Pokemon: Skybound

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Machamp spread all four of its arms at once and charged straight toward Tyranitar. What followed made it clear why the situation had suddenly turned against it.

With a light shove of its shoulder, Machamp effortlessly smashed through the rocks blocking its path. Taking a few quick strides, it closed in on Tyranitar.

Judging by its posture, it was clearly aiming to grab hold of Tyranitar and execute a Seismic Toss!

Up to this point, everything seemed perfectly fine. If Seismic Toss landed successfully, it would deal massive damage to Tyranitar!

However, just as Machamp was about to make contact, Tyranitar suddenly spun around. Its thick, powerful tail short but exceptionally sturdy lashed out and swept straight into Machamp's legs!

Caught completely off guard, Machamp felt a sharp pain in its lower body. Its balance was shattered instantly, and it fell flat onto its back.

Oh no!

Seeing this, Brawly's expression changed drastically. A bad feeling surged through his chest.

Thud!

Machamp crashed heavily onto the battlefield.

Seizing the opening without hesitation, Kai shouted decisively,

"Now! Use Hyper Beam!"

At that moment, everyone understood exactly what he intended to do.

Unable to bear watching what came next, several of the female Gym trainers turned their heads away. Some even covered their faces, tears quietly slipping through their fingers.

Following Kai's command, Tyranitar lowered its head slightly. An immense amount of energy gathered in its mouth before erupting at point-blank range, striking Machamp squarely in the chest!

The blinding white beam radiated terrifying heat. Amid a harsh crackling sound, the devastating energy poured relentlessly into Machamp's body.

Under the overwhelming assault, Machamp's body convulsed violently. Its eyes rolled back, and it soon lost consciousness completely.

This time, the referee raised the flag almost instantly.

"Machamp is unable to battle! The winner is Tyranitar! The challenger wins the Gym Battle!"

The moment the referee's announcement ended, Brawly urgently called out to Tyranitar.

"Stop! That's enough!!"

But his words had no effect on Tyranitar whatsoever.

Seeing Tyranitar continuing to vent the remaining energy from Hyper Beam, Brawly panicked and hurriedly looked toward Kai for help.

Fortunately, as soon as Kai waved his hand, Tyranitar immediately closed its mouth, and the attack ceased at once.

Relieved, Brawly rushed forward to check on Machamp. After confirming that it wasn't seriously injured, he recalled it into its Poké Ball.

"I lost…"

Though unwilling to accept it, he still forced a casual expression onto his face, as if the defeat didn't bother him much.

"Your Tyranitar is incredibly strong. Especially the way it targeted Machamp's lower body—that was impressive. And I can tell you must've trained specifically for this Gym challenge beforehand. Your preparation was excellent."

Special training?

Training what, exactly? Lower-body attacks?

Kai shook his head helplessly.

Brawly, you really never change…

Even after losing, you still need to give yourself a way out.

But Kai understood. Brawly had suffered a crushing defeat today. Two challengers had come, four full battles were fought, and every one of his main Pokémon had been defeated without winning a single match. Losing like that in front of all the Gym trainers was a serious blow to his pride.

Without bothering to argue, Kai took out his Poké Ball and recalled Tyranitar.

Since Kai didn't refute him, Brawly naturally assumed his guess was correct.

So he really did study my team beforehand…

That thought made him feel a little better.

Walking up to Kai, Brawly once again held out the badge he had tried to give earlier—only to be refused by Bea.

"This is the Knuckle Badge. Please accept it."

As he spoke, he watched Kai carefully, worried this challenger might refuse it as well.

Thankfully, Kai didn't hesitate and accepted the badge.

He lowered his gaze, examining the Knuckle Badge in his palm.

Just like its name suggested, the badge resembled a boxing glove. It wasn't particularly flashy—mostly blue, forming the body of the glove, with a small orange circle at the bottom like a protruding thumb.

After placing it into his badge case, Kai nodded politely to Brawly and turned to leave the Gym without another word.

In the stands, Misty and Bea stood up at the same time and joined him, the three of them exiting together.

Watching them leave, Brawly let out a long sigh.

Finally… It's over.

What exhausting battles…

Though it was still morning, the two Gym battles had completely drained him—physically and mentally.

Whatever. I'll get my Pokémon treated, then go surfing to relax.

His only regret was never learning the woman's name—or getting her contact information.

What a shame.

Still, Brawly was quick to move on. The disappointment faded just as quickly as it appeared.

"Girls! The weather's great today—let's go surfing!"

Just as he turned to call out to the Gym trainers, he noticed them huddled together, all staring at one girl's phone and chatting excitedly.

Raising an eyebrow, he walked over with a bright smile.

"What are you all looking at?"

The girl holding the phone looked up, excitement written all over her face.

"Brawly, come quick! We figured out who that man really is!"

"What?" Brawly froze. Wasn't he just a regular challenger?

Curious, he hurried closer.

"I thought he looked familiar, so I searched him up," the girl continued. "Turns out he's anything but ordinary!"

Brawly leaned in—and saw a video playing on the screen. Standing on the award podium was the very man who had just defeated him.

The title read:

'Congratulations to Kai for Winning His Second Pokémon League Championship!'

"What?!"

A two-time Pokémon League Champion?!

No wonder Tyranitar had been so terrifying.

And here he was, making excuses about 'special training'…

Brawly felt his face burn red.
