Chapter 450: Law abiding citizenChapter 450: Daphne
"Elara?"
No response. I look down. She is out cold.
Well, this is awkward.
I shift her higher, with me still inside her, and walk to a nearby tree. I sit down because the fallen tree is... it is in pieces.
I really should not piss her off.
I hold her close. She is breathing quietly against my neck, sliding her drool onto my open wound. It is healing, but if she had bit down any harder, she would have removed the flesh.
Now that I am not paying attention to her, it is awkward. The obvious moaning I am hearing. And this fog—how much longer will it surround us with its bright light? But at least it is providing cover for our naked bodies.
I look forward and see wolves... humping... like in fur, on fours.
Well, I am not one to kink shame.
Is it still bestiality if both are wolves? In wolf form?
I watch for a moment. The male wolf is on top of the female, his hips moving in a steady rhythm. She is whining softly, her tail curled to the side.
I look away.
I look down at Elara. She is still asleep.
I stroke her hair and place a kiss on it. Her tail swishes, and I snort out a laugh. Wolf? Dog? Same thing, apparently.
I let my tail wrap around hers. She shifts, burrowing closer. I cannot help but smile and close my eyes too.
The fog is thinning. The night is ending. But I am not ready to let go.
I hold her close.
I breathe her in.
I memorize this moment—the weight of her in my arms, the warmth of her skin, the sound of her breathing.I close my eyes and drift to sleep too.

I walk to the Shadowfang pack lands. Due to Moonfall yesterday, my mate is asleep. When she is asleep or not around, I tend to leave. I do not like being around them—my mate’s other... mates.
I try not to question the goddess. But I wonder why she did this to me. I do love my mate... she is my mate... of course I love her. But I cannot help but wonder what would have happened had I had a different one. A simple life.
The sun is shining high. I head into the forest for a run and probably a nap on my secret spot.
I shift and run for hours and find my spot—a cove, a cliff. It is perfect. If I slide further back, I can seek shelter from the rain when I need to. I can sit in the sun. Under the moon.
I jump up, but smell a different scent.
This place is a three-hour run away from the pack lands. Who could it possibly be? I growl, ready to deal with the bastard, and walk in.
The bastard is a she.
There she is in my place—the faint reddish fur, a wolf from Redmoon.
I growl, asking her to leave. She gets up and perks up and trots toward me with no fear. I growl again, but she does not move away. Only walking around me, she flicks her tail underneath my nose.
I get the scent.
The female wolf is in heat.
That must explain it. Unmated female wolves who do not want a partner isolate themselves.
I try to leave, turning on my paws, but she blocks my path and nips at my neck—an invitation. She rubs her head underneath mine.
I still try to leave.
She still nuzzles me. I try not to lose my patience.
I shift to human form and leave the cove, jumping over her. I am about to shift back and go for a run.
When soft hands wrap around my waist. I feel soft breasts against my back. Something that should not happen...I get half hard.
She runs her hands up and down my chest.
I should tell her to stop. I am mated. But technically I am not supposed to react to the touch of another woman. And this place is far, and isolated... no one will know.
"Hands and knees," I say. "Back inside."
I feel her leave, and I follow her in.

Daphne
I cannot believe this. I did not even have to try. He was conflicted for like two seconds.
I jump down from the tree once I hear moans and slapping.
With the System’s help, I guided a random wolf to where I know he is usually around. I was planning to cause a seed of doubt once he gets back smelling like another wolf—one in heat too.
Besides, 404, I thought mated wolves were not supposed to react to other wolves.
The bird lands on my back.
The System really is getting cocky these days.
[Normally, Host. But that wolf’s heat was induced by the System. It is naturally stronger than normal heats.]
I cannot help but smirk.
You can’t blame me, you saw him too. He didn’t even try to resist.
Oh well. Mission success. Extremely successful.
I pick up the pace and run back. The crow flies off my back. Well, unlike others that cheat on their mates, I am going to remain faithful and head back to my mate.
The forest blurs past me. The sun is warm on my skin. My heart is light.
I reach the edge of Redmoon territory. A couple of people flinch when they see me.
Am I really that scary in panther form?
My paws walk through the gravel. I do not go far when I see the only other being like me—the mini panther is trying to scare some pups. They run away. She feels prideful, her tail perking up.
When she turns, she jumps, trying to run. But I place my paw on her tail and snatch her by the scruff of her neck.
She struggles. I still carry her back home, and she eventually stops struggling, hanging from my mouth instead.
Her small body goes limp, her tail dragging lazily behind her. She lets out a long, dramatic sound—a low whine of pure, theatrical suffering.
She knows I am enjoying this. I can feel it in the way she goes boneless, giving up the fight entirely.
I carry her through the pack grounds. A few wolves glance our way, amused. A few pups point and giggle. Lyra covers her face with her paws.
It’s law for parents to embarrass their children and I’m law abiding citizen.
