Of course, Kent never expected the Blood Empress to show up here, especially right after a battle that had drained his legion and wives.
The last time they met, it wasn’t on good terms, but it wasn’t on bad terms either.
In fact, Kent had no idea what went on in her head, so even if she had a bad impression of him, he had no way of knowing. At least from his perspective, they were neither enemies nor friends.
So, for her to appear here now, it could only mean one thing...
"I take it your brother came to complain to you like last time, and you’ve come for revenge," Kent asked with a smirk. "If that’s the case, then kindly give me a few days to recover before we fight, since I’m spent now."
Of course, it was a lie. With his regeneration abilities, he wasn’t tired at all. If anything, he welcomed more battles to build his endurance.
He just didn’t want to fight her, at least not when he would lose so easily.
The Eye of Chaos was still activated, so he could see through almost anything. Yet right now, not even a needle hole could be seen in this woman. This meant she had no weaknesses, or perhaps she did, but Kent was simply too weak to perceive them.
The second reason, of course, had to do with something Fiannarel and the Blood Warriors had said to him the moment he arrived on the planet.
"Little Brother, be careful around this woman. She is more than she appears to be."
They had all said the same thing, making Kent realize the Blood Empress he knew was far from ordinary.
The Blood Empress looked at Kent for a long moment before she spoke, causing Kent and his wives to widen their eyes.
"So that is how it is, huh? You were him all along," she smirked. "You know, I had my suspicions that somehow you were the Chaos Dragon, Lord Genesis, the Ruthless Bandit, and even that elusive shadow who used to call himself the Faceless Assassin."
She flew forward and landed two meters away from Kent before saying,
"It appears you’ve been busy, Chaos Ascension King."
"HUH? What are you talking about? My name is Kent, and yes, I am a Chaos Dragon, but not whoever you claim I am." Kent chose to feign ignorance.
While he had no problem telling his wives, legion, and some of his allies who he really was, this lady was a mystery, and he didn’t trust her.
Of course, his excuse would have worked if not for one tiny flaw...
The Blood Empress smiled.
"Oh, please, don’t insult my intelligence. Or do you think I wouldn’t recognize your fingerprint in all seven of these? I know your creations, Avalon, so there’s no need to hide anymore."
Kent frowned, locking into an intense stare with the Blood Empress. A few moments later, a sigh escaped his lips, and he asked,
"Who are you, and what do you want?"
"Oh, hey handsome. Why all the hostility? I come in peace, you know."
A smile escaped the Blood Empress’s lips, sending chills down Kent’s spine. He took two steps back, and the Blood Empress took two steps forward.
"You know, I never expected to find you here, Avalon... well, you said you’re Kent now. I thought you and that maniac brother of yours... what was his name again? Ah, Paragon. I thought you two had long perished in that foolish endeavor of yours."
She paused for a brief moment, her smile widening.
"I guess I was wrong. And with the universe being so kind, I’ve finally found you here. Only this time, I can kill you easily... really."
Kent took a few more steps back, but the Blood Empress smiled and advanced toward him. Fiannarel teleported to her brother’s side, and so did Grand Shaman Vorgun and the seven Blood Warriors.
Even the Tower seemed uncertain of the Blood Empress’s intentions, so it raised the cultivation of the seven Blood Warriors from Celestial to Pseudo-Primordial.
"Don’t come any closer, lady," Fiannarel warned, an arrow appearing in her hand. The others also started circulating their energy.
The Blood Empress spared her and the rest a glance before muttering a single word.
"Sleep."
To Kent’s horror, all his subordinates and wives, including his Big Brother, Grand Shaman Vorgun, went limp and passed out.
His eyes widened, but before he could make a move, the Blood Empress appeared before him like a ghost and placed her slender hands on his shoulders.
Kent instantly lost all access to his cores and everything that made him who he was. At once, he felt like a mortal again, back in the body he had on Earth.
He could even feel that his body had become completely ordinary, just as it had been back on Earth when he had no idea there were cultivators who could fly and unleash powerful abilities.
"I really wanted your head, Kent. You were the one person I always wanted to kill, yet not only did you ignore me, you never even considered me a worthy opponent.
"I was humiliated many times, and on top of that, I lost my chance to ascend back then because you took that opportunity from me, just as you’re going to take it from me again this time.
"So tell me, Kent, should I keep you alive knowing that one day you’ll take everything from me, or should I kill you, knowing I’d be doing the universe a favor?
"I mean, you’re the Chaos Dragon. You hid it well back then, but as it happens, old habits die hard, so you had to reincarnate as your true self. If I allow you to grow, you’ll bring calamity upon everyone... Ah, I forgot you also have another brother who is the embodiment of calamity.
"Seriously, Kent, do you always have to surround yourself with troublemakers? First, it was that white-haired bastard whom I’d probably run from if I met him..."
"Then maybe let go of my brother before I have to kill you this time for good, Phanesha."
A cold voice laced with sarcasm came from nowhere, yet it echoed everywhere.
Suddenly, space cracked apart, and a familiar face Kent couldn’t have been happier to see walked out, holding a bunch of grapes and casually munching on a few.
The Blood Empress, whose real name was Phanesha, narrowed her eyes the moment she saw Paragon emerge from the void.
"Paragon, what are you doing here?"
"What does it look like I’m doing, if not saving my brother from your evil claws? You know, I had my suspicions something like this would happen, so I left a fragment of my Primal Soul in this universe, waiting for you to show your face.
"I guess I made the right decision leaving contingencies in places else, who knows what evil you will do to my vulnerable and harmless brother.
"Jeez, Phanesha, how many times do I have to repeat myself? My brother doesn’t like you. He’s more into women who won’t try to kill him every time simply because he’s the second most handsome man after me, of course.
"Just take the hint and move on, or you’ll only end up hurting yourself."
Phanesha’s eyes burned crimson, anger surging behind them as she glared daggers at Paragon.
"Bastard, do you think I am afraid of you? You may be the Paragon, but right now you’re merely a Celestial. Killing you is simple, really."
"Oh, you think so? Just so you know, unlike my dear brother here, I don’t follow the rules, so you can’t cut my connection to the Daos and render me mortal like you did to them. So tell me, Phanesha, are you confident you can kill me before I sever your head?"
