Possessed By The God: God's Choice Series I (omegaverse bl)
Chapter 42: Pull, pull, pull and pushElias’s POV
Reading regression: when you read the same line over and over again.
This is something I do not experience.
I’ve read complex books within days and hours. My brain stores the words in a memory bank and supplies the same words when I need them.
Reading regression.
This has never happened to me before. Why the hell am I struggling to take this simple line in?
"You’re so short" Lucas’s laughter drifts to me and my eyes stray from the line to Noah again. And to my shame, it’s for the hundredth time in less than an hour.
Under the warm afternoon sun, the blonde omega is turning flush with the excitement.
His hair is flying with the wind and if I looked any closer, I’m sure I’ll see his pink tongue lolling out as he tries to beat Lucas at jumping.
The contrast between the man who jumped out the window to escape me and the boy jumping on the grass is unimaginably far.
There are people who associate other people with animals. It’s not insultive. It’s reality.
Noah is a dog, a puppy, if you will.
He’s two months old golden retriever who is breathing outside air for the first time. Why is he laughing about the grass? And what is so special about the green?
I return my gaze to the book again. I calmly read the lines, yet nothing sinks in. My ears are standing, paying attention to every noise my husband is making.
"This one, let’s do this one!" Noah points at the next tree and Lucas jumps to touch it.
"Give it up, Wigglypuff, I’m taller than you" Lucas snicker and I look up again. I’m too distracted to read anything. Noah is trying to touch the flowers on the tree by jumping.
"I am not a Wigglypuff" he grunts and I give up.
Reading has become an impossible task. Even when he’s asleep and I sit on the couch, I still can’t focus. Not even with my watch in my hand.
Noah spots an apple tree, and he finds it so interesting that he asks Lucas to help him get an apple.
No.
He could get himself killed by eating an apple unwashed. I refuse to let my possession get sick while I haven’t gotten my answers.
I put the book down and walk over to them.
The sound of the grass crunching under my feet gets their attention, and when Noah looks back, the light in his eyes dims.
I thrive on seeing life leave people eyes.
But interestingly, with Noah, I want to see the life grow stronger. I want to watch him bloom with life.
Snuffing it out now would feel too...early.
"The dark lord has arrived" I hear Lucas whispering to Noah, and Noah laughs awkwardly at what he said.
Killing Lucas has never been an option.
Now it is.
The alpha winks at me before he saunters away while whistling with his both of his hands in his pocket.
"Are trees a foreign concept for you?" I ask Noah, and he shrugs without looking at me. He is slowly retreating into his shell and becoming the emotionally controlled crafted angel I hate.
Crack, Noah, crack.
"Yeah well, when my dad started to develop Winslow, he had to cut down a good amount of the trees" he responds and I look up at the apple tree.
The apple he wanted has a worm hole. One bite can hurt him.
"Gotteigen is fifty years more advanced than your village and we still have trees" I say and Noah folds his arms over his chest.
"Winslow is not a village" he hisses at me.
"Isn’t that a sign that you father prioritizes appearance over life?" I ask the omega and his arms drop by his side.
"What a way to ruin a good day. Thanks for the walk, Elias. I’ll like to be returned to my cage now" he says.
Fine.
I call Lucas and we return to the car.
None of us say a word as we return to the house. The omega doesn’t crack a smile. Lucas doesn’t make a joke. And I? I want to see him crack.
Once we stop at the gates of my family home, Noah stomps up the stairs and goes to my room. I follow closely behind him just to see what he would do.
The man fascinates me.
He might jump out of the window again, faint like the first day, cry like on our wedding day, or sulk like yesterday.
He’s like an opal and I never get surprised.
I’ve studied everything around me long enough to know how they function. I know everything about everything. I’ve been watching him for days, and I still don’t know him.
The omega barges into my wardrobe, pulls out an expensive new shirt. This one was shipped to me by a fashion brand owner himself.
Noah throws a glare at me and storms into my bathroom to change.
Interesting.
He acts like a teenager who never lived the teenage life.
Within five minutes he returns with a smug look on his face. His clothes have been changed and he’s now barefooted.
"You hate truth" I say loudly as I walk to my bookshelf to return the book.
Yes, I stood here the entire time he was changing. No, I just need to know his moves.
"I hate truth? Well your father hates truth too. That man shot at me for telling the truth too" Noah says and I pause.
This event took place yesterday.
"My father has his reasons for shooting you. His family is his priority"
"My father also has his reasons for cutting down the trees. The citizens are his priority" Noah snaps and I turn.
"Yet here you are, married to and disvirgined by his enemy" I murmur and Noah gasps.
"Screw you" he says through his teeth and heads for the door.
If he still thinks his father cares, how deep did they plant their root of evil in his brain?
"Come back here, Noah" I call.
The fuse of my patience is running thin.
"I’m not running away" he yells back at me.
"You’re walking out on me" I growl and he stops at the door, head down and chest heaving.
"I don’t understand you, Elias. One minute you’re nice to me, and the next minute you’re a devil again" he says.
"Look at my shelf" I order and he looks at the well arranged display of rocks.
"I went to different countries, travelled to different continents, and killed different men to get them all, Noah" I say, taking a step towards him.
He doesn’t notice, he’s entranced by my rocks.
"I make sure they are clean every day. I bring in an archeologist to tell me the state of the rocks and I know when a speck of dust is obstructing its beauty from peeking through...is that being nice?" I ask.
My chest is tight with barely restrained anger.
My possession shouldn’t walk out on me.
I want to tie him up and put him on a shelf too. I want to stuff his mouth with a gag ball. Objectify him and make him thank me for giving him freedom when he should be in hell.
"Is that me being nice, angel?" I ask again and he shakes his head.
"You’re beyond insane, you’re creepy, and you need to be locked in a psychiatric hospital" he spits at me and continues to walk away from me.
"They never walk out on me, Noah" I inform him and he looks at me from over his shoulder.
"Well I can" he announces, opens the door, walks out and slams it shut so hard that some of my rocks shake with the vibration.
My jaw ticks, but I let him walk away. I’ll give him twenty minutes and then I’ll snatch him back.
I’ll snatch him back and teach him how to never walk out on me.
