Chapter 3571: Medusa (37)

Such a shallow woman. Hera had been angry earlier when she heard Ning Shu call her a tigress, but she realized such a vapid creature wasn’t even worth her concern. She was just a human who thought she could change her fate by clinging to the king of the gods.

What an idiot!

Hera had dealt with countless women like her.

“There is no reward,” Hera stated.

Ning Shu immediately put on a face of impatience. “But I saved the king of the gods!”

Was the king of the gods really that worthless?

Zeus was at a total loss. Without his thunderbolt and the power to intimidate the other deities, these gods were no longer listening to him.

Furthermore, Hera possessed immense authority. At this moment, most of the gods were following her lead.

“Great King, let us return to Mount Olympus,” Hera said to her brother-husband.

Zeus was currently in a real bind. Going back was a trap, but staying was just as bad. Should he run?

Where could he even go? Previously, Hera had conspired with Athena, Apollo, and Poseidon to bind him and take his thunderbolt. Now he was weaponless and facing the exact same situation again.

Motherfucker!

Zeus grabbed Ning Shu. “Fine, I’ll go back, but I’m taking this woman with me.”

Ning Shu’s eyes instantly lit up. “Are you really taking me to Mount Olympus? I heard there are many gods there and lots of divine fruit. Is it true that eating one can make you immortal and keep you young forever?”

Ning Shu acted completely insatiable. “I’m willing to go to Mount Olympus with you!”

Zeus: …

Damned woman!

Hera’s expression soured immediately. She turned to Zeus and said, “Mount Olympus is no place for a human. You cannot bring a mortal there, Great King. Besides, the mountain is dangerous. Are you not simply harming her by taking her there?”

Zeus rubbed his temples. His mind was racing with anxiety. “Sister, this woman killed Poseidon and Athena. You must not underestimate her.”

Ning Shu looked entirely bewildered, acting as if she had no idea why Zeus would say such a thing. “I didn’t! How could I possibly defeat Athena and Poseidon?”

“Oh, I see! This is just your way of taking me to Mount Olympus, isn’t it?” Ning Shu gave Zeus a playful punch to the chest. “I’ll do whatever you say.”

The sheer force of Ning Shu’s ‘playful’ punch nearly caused Zeus’s sternum to cave in. This woman was a total lunatic. Something was definitely wrong with her head.

Hera appeared quite impatient and said flatly, “Great King, let us depart.”

Zeus stood his ground. If he let this woman escape now, she would be even harder to deal with later. She would surely find a way to move against the gods. He had already been her lab rat, and while she was growing stronger, the other gods remained oblivious. It was a very dangerous situation.

His sister Hera had always been intensely jealous. Now she likely thought he had simply taken a liking to this woman and was insisting on bringing her to the mountain for pleasure. Zeus could only scream ‘shit’ in his heart.

His throne was likely forfeit, and on top of that, this woman was a threat to all of them. Yet he had no way to voice his grievances.

Zeus pointed a finger, and a scene of Ning Shu battling Athena and Poseidon appeared in the air.

Ning Shu narrowed her eyes but kept a wide, smiling gaze on Zeus. “Right! I killed Poseidon and Athena. Everything you say is true! Now please, take me to Mount Olympus!”

Zeus: …

Hera had truly had enough of this farce. She didn’t care about a mere human woman, and now that Zeus was without his thunderbolt, he was at his most vulnerable.

The memory of being hung upside down was still fresh in her mind. With Athena and Poseidon gone, two major competitors had been eliminated. It couldn’t be better.

As for how Athena and Poseidon had died, she didn’t care. At this point, Zeus simply needed to step down from the throne.

Hera flew to Zeus and took him by the arm. “Brother, let us return to Mount Olympus.”

Ning Shu looked at the two of them with a face full of grievance.

She was radiating the resentment of a lonely soul.

Zeus tried to pull his arm away from his sister, but Hera held him tight.

Zeus said in a low voice, “Everything I said is true.”

Hera turned to the resentful Ning Shu and said with cold, noble disdain, “Do you want to go to Mount Olympus?”

“Can I?” Ning Shu’s eyes glowed with greed.

“Actually, no. Humans cannot go to Mount Olympus. There are all sorts of monsters there that will swallow you whole, along with various other dangers.” Hera watched Ning Shu closely. “But it isn’t impossible for you to go.”

As soon as she heard that, Ning Shu’s face turned pale. She waved her hands frantically. “I… I’m not going anymore!”

Ning Shu backed away and sprinted into the dense jungle.

The crown on Hera’s head reflected a brilliant luster. The light was so sharp it made Zeus’s eyes sting.

The usually cold and aloof Hera offered Zeus a surprisingly gentle smile. “Brother, let us go back.”

Hera pulled Zeus onto the chariot and addressed the other gods with a majestic air. “Return!”

The host of gods followed behind Hera. Ning Shu tilted her head back, watching the deities depart through the gaps in the trees.

She let out a barely perceptible sigh of relief.

“Hey!” A male voice called out from above, full of masculine energy.

Ning Shu looked up and saw Apollo standing in his chariot. He had wavy hair and a face so refined and handsome it was almost beyond description.

When people described someone as being strikingly handsome with perfectly defined features, they often compared them to the Greek Sun God, Apollo.

What did he want? Now was the time for a shift in power. As Zeus’s son, Apollo had a chance at the throne, though Hera had her own sons as well.

Ning Shu looked at Apollo’s face. “You’re even more handsome than the king of the gods.”

Apollo frowned. What a shallow woman!

Ning Shu asked Apollo expectantly, “Did the king of the gods send you to take me to Mount Olympus? It must be so dangerous there. He must have sent you to protect me, right?”

Apollo: …

Where did this human woman get the nerve to think so highly of herself?

He had felt a bit suspicious and stayed behind to check things out just to be safe. It turned out she was just a vapid woman. She was beautiful, but it was entirely superficial.

She was utterly vulgar.

His father was truly not picky at all when it came to women.

Staying behind had been a mistake. As Apollo prepared to leave, Ning Shu immediately called out to him, “Take me away from here! How am I supposed to live on this deserted island alone? It’s so far away. I can’t exactly swim back!”

Apollo curled his lip. This woman really thought too much of herself. Leaving a helpless woman like her on this island was the best punishment for her.

With no food and surrounded by danger, she would likely die here.

Apollo drove his chariot away, ignoring Ning Shu’s heart-wrenching screams. In a flash, he was gone.

Ning Shu lowered her waving hand. She casually found a moss-covered rock and sat down. She pointed a finger to manifest some fresh water and drank it to soothe her parched throat.

That had been as exhausting as an actual fight.

The firebird poked its head out from Ning Shu’s shirt.

Ning Shu: …
