Chapter 512: Chapter 510: Her Heart Ached

Disbelief filled his eyes.

It was as if countless fireworks had just exploded in his mind, beautiful and bright.

’My wife... she kissed me. She kissed me first. Does this mean she’s not indifferent to me?’

His heart couldn’t help but pound at that moment.

Aeron reached out and pulled her into an embrace, returning her kiss. But that wasn’t enough for him. He took the lead, shifting from passive to active.

’I’ll work hard,’ he thought. ’I’ll make it so my wife can never leave me.’

The sash of a nightgown fell to the floor.

Clothing followed, piling on the ground.

The night was still long.

Outside, the moonlight flowed like water, and a gentle breeze drifted in through the open window...

「The next morning, it started to rain outside.」

A cold gust of wind blew in, and Nerida’s eyes fluttered open. Barely awake, she stared blankly at the canopy above the bed.

Now that she was awake, the memories of last night flooded her mind, the scenes replaying themselves, refusing to fade.

Nerida shifted slightly, then raised a hand to cover her eyes and squeezed them shut.

’I’m numb. Did I really do that?’

The first time they met, it was an accident caused by something she ate. But what about last night? She had been completely sober.

Soberly, consciously, she had succumbed to his beauty.

’Damn it.’

’When did I become so shallow?’

She sat up in bed, and as she turned her head, her hand brushed against the man beside her. Perhaps sensing her movement, he shifted closer and wrapped his arms around her.

Her gaze fell upon him. He was lying on his side, his long hair fanned out across the pillow like silk. A few scratch marks marred his firm chest, and she had left a bite mark on his neck.

Her hand trembled. She grabbed her own chin and physically turned her face away. Nerida didn’t dare look at him. In that instant, her hands moved faster than her brain could react. She casually cast a bit of Magic, freezing him in place.

She gently removed the arms holding her and settled them by his side.

Nerida snatched her clothes, got out of bed, and dressed with a wave of her hand. She glanced back at the bed for a split second, then turned and fled, her limbs moving stiffly and out of sync.

For the first time, she was actually a little afraid of this man.

She chose to beat a hasty retreat.

「After she left.」

Still immobilized on the bed, Aeron opened his eyes. He tried to move his hand but found he couldn’t. He tried to speak but found his mouth wouldn’t open.

Aeron: "..."

’That woman, Nerida... she had her way with me, then just up and ran off. And now she’s left me paralyzed on the bed? What is this? This isn’t how I imagined it at all. I thought that after we connected on such a deep level, we would live happily and sweetly ever after.’

’Wife, get back here!’

He screamed silently.

But she couldn’t hear him.

After leaving Aeron, Nerida concealed her presence and sat for a long time atop the tallest tree in The Young Lord’s Manor. But she couldn’t sort out her thoughts.

Nerida sat at the treetop, gazing into the distance.

"Aeron," she murmured his name, letting out a soft sigh.

She clutched her head, unable to stop herself from lamenting, "What a mess." All this time, she had been seduced by his abs, his body, and that face. ’Nerida, don’t be so pathetic. Men will only slow down the speed of your Cultivation.’

But saying it was one thing.

Her mind was already tainted.

After what had happened with Aeron this time, Nerida felt she couldn’t continue down this path of depravity. She had to maintain a certain distance from this Young Lord Aeron. But in truth, the bigger reason was that she didn’t know how to face him.

「For the next few days.」

Nerida was as elusive as a ghost; even Aeron couldn’t catch a glimpse of her. He knew that woman, Nerida, was deliberately avoiding him.

’She’s actually avoiding me.’

「Until that afternoon.」

He appeared before her.

Nerida had just returned from outside, and the moment she stepped into the courtyard, she saw the man sitting there.

She glanced up, paused, and then steeled herself to walk over.

"Haha... what lovely weather we’re having today."

The moment the words left her mouth, she looked up to see the sky thick with dark clouds, not a trace of sun in sight.

’Lovely weather, my ass.’

"Young Lord."

Aeron’s hand hit the stone table with a SLAP. He turned to look at her, his voice very soft as he spoke.

"I wasn’t aware that, in my wife’s heart, I’ve become ’the Young Lord.’ You won’t even say my name anymore."

His voice was very soft.

His gaze bored right into her.

Nerida felt a chill run down her spine.

"I didn’t mean that, I really didn’t."

She quickly called out his name.

"Aeron."

He rose from the stone table and walked toward her until he stood right in front of her.

Nerida took a step back.

Seeing her movement, a hurt look flashed in Aeron’s eyes. ’Am I some kind of monster?’

"Wife, have you been avoiding me these past few days?"

The moment he spoke,

Nerida felt awkward.

"I haven’t been avoiding you. I had business to attend to outside."

He looked into her eyes and asked,

"What business did my wife have outside?"

"Surveying the terrain and ley lines of Silvanis, researching the Array."

This time, she didn’t hide it.

Aeron lowered his head and said nothing.

Of course, he knew what she was doing.

’My wife is dead set on leaving this place,’ he thought.

’It’s alright. I’m not in a hurry.’

’I can wait.’

At this thought, Aeron smiled and abruptly changed the subject. "Wife, I had the servants prepare your favorite dishes. Let’s go eat."

Before Nerida could say anything, Aeron had already reached out and taken her hand.

Nerida looked down, her gaze falling on his hand. A flicker of emotion stirred in the depths of her heart.

And so it went.

Nerida stayed in Silvanis for over half a year.

During those six months, a man had entered her life.

In her time with Aeron, her gaze would unconsciously fall upon him, drawn to him. Even Nerida herself could feel that as the days passed, her feelings for him were different.

Memories of their past faintly surfaced before her eyes.

So when Aeron asked her,

"Nerida, do you really not like me at all?"

Hearing this, Nerida stood frozen, saying nothing.

’Don’t like him?’

’No, that’s not it.’

’If I didn’t like him, I never would have consciously succumbed to him.’

She had thought a lot during this time.

Nerida felt that her world was not a suitable place for him. That was why she was so conflicted when it came to him.

She remained silent, but Aeron thought he understood.

Half a year had passed since they first met. After all this time, he had no choice but to accept the fact that Nerida did not love him.

He had showered her with unrequited affection for so long.

As the proud Young Master, he had his dignity too.

’Forget it.’

’If she wants to go, then let her go.’

When she said those hurtful words, telling him to find someone else, he had already backed down. He realized that not all affection is returned.

"I understand."

Aeron looked at her.

And then he smiled.

"Nerida, I’m not actually a good person. No wonder you don’t want to be my wife. You must have seen through my selfishness, and that’s why you don’t like me."

Before Nerida could respond, he had already turned his back on her. He gazed at the distant sky and said in a low voice, "Nerida, I’ve always known you were studying the Array of Silvanis. And I’ve always known you were looking for a way out. But there’s something you don’t know, something I’ve been hiding from you. I’ve known how to leave this place all along."

"Haven’t you always wanted to leave Silvanis? Then go! I will activate the Array here and send you away."
