Aiden quickly cut Selene off before she could make a scene.

His goddess commanded and Aiden nodded without hesitation.

Aiden did feel a little suspicious of what his goddess was about to do, but he also knew that it was not for him to know.

He grabbed Selene and dragged her out, but he noticed the way his goddess was looking at his hand on Selene’s shoulder. And that was not a nice gaze.

’Ah, it looks like poor Selene is going to suffer a lot if she is not careful. Should I warn her-’

But when he looked down, he noticed the glare Selene was giving his goddess and he decided not to do anything about it.

If she was going to show such open hostility to his goddess, then she deserved what was going to happen to her. Aiden would not protect her at all.

Aiden now had one hour at his disposal and he finally decided to let the flailing priestess go. But she immediately decided to head back to the room where her god was.

She almost made it, but then a barrier stopped her from heading inside.

"Why? Why would Lord Rain do this? He still had me-"

"Does it really matter why he made such a choice? As his follower, shouldn’t you be supporting his every decision? Or are you only his follower when it suits you?"

Aiden asked, trying to make Selene lose her calm. And Selene instantly lost it, just as he expected.

"I am his true follower. But this loss...what do you even know? You will only know how I feel once you lose your goddess. I bet that will happen one day and I will laugh at you-"

Aiden immediately shot Selene’s leg with the gun he had bought long ago.

He did not even mean to, but his hands moved on their own as soon as he heard a threat to his goddess.

But he felt no guilt for his actions, only satisfaction.

"That was a warning for you to keep your mouth shut. But as for your concern, don’t worry. As long as my goddess has me, she will never fall. I will do whatever I need to in order to make her the most powerful and revered goddess."

These were not simple words but promises Aiden was making, and the look in his eyes scared Selene.

Suddenly, she realized that this was a level of devotion she would never be able to match in her life.

If someone asked her if she would be able to lay down her life for Lord Rain, she would say yes. But if she was asked to murder someone else, she would hesitate but say no.

However, Aiden’s answer was being reflected in his eyes.

And that terrified her more than any god ever had before.

Aiden told her and the beautiful woman immediately turned back into a snake to snuggle against his neck.

Her eyes looked at the elder man in front of her before the Goddess spoke clearly.

"Your new body will live out its normal lifespan. What you choose to do with it is up to you."

With this, the goddess pressed her face against Aiden and that was her way of telling him that she was done.

Aiden gave a bow to the duo in front of him and he was about to leave when the elder ex-god decided to call out to them.

"Goddess Apophis, I have become a believer of you now as well. And as such, I would like permission to run this temple in your name. Please accept the request to hold a feast in your name tonight. That way, this place will become a proper temple of yours."

The old ex-god bowed as he made this request and Aiden noticed how Selene’s breath hitched beside him.

He wanted to say no, but the decision was up to his goddess. And unlike him, she was benevolent and kind, so she ended up saying yes.

"Very well. A single feast should not hurt anyone."
