Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 196: Ch 195: No more Drinking

Kael felt his head splitting with a headache when he woke up. He immediately felt awful, and his body protested against him waking up.

’Darn it! What the hell happened? Things were going so well, and then...did I eat something that didn’t agree with me?’

As far as Kael knew, he had no allergies. He could eat pretty much whatever he could get his hands on. As a poor medical student, he had tested his endurance by eating all kinds of questionable food many times.

But if it was not food, then what could it be?

"You are finally awake? That’s good. You can get up after resting for a little while longer."

Emma was sitting by Kael’s side when he woke up, and she looked relieved to see him opening his eyes.

"What happened to me?"

Kael decided to ask, causing Emma to look at him with an expression filled with pity.

"I have some...unfortunate news for you. You collapsed as soon as we took care of the rebellion, and according to the doctor, the reason was alcohol. He said that you are severely allergic to it. So it would be best if you never touched a drop of it again."

Kael looked at Emma’s serious face with a detached expression.

He could not bring himself to believe that this was truly happening, and an almost helpless laugh left his lips.

’Out of all the things I could be allergic to, why did it have to be alcohol? I was looking forward to being a legal adult and having a strong drink after a hard day. Why did this world have to take that away from me?’

Kael suddenly looked like he had lost all the strength in his body, and Emma looked shocked to see him like this.

Her eyes looked Kael up and down, and she even bit her lip to show how agitated she was by this situation.

But Kael could not simply accept this diagnosis. He needed to make sure his allergy was real and not a misdiagnosis.

So he turned toward his elder sister and made a pleading face.

"Sister-"

"Don’t talk. Whatever you are about to tell me, I don’t want to hear it. I will not help you do anything stupid."

Emma immediately sensed that she was falling into a trap and refused to help Kael. But he was not going to back down.

He was going to make Emma help him one way or another.

"Elder Sister, please help me out. I just want to make sure the doctor wasn’t wrong and that I’m really allergic to alcohol. I’ll take only a small sip. Please."

Kael had never begged in his life as a noble before, but as a graduate student? That was a different matter.

He had become so good at begging that he could have made a career out of it. Thankfully, things had never gotten that desperate for him.

But those skills carried over to this world as well. He could see his sister hesitating, wondering if she should follow his request or not.

In the end, Kael won Emma over, and she sighed before bringing out a mildly alcoholic drink.

"Fine! We can test your allergy with this. There’s hardly any alcohol in it, and I have medicine on hand if anything goes wrong. But remember, take only a small sip and nothing more."

Emma reminded Kael as she handed a small glass to him.

Kael took a sniff of the drink, and he immediately felt his throat begin to close up. It drained away any desire he had to take a sip from the glass.

’Darn it! Now I’m sure I’m having an allergic reaction. But maybe it’s only the smell. Taking a small sip should be fine-’

That was a mistake. Kael’s head hurt even worse, and it suddenly became hard to breathe. His throat was closing up, and Emma reacted immediately.

She grabbed the pills and shoved them down his throat until Kael had no choice but to swallow them. The relief was immediate.

His throat gradually opened up again, and more air began to fill his lungs.

Kael still felt lightheaded, but at least he was no longer on the verge of dying.

"Well, it looks like we managed to confirm your allergy. From now on, never touch alcohol if you value your life. It does not agree with you."

Emma reminded Kael, and he wanted to rage against this tragedy.

’Why did this world have to take away my only source of comfort? What will I do now on the days when I feel frustrated? Ugh, I already feel like I want to get drunk.’

Unfortunately, there was no way to overcome this situation, and Kael ended up sleeping his headache off.

...

It took two days for the doctor to discharge Kael.

Usually, he should not have been kept there for even this long, but everyone was convinced that he needed rest and had practically glued him to the medical wing.

After two days, Kael decided to stretch his arms and look at the calendar. He had been marking the days ever since he had learned how long he needed to stay here. And his time would finally be up tomorrow.

He could feel that his body had fully mended itself, and his mana no longer leaked out of his body. It was finally time for him to return.

During dinner, he intended to tell his family that he was leaving, but he never got the chance. And it was all because his brother decided to make his "big announcement" just as Kael opened his mouth.

"Adrian, I-"

"Everyone, I have some news to share with you all. My fiancée and her younger sister will be visiting our castle tomorrow, so I need you to be on your best behavior. And that means you as well, Nathan. Do not try to challenge them to a fight."

Adrian’s words made people start murmuring. No one looked happy about this news, not even Emma.

And it took Kael a few seconds to remember why. But once he did, even he flinched.
