath and completing the boost.

"Dual Chop!"

Dragon-type energy poured in, and the expression on Shelgon’s face finally changed slightly.

But the power was still not enough.

Julian decided to continue boosting.

"Swords Dance."

Shelgon was very hard, but it was also very heavy and clumsy. It had no way to stop Gallade from boosting.

Before long, Gallade had completed three Swords Dance boosts.

Gallade’s body was not sturdy enough to support a fourth Swords Dance.

This was already his limit.

"Sacred Sword!"

"Protect!"

A green barrier appeared around Shelgon’s body, but the pure white blade cut through it as smoothly as a hot knife through butter.

It broke through Protect and left a clear wound on Shelgon’s head.

Shelgon collapsed to the ground, but a faint white light lit up around its body before quickly dispersing again.

Julian blinked.

Gallade’s Sacred Sword had almost split the shell open and forced Shelgon to evolve?

Flynn recalled Shelgon with some regret.

It seemed it really had to be Primeape the miracle doctor.

If Shelgon had battled Primeape the miracle doctor, perhaps it could have evolved directly.

Flynn’s eyes lit up.

"Mr Veyne, can I challenge you again tomorrow and let Shelgon battle your Primeape?"

Julian shook his head.

"I’m afraid not. The Gym is closed tomorrow."

Flynn looked at him expectantly.

"Then the day after tomorrow?"

"The day after tomorrow too. I think Shelgon’s evolution should be allowed to happen naturally. Don’t keep thinking about relying on external force to help Shelgon evolve."

"Haste makes waste. That would actually be bad for its growth."

Flynn bowed ninety degrees.

"Thank you for your guidance, Mr Veyne!"

Just solving the issue of Charizard being unable to learn Dragon-type moves had already resolved a major worry for Flynn and Charizard.

Flynn dug around in his pocket, took out a pure white fang, and gave it to Julian.

"I don’t have much as a gift, so I’ll give this to you. This is an item made from a dragon fang shed by my grandfather’s Dragonite. A Dragon Fang."

"Because my grandfather’s Dragonite is very good at using Dragon Dance, aside from the usual effect of enhancing Dragon-type moves, this Dragon Fang also helps with learning Dragon Dance."

A special item!

Will it have any effect on Garchomp?

"My Shelgon still hasn’t evolved after ten years, so I really have become a little anxious."

Ten years!

That really was hard to endure without getting anxious.

"Let’s go. I’ll drive. We’ll go to the Pokémon Centre together."

He left Primeape there to observe its condition overnight.

Julian drove back alone.

Not long after he returned, Julian heard knocking at the door again.

Opening the door, a powerful wave of joy swept through Julian.

"Cassia!"

Cassia stood before him in a white dress, her long golden hair braided over her left shoulder, wearing a white sunhat on her head.

At this moment, a pair of small hands waved in front of Julian.

"Come back to earth!"

Only then did Julian react, asking somewhat incoherently, "No... you... time... didn’t you say you had no time?"

Beside her, a girl wearing a pale blue sunhat, with the same golden hair casually falling loose, and a pale blue dress, smiled and said:

"Of course my sister specially took leave for you. Hello, I’m Cassia’s younger sister, Kale."

This Kale was naturally Caitlin, who planned to sit back and watch the drama.

Younger sister?

So soon?

Had he and Cassia already reached the stage of meeting relatives?

Facing Kale’s extended hand, Julian somewhat dazedly reached out and shook it.

"Hello, Miss Kale."

Then he reacted and quickly moved aside.

"Please, come in."

Julian directly brought the two of them to the back, to the family living room.

"Please sit first. I’ll make tea."

It was still the familiar jasmine tea.

Kale teased, "Sister, the tea you’ve liked drinking at home recently seems to be this too, right?"

Julian restrained his joy and turned back to get the pastries.

Cynthia used a murderous gaze to signal Caitlin not to cause trouble.
