Kana had never felt a rage like this before in her life. She even knew that she was angry at the wrong person. After all, Kael had nothing to do with the attack on the elf village, and he was just a bystander.

But when she recalled the look on the Saintess’ face and the Hero’s tone, it made her feel as if Kael was the reason behind everything that happened.

Kana’s blank eyes looked at her caretaker before emotion filled them. She tried her hardest not to cry as her nanny looked for her other charge, only to find that she was nowhere to be seen.

Kana reassured her grieving nanny, and the nanny looked startled but soon pulled herself together and nodded.

"Y-You are right! There is a lot we need to do for Lady Selene. Please, tell me what you need me to do."

The nanny looked determined, which was good. Kana could really use her help for now.

"Nanny, we will soon receive a letter from the temple asking if they can visit us. Please decline that letter on our behalf and tell them that we are grieving Selene’s death. Buy as much time as you can and...please announce the elves’ gathering. It is time we act for our species’ survival."

Kana had a hard time saying all this, and she watched as her nanny’s eyes widened in shock.

"My lady, this is..."

Adrian shook his head to show that he had no news.

"I did not get a reply."

His words were disappointing, but Kael did not seem to think so. In fact, he could not help but feel like this was an opportunity he needed to seize.

"I see. Then, we should take advantage of this occasion and join their mourning. They won’t welcome the temple, but surely an ex-fiancé whose engagement ended without either party talking things through should be fine?"
