Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 163: Ch 162: Interesting Circumstances"My brother, Gladion, was born two years earlier than me, which makes him 23. His birthday is on...."
The tension had drained out of Lady Marsha’s body, and she started talking. But once she did, she kept talking and talking until she physically could not do it anymore.
Kael had been listening with interest at the start, but he quickly started to feel exhausted by how much non-information he was getting. He swore he heard Lady Marsha mention how ’cool’ her brother was more than ten times in an hour.
Sometime during the third hour, the butler decided to take over instead, and that was when Kael got all the important information from him.
Finally, the pair left, and Kael let out a sigh of relief before looking at his notes. His magic pen had been itching to write in the background.
From what Kael gathered, Lady Marsha’s older brother was Gladion Noelle, a 23-year-old young lord who had just taken over their territory. One day, while he was out, he had an encounter with a wise old man who told him that his future was set in stone and that he would soon face hardships.
Gladion did not believe him, but from that night onward, he began to have nightmares. Slowly, he began to change and claimed that he had visions of the future and that this world was headed for destruction.
It was an interesting story, but Kael was more interested in the ’future’ Sir Gladion spoke of. Just how different was it from the one he recalled? It was something Kael would only be able to learn once he met Gladion.
...
The next morning, the three of them headed toward Lady Marsha’s territory. It was not a large one and was located within the confines of Mikailias territory.
Coincidentally, it was also close to the capital, which likely meant that his family had heard about what was happening.
But he doubted that the Duke’s household had time to worry about such small matters, and that meant he would not run into his family anytime soon.
"We are finally here. Butler, go and inform my parents that we are going to host a guest. We need to show Grand Master Kael the best hospitality possible."
Lady Marsha spoke to her butler, but he looked hesitant. This was the first time Kael had seen that expression on his face.
"With all due respect, I believe it would be better if we disguised Grand Master Kael as a worker instead of introducing him as a guest. That way, he would be able to move around more freely and stay out of people’s sight. Also, I don’t think he would feel comfortable walking around as a guest either."
The butler reasoned, causing Lady Marsha to pout and become angry.
"Butler, are you insulting my guest? Do you want to get fired? What’s gotten into you—"
Lady Marsha sounded angry, but it was the butler’s expression that made Kael pause and consider his words.
The butler was looking at him with a sense of familiarity, and his eyes were trying to tell him something.
Since Kael knew how to read body language, he was able to pick up on what the butler was not saying and piece the unspoken situation together.
’I see. So he is worried that people would recognize me if I am introduced as a guest. Most of the older local nobles must also be aware of my identity. He must have suggested such an arrangement for my sake.’
It was nice of the butler to consider Kael’s comfort like this...or maybe he was doing it for the sake of his lady’s peace of mind.
Whatever the case was, it was something Kael could get behind.
"I agree with the butler as well. I also think it would be a good idea for me to disguise myself as a servant and sneak inside. That will allow me much more freedom to ask around among the servants."
Kael pointed out, and Lady Marsha looked like she had swallowed a lemon. Her face was red and pale at the same time, and her hands were shaking.
"How can I allow that? I am the one who asked for your help, so it is my duty to help you."
She tried to reason, but her voice grew dimmer and dimmer by the second until she ultimately gave in.
The butler sighed and extended his hand toward his lady to help her down.
"My lady, I will escort you inside first, and then I will make arrangements for Grand Master Kael to have his own quarters. Please don’t worry! Everything will be alright in the end."
The butler told Lady Marsha, and she nodded, still looking worried.
"Alright! I will choose to believe you. Grand Master Kael, I will leave everything up to you here. Please let me know if you need anything else."
She told him before disappearing back inside the mansion.
The butler kept quiet when he came back, and Kael allowed him to have his time. Finally, he spoke up after a full minute of silence.
"Grand Master Kael, I apologize for putting you in this situation by suggesting that you enter as a servant. But I assure you that I will make sure you are not disrespected in any way. Your safety is our highest priority right now."
The butler sounded determined when he said those words.
Even if they were hollow words meant to make him feel better, they sounded sincere enough for Kael to accept.
"I will leave my designation up to you, Butler. Just place me in a position where I can interact with the young lord frequently. But please, beware of his temper. I won’t be able to help you if he gets angry at you."
The butler warned him, and Kael nodded.
Honestly, he had not forgotten that Lady Marsha had first asked him to help her people before asking him to help her brother.
Even if it had been a slip of the tongue, there had to be some truth to it. Her brother must be a danger to the people as well as to himself.
And now, it was time for Kael to see that man for himself.
