[BLACK CELLS]
[The SEPTA holds water out to CERSEI.]
"Confess."
"My son. Let me speak to-"
[She slaps CERSEI with a spoon.]
"Oh, this is one pleasure after the other" Tyrion grinned with glee. He was the only Lannister happy at the sight.
"Confess. I meant it."
"My face will be the last thing you see before-"
[She slaps her with a spoon again then leaves. CERSEI starts screaming.]
"Good... suffer" Margaery said darkly.
[QYBURN enters the cell after a while and bows.]
"The trial will take place. The High Sparrow will be presenting a substantial case against you."
"The charges?"
"Fornication, treason, incest, the murder of King Robert."
"All lies."
"Of course they are! The world lies but only you speak the truth!" Catelyn hissed.
"She's a self-absorbed woman who sees nothing but herself and thinks about nothing but herself, of course the world is a liar" Lyanna rolled her eyes.
"Of course, Your Grace. My concern is that The Faith does not adhere to the same standards of proof as the crown. And I hope you'll excuse me for saying it, but belief is so often the death of reason."
"What is his angle? Where does this loyalty come from?" Renly narrowed his eyes.
"Cersei gave him the sort of freedom nobody does. He knows if she's disposed, he loses it all" Jon Arryn answered. "It's beneficial to him that Cersei lives."
"Your Grace, Grand Maester Pycelle has summoned your Uncle Kevan back from Casterly Rock to serve as Hand of the King. He now presides over the small council."
"Good, we have a good and able man leading then" Jaime whispered. Uncle Kevan was the right man for the job, his father's right-hand man all his life. So the man knew how to lead.
"Tell him I need to speak to him."
"I think she does not understand that she's no longer in charge and is very much at the bottom of the barrel now" Gendry muttered.
"Cersei's been a noble all her life. People like her never understand" Varys explained.
"I implored him to visit you but he would not."
"What about my son, the king? If you can visit me then surely the king-"
"Your arrest, and Queen Margaery's arrest, the king has not taken well. He remains in his chambers, his servants often find his food in the hall. Left untouched. He wouldn't see anyone."
"You shouldn't ever stop eating. It's not good for you" Myrcella whispered to Tommen.
The boy nodded, leaning against his sister for support.
"I can't stay here."
"There is a way, Your Grace. A way out."
"Confess? To the High Sparrow? I won't. I made him. I rose him up from nothing, I will not kneel before some barefooted commoner and beg his forgiveness."
"The pride of a lion is always its downfall in the end" Varys sighed. He wouldn't lie, he was finding this amusing.
[WINTERFELL; SANSA'S CHAMBER]
[THEON enters SANSA'S room and sets the food down.]
"Why? Why Theon?"
"Not Theon. There is no Theon. Reek."
Theon rolled his eyes.
"Reek. Why did you tell him, Reek?"
"I was helping you. You were trying to escape, there is no escape."
"What happened?" Sansa asked.
Theon swallowed.
"The woman who was trying to help you, Reek exposed her to Ramsay after your future self revealed that she still had supporters in Winterfell" Jon explained.
Theon did not turn to look at them but could feel the heat of their glares. It was not his fault! It was whatever thing that bastard made him into!
"Reek or Theon, a backstabber is always a backstabber," Robb said.
Theon still had not looked at them, focused entirely on the vision.
"Not ever. Theon Greyjoy tried to escape. The master knew. He knows everything. He hunted him, he caught him, he strapped him to a cross, and cut away piece after piece until there was no Theon left."
"Good. If it weren't for you I'd still have a family. If I could do to you what Ramsay did to you right here, right now, I would."
"I deserved everything. I deserve to be Reek. I did terrible things. Turned on Robb. Captured Winterfell. Killed those boys."
"They weren't "those boys", they were Bran and Rickon. They were your brothers, you'd know them since they were born."
"They weren't. They were only-
"Tell her" Arya hissed. Sansa deserved to know that she still had family alive other than Jon.
"Only what?"
"I can't..."
"Tell me!"
"I can't, not unless the master says..."
"Fuck sake" Theon grits his teeth.
"Tell me why Bran and Rickon should be dead while you still breathe the air. Tell me to my face Theon, tell me that they weren't your brothers!"
"They weren't Bran and Rickon! I couldn't find them. It was two farm boys. I killed them and burned them so no one would know."
"Good, now that she knows all she has to do is send word out somehow" Robb muttered.
"With the castles warming with Bolton men? Impossible" Jon muttered.
"Especially after the flaying," Robb said darkly.
[MEEREEN]
"So have you decided yet? Whether I'm worthy of your service?"
"Have you decided yet whether you're going to have me killed?"
"It's probably my safest option."
"I can see why you would think so. It's what your father would have done."
"It's what anyone would do" Oberyn rolled his eyes. "You're the son of the man responsible for the death of her family. Your sister was married to the man who hunted her like an animal. She doesn't know you, who wouldn't want to just kill someone like that?"
"Someone looking out for a way to get into Westeros," Tyrion said simply. "I can tell her enough to let her prepare for when she reintegrates with Westeros."
"And who's guaranteeing that? You? Why would she take your word for it? What reason have you given her? Why would she take your word for it? What reason have you given her?"
"I killed a mutual enemy!"
"Your father? What does that prove? That you hated him? Why didn't you do it before then? Surely such a hate can't be born overnight? Or what if you're lying and your father faked his death so you could slay her?"
"I would never plot something like that with him!"
"Does she know that?" Oberyn scoffed. "You come in from nowhere, speak to your heart's content and when she says something that slightly puts you in danger, you bring up her father so she'd doublethink. Manipulations is what all these are, not honesty."
Tyrion scowled, looking away from the Martell prince and emptying his never-empty chalice of wine. How dare he?
Daenerys though was frowning for other reasons. With Oberyn putting those points out... she could see it, a manipulation, using her father's name in a way to make her act in another manner.
She did not like it.
