Geoffrey slowed his pace, holding back the jostling crowd to escort the Rabbit Clan Lady through the long corridor to the steam-powered airship’s docking platform.

"The Cat Clan? I know quite a few. Is Ms. Zhi Zhi looking to choose some personal servants?"

Now that the Rabbit Clan Lady was back, she would still be living in the Duke Mansion, but this time she would have servants dedicated to attending her.

Many noblewomen prefer to select their own servants, choosing those they find personally agreeable.

Certain clans were particularly favored by the aristocracy.

Geoffrey said with a smile, "Once we’re back in the Imperial City, I can take Ms. Zhi Zhi to pick some out."

They boarded Geoffrey’s private, custom-built steam-powered airship. The journey back was smooth, aside from a few minutes of turbulence that quickly passed.

Swirls of mist enveloped them. After passing through a thick layer of clouds, the vista of Valoran Imperial City gradually unfolded before Yu Zhizhi’s eyes.

This was the first time she had ever overlooked the entire city from such a height...

The city seemed to be wreathed in mist, but as they descended into it, the view opened up. Buildings with a rich, classical air rose in layers. Its colorful streets teemed with tourists, and she could faintly hear the tinkling melody of string and bamboo instruments in the distance.

Geoffrey finally let out a sigh of relief, having brought the Rabbit Clan Lady back safely.

Thankfully, the journey had been uneventful, and they had returned to Valoran Imperial City ahead of schedule. As long as he saw the Rabbit Clan Lady enter the Duke Mansion with his own eyes, his task would be safely concluded.

"Mr. Billy."

Yu Zhizhi was delighted to see a familiar face. She then looked toward Teacher Dai Li, who smiled and gave a slight bow.

The middle-aged man’s voice was gentle. "Ms. Zhi Zhi, this way, please. On the Duke’s orders, the study has been renovated. It’s now more than double its original size."

When the Duke was at the mansion, he spent most of his time in the study.

Initially, when Ms. Zhi Zhi left, the study fell into disuse. The Duke didn’t set foot inside it for a very long time.

Later, as his relationship with Ms. Zhi Zhi mended, he began using it again.

The furnishings inside were never moved. Everything was kept exactly as it was, as if Ms. Zhi Zhi had never left.

Billy was thrilled to finally welcome Ms. Zhi Zhi back. Following the Duke’s instructions before his departure, he had the study renovated and many areas expanded.

The blue Ghost Lotuses in the pond were blooming more beautifully than ever.

Geoffrey had tagged along, curious to see everything.

He rarely visited the Duke Mansion, so this was his first time seeing where the Duke typically worked and relaxed. When he saw the pond full of Ghost Lotuses, his eyes lit up—

’Not white lotuses or Red Lotuses. It has to be these blue ones!’

Yu Zhizhi invited Geoffrey inside.

Teacher Dai Li went to prepare tea and refreshments for them.

All at once, the entrance to the long-quiet study became bustling with activity.

In the distance, a horse-drawn carriage slowly rolled by.

From a good distance away, the occupants saw the Duke’s personal attendant, Mr. Billy, doting on a Rabbit Clan Lady.

The carriage slowly came to a halt.

The carriage curtain was drawn back, and a beautiful female of the Snake Clan stepped out. She wore a pale pink aristocratic gown, her waist-length hair was gently curled, and her pupils were an exceptionally pale shade, giving her a very serene appearance. "Mr. Billy. Teacher Dai Li."

The Snake Clan maiden offered her customary greeting.

The manservant behind her was holding a folder.

"These are my reflections on yesterday’s lesson. Would you please look them over, Mr. Billy?"

Billy accepted the file with a smile. "Miss Yu Xiang, you could have had a servant deliver this. You needn’t have gone to the trouble of coming yourself."

"It’s no trouble. I’m on my way to a flower-picking gathering, so I was just passing by." The Snake Clan maiden lifted the hem of her skirt in a farewell curtsy.

As she was leaving, she noticed the Rabbit Clan female beside Mr. Billy, who offered her a smile.

Yu Zhizhi returned the smile. Watching the young woman board her carriage and depart, she couldn’t help but marvel to herself. ’This is the first "snake" I’ve ever met who didn’t seem hostile.’

Billy replied, "She’s a young lady of the Jinshe Clan. She arrived in the Imperial City not long ago."

Beside them, Dai Li adjusted her silver-rimmed glasses, looking as if she wanted to speak but then thought better of it.

In the end, she said nothing.

Yu Zhizhi nodded. She and Geoffrey went into the study, her mind filled with the thought that she would soon be able to see Little Amon.

On the way over, Mr. Billy had mentioned that Little Amon was undergoing treatment and that he would take her to see him a little later.

She chatted with Geoffrey for a while, and after they set a time to go select some Cat Clan servants, he took his leave.

After he left, Yu Zhizhi went to freshen up.

In the study’s rear courtyard, the steaming bath was even more spacious than before.

Teacher Dai Li brought her a fresh change of clothes, which were soft and comfortable. After Yu Zhizhi finished her bath and changed, Teacher Dai Li combed her hair. "Young Master Yu Meng will be so happy to see you, Ms. Zhi Zhi."

The six Snake Pups born in the mansion were of great importance to the entire Snake Clan.

The other little Snake Pups were all undergoing rigorous training.

Only Young Master Yu Meng, who was in poor health, was unable to participate in the normal training for his talent and spiritual power. Instead, he often had to soak in medicinal baths.

A bathtub sat in the middle of the room, wreathed in steam. A Little White Snake rested limply against the edge of the medicinal bath, listless and weak, as if it had long grown accustomed to its daily soaks in the potent liquid.

A male Hamster Beastman, tasked with caring for him, was trying to feed him dinner with a small spoon.

"Young Master Yu Meng, please, just have a little bite."

The Little White Snake’s long, curly eyelashes were beaded with condensation, and its serpent eyes drooped wearily. "...I don’t want any."

He didn’t want to eat.

’I just throw up whenever I eat.’

He thought about how his brothers were all off training, while he alone was stuck here all day, endlessly soaking in medicinal baths.

’Even though everyone tried to hide it from him...’

The Little White Snake knew he had been different from the other snakes since the day he was born.
