After the Hunting Season’s 1v1 duels, the victors automatically advance to the final match.
Player 777, ranked first in points, advanced without a shred of doubt.
Player 13 was matched into the same domain as him. A former member of the Turtle Clan and now a female of the Rabbit Clan, she was still alive when the match timer ran out. As a result, the system ruled it a draw.
And so, she logically advanced to the final match as well.
In the entire history of Paradise’s Hunting Seasons, this was the first and only draw.
Player 26 was the Bear Team. He defeated the highly popular Player 14, spitting out a mouthful of blood as he stood tall and unyielding, giant axe in hand.
Player 124 was a female from the Butterfly Clan. Her duel made everyone’s jaw drop.
The contestant drawn against her knelt the moment they entered the domain...
It turned out that person was a shadow guard sent by her family. The number of contestants with the same mission was unknown, but if they encountered the Butterfly Clan female in the finals, they were under orders to surrender unconditionally.
Player 8 was a young boy from the Mantis Clan, and also the youngest contestant in this Hunting Season.
As for the last one, Player 91, he was the contestant most familiar to the audience, having been the champion for several consecutive seasons. This time, to quote his fans, Lord 91 had been slacking off ever since he met the little female from the Turtle Clan.
His points were firmly locked in third place.
He didn’t even seem to have any intention of aiming for second.
The electronic, mechanical voice continued its broadcast: "Domain fusion in progress. Contestants, please remember the sole rule of this final match—"
"There are no rules!"
"The contestants who survive will be the final winners!"
Yu Zhizhi’s rabbit eyes widened slightly. ’The final match... has no rules? No detailed explanation? Does that mean all players are opponents?’
As for surviving—
’If everyone survives, does that mean everyone will be a winner?’
The Void Domain fusion was underway. Yu Zhizhi felt the earth shake and the mountains sway as cracks appeared in the huge broken stones beside her.
Losing her balance, she stumbled into Tang Luo Ke’s arms.
He wrapped an arm around her and, with a light leap, carried her away from the ruins.
The dark sky began to condense into clusters of deep red flames, as if a rain of fire was falling, illuminating the entire heavens.
In the distance, a brilliant river of stars appeared, its lights connecting into silver threads.
At a glance, it looked like a rhombus-shaped diamond, symbolizing the several Void Domains that were beginning to close in, converge, and fuse.
The tremors in the ground gradually subsided.
The several domains had pieced themselves together into one super-massive, boundless domain.
Yu Zhizhi thought of the cave she had hidden in before. She tugged on the corner of Tang Luo Ke’s clothes.
On the broadcast screen, everyone watched as Player 777, wrapped in a black cloak and wearing a terrifying Evil Ghost Mask, actually bent down patiently.
Yu Zhizhi stood on her tiptoes and whispered in his ear, "The scabbard I was holding earlier..."
The White-eyed Young Boy had given it to her for protection.
Yu Zhizhi was happy that he had managed to win his match this time.
’When I see him later, I have to give the scabbard back to him.’
Tang Luo Ke used his spiritual power to scan the area and found their original landing spot. The burrow that the little turtle had desperately squeezed into was long buried under the earth.
"Wait for me here."
Tang Luo Ke’s figure vanished in an instant.
He was so fast he was invisible to the naked eye. Before long, he returned with the damaged scabbard. He weighed it in his hand. "This is an old antique."
The scabbard looked like a piece of scrap metal.
But there was more to it than met the eye.
’It could probably block one of my attacks.’
Tang Luo Ke returned.
Yu Zhizhi took back the scabbard and held it in her arms. She wouldn’t lose it again this time.
He looked down at the strange veins that had appeared beneath the earth. Under his Evil Ghost Mask, the corner of his mouth curved into a slight arc. "Well now, some filthy thing has followed us."
As soon as Tang Luo Ke finished speaking, Yu Zhizhi saw the distant ground crack open, countless fissures appearing in an instant. Something seemed to be moving underground, the loose, bulging soil looking like a centipede slithering beneath the earth.
In just a few seconds, the thing in the ground arrived before them.
Tang Luo Ke stomped on it, splashing mud everywhere.
A blood-red halo appeared beneath his foot, like an ancient sigil, erupting with an irrepressible, blinding light in the darkness of the night.
At almost the same moment, Yu Zhizhi felt her heart pound wildly and her stomach churn. She covered her mouth with both hands, fighting the urge to vomit.
A shrill screech came from underground, like the death throes of a hunted beast.
Gradually, the long mound of earth slowly flattened out.
Yu Zhizhi felt an unprecedented wave of sickness.
Suddenly, a hand rested on top of her head.
Tang Luo Ke patted the little rabbit’s head. "It was a contaminated variant. It released a toxic gas before it died. You’ll be fine in a moment."
Whether it was because of his words or the touch of his hand, Yu Zhizhi felt the sickness in her body begin to subside.
She nodded lightly.
In the domain, not only did the contestants have to be wary of each other, but they also had to face giant Fallen Species and mutated variants that carried sources of contamination everywhere they went.
In the distance, a figure appeared.
Yu Zhizhi’s eyes lit up. "Chen Mu!"
The young boy from the Mantis Clan was named Chen Mu, and he was Player 8.
"You know him?" Tang Luo Ke glanced at the little rabbit beside him.
"We were on the same team. He’s the one who gave me this scabbard."
Tang Luo Ke withdrew his gaze and gave a slight nod.
Seeing this, Yu Zhizhi smiled. She happily ran over and returned the scabbard to the young boy.
"You should stay with us for now," Yu Zhizhi warmly invited.
Bai Tong was somewhat silent.
’He’s Player 777, the contestant ranked first in points in the Hunting Season, wearing an Evil Ghost Mask that hides his true face. Is he really here for the Lord of Paradise?’
Yu Zhizhi nodded lightly.
The White-eyed Young Boy smiled faintly. "Sorry, I have to go find 91. He’s the captain."
He lived in Paradise’s lighthouse.
To him, the Lord of Paradise was the ultimate leader, an existence that could not be challenged.
"Okay," Yu Zhizhi said, not trying to make him stay.
Before the young boy could leave, a slender figure slowly emerged from the mist behind them.
The White-eyed Young Boy vigilantly stepped in front of Yu Zhizhi.
"You... you should go back."
’Lord 91 seems different now. He used to be so nice to Miss Turtle. Is it because he found out Miss Turtle isn’t actually a turtle, but a rabbit? Is that why his attitude toward her changed?’
"Miss Rabbit."
The young man in the dark green uniform suddenly called out to her.
Yu Zhizhi looked back, her expression complicated.
A faint smile appeared on the man’s face. "Why don’t you come to my side?"
He placed a hand over the gauze on his right eye. With a gentle tug, the white bandage was pulled away, revealing the deep, pitch-black eye he had been hiding.
—Heterochromia!
Yu Zhizhi finally realized—he wasn’t Lou!
