Pokémon: My Parallel World Daughters Revealed
Chapter 33: Raina and Lapras Choose Each OtherThe Trainers remained rooted in place, their faces alternating between pale and flushed.
The leader opened his mouth, then glanced at the unconscious Crobat lying on the ground.
"...Tch."
He put away Crobat’s Poké Ball, bent down, and picked up an empty bottle near his feet.
"Fine, we’ll clean it up. It’s not a big deal."
The others exchanged glances before silently crouching and beginning to collect the garbage.
[VIP Chat Group]
[Brock]: Raina handled that very well.
[Lt. Surge]: She was even fiercer than she was during our Gym battle! That girl is definitely going places!
[Lance]: Indeed.
[Wallace]: The ocean is not a garbage dump. No matter which world we are in, that is a line that must never be crossed.
[Juan]: Wallace is right. Anyone who pollutes the ocean is unworthy of calling themselves a Trainer.
[Lorelei]: Mr. Juan is here too.
[Juan]: I couldn’t remain silent after seeing people dump waste into the sea.
[Crasher Wake]: Neither could I! The ocean is weeping, my friends! I can practically smell that unbearable stench through the screen!
[Marlon]: You’re here too, Crasher Wake! Are all the Water-type Trainers gathering today?
[Lana]: I’m here as well! I may not be a Gym Leader, but I can feel it too! I started crying when Raina said those things just now!
[Lana]: The ocean may not be able to speak, but the Pokémon living in it can still feel pain.
[Steven]: The real issue is not merely dealing with those few Trainers. Authorities need to thoroughly investigate the illegal dumping itself.
[Bill]: I’m already retrieving the lighthouse’s observational data.
[Steven]: This needs to be investigated properly. If anything similar is happening in our world, it cannot be tolerated.
[Wallace]: Steven, why do you sound so reasonable today?
[Steven]: Because this is not something to joke about.
[Wallace]: How unusual. In that case, I take back all the times I called you shameless.
[Steven]: You said that?
[Wallace]: Many times.
[Steven]: I don’t remember.
[Wallace]: ...
The video continued.
"The poison hasn’t been completely neutralized yet."
Raina put away the empty Antidote bottle and wiped the sweat from her forehead with her arm.
"But you’re no longer in immediate danger. I’ll take you to Bill’s Lighthouse in a little while. He has specialized equipment there and can give you a more thorough examination."
Lapras released a quiet cry and gently rested its chin on Raina’s shoulder.
Raina shrank her neck as it rubbed against her, then began to laugh.
"That tickles~ Your chin is even softer than Eevee’s tail."
Eevee poked half its head out from above Raina’s hair and stared at her with an expression that clearly said, What did you just say?
"Eevee?"
"I’m only telling the truth. Your tail is soft too, but Lapras’s chin is softer."
Eevee leaped down from Raina’s head and landed on Lapras’s.
"Eevee, Eevee, Eevee!"
Lapras blinked.
It seemed to understand that Eevee was complaining, and a low rumble emerged from its throat as though it were laughing.
Eevee became even angrier.
[Regular-Seat Chat Group]
"Eevee is jealous! Help! Hahahahaha!"
"Raina, you’re finished. Eevee won’t warm your hands tonight."
"Eevee: I serve as your hat every day, and now you’re praising someone else’s chin for being softer?!"
"Lapras: I apologize, but I really am that soft."
"The way these three interact is hilarious."
"I’ve realized that Raina always views Lapras through rose-tinted glasses. From covering it with a blanket last time to treating its wounds now, everything Lapras does is adorable in her eyes."
"This must be fate."
[VIP Chat Group]
[Iris]: Eevee is jealous! Hahahahaha! Axew, look at its expression!
[Axew]: Axew!
[Dawn]: Eevee’s tail completely puffed up while it was shouting! Hahahahaha!
[Piplup]: Piplup! Points at the screen.
[May]: Seriously, though, Raina is so kind to Lapras~
[Wallace]: The relationship between Raina and Lapras has been mutual from the very beginning. Raina took the initiative when she covered Lapras with the blanket, while Lapras responded by giving her the Water Stone. Now that Lapras has been injured, Raina has once again chosen to help it. Their connection is far purer than a simple act of capture.
[Cynthia]: Mr. Wallace is absolutely right. This is not a Trainer searching for a Pokémon. It is two living beings gradually reaching out to one another.
The video continued.
While Raina was not paying attention to them, the Trainers attempted to slip away.
However, they had barely taken a few steps when an enormous golden Gyarados blocked their path.
Gyarados released a furious roar.
The Trainers immediately collapsed onto the ground in terror.
"You haven’t apologized yet. Where do you think you’re going?"
Raina’s voice came from behind them, causing their entire bodies to tremble.
They hurriedly dropped to their knees and shouted:
"We’re sorry! We were wrong! We’ll never do it again!"
Cold sweat covered the leader’s forehead, and all traces of his earlier arrogance had vanished.
"We... We apologized. Can you let us leave now?"
"I never said you could simply walk away."
Raina crossed her arms.
"You polluted the ocean and harmed the Pokémon living in it. You can wait here for Officer Jenny to deal with you."
...
It was not long before Officer Jenny arrived at the scene on her motorcycle.
"We received a report that someone was illegally dumping industrial waste into this area of the ocean."
Officer Jenny removed her helmet and looked over the Trainers, who were cleaning the marine debris under Gyarados’s watchful supervision.
"It seems you’ve been caught in the act."
The leader raised a woven sack filled with empty bottles, his face filled with misery.
"Officer Jenny, we’ve already cleaned everything up! Can this count as turning ourselves in?"
"It demonstrates that you are admitting responsibility."
Officer Jenny expressionlessly took out a pair of handcuffs.
"But it does not make your actions legal."
The Trainers exchanged dejected glances.
In the distance, a figure wearing a white laboratory coat was hurrying along the shoreline.
He held down the collar of his coat with one hand as the wind tried to turn it inside out, while carrying a first-aid kit in the other.
"Raina!"
"Bill!"
Raina stood and waved to him.
Bill removed several medicines from the first-aid kit, crouched beside Lapras, and treated it far more thoroughly.
Once everything had been taken care of, Bill removed his gloves and released a long breath.
He glanced up at the sky before turning toward Raina and forcing a reassuring smile onto his face.
"Raina, you should stay at my lighthouse tonight. Lapras will probably need some time to recover."
"I’ve also used the observation station’s communications equipment to file a report with Officer Jenny. You’re officially registered as a Trainer now, and you handled this situation extremely well."
Raina nodded.
"Okay."
