’I tested it once before. The goodwill level changes depending on the personality.’

The system’s voice soon sounded.

[System: Checking goodwill... DING! Lord of Paradise, Goodwill: 83]

[System: Congratulations, Host. You have temporarily completed Task One!]

[System: Friendly reminder: The goodwill level at the time of submission is what will be counted for the Camp Task. Please continue your efforts.]

Yu Zhizhi stared blankly at Louis’s back, thinking she must have misheard.

’...How much?’

’A goodwill of 83?’

’How could it be so high?!’

The task only required a goodwill of 60. This was way over!

Yu Zhizhi was so lost in thought that she didn’t see Louis stop and nearly bumped into his back. Louis glanced back, a smile in his eyes as he took in her dazed expression. "What are you thinking about, Miss?"

"Nothing..." A sudden wave of guilt washed over Yu Zhizhi. She didn’t dare to look at Louis, simply lowering her head as she came to his side.

Louis stood outside the main hall. In the distance, the sky swirled in a deep, violet vortex. Yu Zhizhi saw two Elk pulling an open-topped carriage, which had stopped at the bottom of the steps.

A Crow arrived next, flying over to them.

Yu Zhizhi instinctively ducked behind Louis.

All the Crows of the Holy Temple were black, so she couldn’t tell if this was the same one as the black-robed attendant who had brought her meal that morning.

After they got into the carriage, Louis, as if reading her mind, explained softly, "It won’t say anything it shouldn’t. Don’t worry."

To the servants of the Holy Temple, it didn’t matter which personality was in control; he was still the Lord of Paradise.

An existence they could never defy.

They weren’t suicidal.

The two Elk galloped across the land, their pace both swift and steady. The passing wind blew back the hood of the young woman’s robe, revealing her pointed ears. A faint, pleasant smile appeared on her face from the refreshing breeze.

Louis gazed at her intently—

’The image of his little bunny surfaced in his mind.’

’The disguise from the Spiritual Technique was flawless, capable of fooling nearly everyone except the Lord of Paradise.’

’Though this form was the complete opposite of his little bunny, to Louis, Zhi Zhi was Zhi Zhi. No matter what she looked like, she was the little female he was so deeply fond of.’

A faint smile touched the young man’s lips, but it quickly faded.

He turned to look outside, his expression turning lonely and desolate.

Louis had never imagined his little bunny would come to Paradise all by herself. He wasn’t confident he could get her out safely.

Besides, he still had things he needed to do...

With Zhi Zhi here now, Louis was terrified she would get caught in the crossfire.

The Elk-drawn carriage arrived at the Purple Gold Nether Hall.

In the middle of a valley, a bizarre and menacing tower hung suspended in mid-air like a black moon.

The steps leading up were shrouded in black mist, making it feel as if one wrong move would send you plunging into a bottomless abyss.

Louis stepped out of the carriage first, then lifted the little female down.

He carefully adjusted her hood. "Stay close to me."

The Purple Gold Nether Hall was a restricted area in Paradise.

All sorts of Fallen Species roamed this place. They had been branded with cursed seals, forcing them to obey the Lord of Paradise.

As Louis walked through the black mist, he felt the little female beside him trembling.

He paused. "My apologies. That was thoughtless of me."

’The little bunny’s spiritual power has only just awakened; she can’t withstand the malevolent aura here.’ Louis looked at Yu Zhizhi. "Let me carry you up, all right?"

Yu Zhizhi’s heart had been trembling ever since she arrived. Louis was her only pillar of support. Hearing his words, she nodded again and again.

A smile bloomed in Louis’s dark eyes. He bent down and swept Yu Zhizhi up in a princess carry.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, resting quietly and obediently against his chest.

In that instant, all the unease in Yu Zhizhi’s heart vanished. It was as if Louis possessed some kind of Magic Power; when she was with him, she wasn’t afraid of anything.

They were so close she could almost hear his heartbeat.

Yu Zhizhi thought about his goodwill level, and a blush of shyness crept into her heart.

’Louis...’

’Does he... actually like me?’

’When did it start?’

Louis had never mentioned it, so Yu Zhizhi had no idea.

’All I knew was that Louis was very good to me. He was gentle, respected all my decisions, and never forced me to do anything. Whether I was in danger or crying in sorrow, Louis was always there.’

At this thought, Yu Zhizhi buried her face in the hollow of his collarbone, her eyes growing slightly moist.

’The Camp Task is related to Louis...’

’It’s as if someone handed me a Firefly Lamp in the dead of night.’

’Letting me see the path at my feet.’

’No longer fumbling my way through the dark.’

’So I won’t suddenly stumble and fall.’

’The feeling was so reassuring, so grounding, yet it also held a flicker of indescribable joy.’

She couldn’t help but call his name in a soft whisper. "Louis..."

"Hm?" Louis’s every step on the stairs was firm and steady. Black mist swirled around them, obscuring the view below.

He heard the little female’s soft voice. "Thank you for always being with me."

Louis’s dark eyes widened slightly. His steps faltered for a second before he continued upward. His gaze fell on the little female’s head. She was hiding her face like a little quail.

Hearing her words, the corners of Louis’s mouth lifted slightly. "Mmm."

’He felt as if he could sense the little female’s deep affection for him in that moment.’

But soon, his deep, dark eyes grew heavy once more.

The valley wind ruffled the hair on his forehead as Louis ascended step by step through the black mist, his posture resolute yet tinged with a hint of loneliness.

Upon reaching the Purple Gold Nether Hall, four guards in black armor at the entrance dropped to one knee in unison.

Louis carried her into the Ghost Hall.

Many vicious criminals were imprisoned here. The cells were filled with beast-like growls, and from the darkness, pairs of savage eyes stared at the speck of pure, untainted Light.

A pure white jasmine flower had suddenly appeared in this filthy, dark hell. She was completely at odds with the atmosphere of the place.

The criminals couldn’t resist moving forward, staring covetously at her delicate form from behind the iron bars of their cells.

And yet, under the gaze of the Lord of Paradise, they couldn’t help but tremble uncontrollably.

Whimpers escaped their throats as they clasped their heads in their hands and fell to their knees one by one.

Though frightened, Yu Zhizhi still peeked over Louis’s shoulder at the imprisoned, terrifying beasts that no longer looked remotely human.

Her intuition told her—

’The hidden contestant I’m looking for doesn’t seem to be in here.’

"Louis."

Yu Zhizhi looked up, her eyelashes brushing against his jaw. She pulled back slightly, her voice faint. "Are there any former contestants here?"

"None."

Contestants in Paradise only have two fates.

One: failure and death.

Two: victory and escape.

The criminals imprisoned here come from all walks of life. The only thing they have in common is that they do not participate in the hunting games as contestants.

"I checked the list of past contestants last night and haven’t found anything suspicious yet. However—"

He was halfway through his sentence when his brow suddenly furrowed. "Miss, I’m very sorry, but I think my time is up. I’ll tell you next time."

The moment he finished speaking, a thin mist billowed around them.
