Chapter 95 – The Protagonist Saves the Day

Lee's senses were running haywire as he retrieved the broken Dark Saber. The reason for that was that Dracula was STRONG.

Every fiber of Lee's being was screaming at him that the fancy looking guy floating in the air there was ridiculous enough to toy around with Lee at full strength and not be bothered at all.

Thankfully, Dracula looked more amused than anything else and let him.

'Note to self: NEVER go on a trip with Hajin again unless Suho is around.'

This would be the second time now that Lee had run into someone who was specifically designed to hard counter his anti-magic physique.

The co-author either really wanted him dead or really wanted to balance him out. Maybe both.

Which, of course, meant the first thing Lee was doing after this mess was cleared was picking up proper weapons. Because FUCK that noise.

Yun Seung-Ah stared at Dracula, clearly on high alert. "...It's Dracula. A Dungeon emerging in an instant with Dracula as a boss. Just what is my luck...?"

Hajin let out a long suffering sigh and held his musket in one hand while pulling out a pistol in the other. "...Anyone got a plan?"

Lee took a look around.

It was a closed off space. From the rippling barrier outside, the Dungeon had overlapped reality and separated them all.

That was a good and bad thing.

Good, because it meant no one else would be dealing with this crazy monster.

Bad, because it meant no reinforcements.

Dracula slowly floated down and landed on the floor. With a fanged grin, he held out his hands and said, "Why so afraid? Perhaps this Count merely wished to have a discussion?"

Lee hooked the Dark Saber back on his belt, making a mental note to fix it later. Then he picked up the pure white mana saber, sending it scorching to life again with mana. "A talk, huh?" He looked at Dracula and said, "Well, go ahead and chat then."

Dracula smiled and said, "This world... it seems quite rich in energy. I do believe a wonderful synergy could be achieved." He let out a fanged grin and said, "How about it? Would you like to be the first of my apostles?"

Silence.

Lee slowly turned to look at Hajin.

Hajin flinched and said, "Don't look at me! I don't know anything about this!"

Yun Seung-Ah clenched her hands tight around her sword, staring at Dracula. Then she said, "I don't know why you two kids are here... but I'll open a way. Run and get help."

"Yeah. About that..." Lee took a look around the surroundings and confirmed it. "We are literally in this guy's domain. It's either we beat him or he lets us out."

Dracula looked impressed and said, "Hoh? So you can see that... quite the perception you have there. But yes." He grinned and looked at Yun Seung-Ah. "I am the Lord of this Realm. Unless I will it... you cannot leave."

Yun Seung-Ah's eyes narrowed. She reached up to adjust her glasses and said, "We'll see about that." After that, she teleported behind Dracula, her sword wreathed in lightning as she slashed.

It connected. Flesh seared.

But then Dracula reformed, smiling. "Well then." He hummed. "You are a feisty one. I do need a new bride..."

Yun Seung-Ah grit her teeth and kept attacking.

Since she was keeping Dracula distracted, Lee quickly took Hajin aside and tapped him on the shoulder, using Cube's morse code.

Lee knew Hajin didn't know it, but he also knew that Hajin definitely had the Observation Gift. So he tapped a message out.

'Hajin, we are ABSOLUTELY fucked. But you can reach outside with your gift or whatever, right? Send a message to Suho. He should be free.'

Hajin flinched. But then his eyes sharpened in understanding. "Got it. But-"

Lee kept a hand on Hajin's shoulder and then activated his necklace's invisibility power. And with that, he and Hajin vanished.

Dracula noticed and looked around, amused. "Hm? To hide from my sight... Quite talented."

"HAH!" Yun Seung-Ah swung her sword again, carving lightning on Dracula's flesh.

But he just restored it and smiled. "Come then, Miss. Show me your all. We have all the time in the world."

===

Back in Korea, it was 1 AM, Sunday, April 13th.

Suho was staying with his parents and had been staying up late reviewing various historical swordsmanship videos, trying to refine the essence that he had caught onto with his epiphany.

Not to be a 'swordsman' but to be the 'sword that cuts.'

...Or something.

It was still a bit broad in his head.

But then he got a text.

From Hajin, someone who usually didn't text him.

===

[Yeonha's Husband]

SUHO.

WE'RE IN PARIS AND NEED HELP ASAP.

FIGHTING DRACULA. CAN'T DIE.

WE ARE AT THIS LOCATION.

HELP.

===

Suho blinked. He rubbed his eyes, wondering if he was just seeing things since it was late.

But then he realized he wasn't.

With that, he quickly got out of bed and grabbed his sword, sprinting out of the house.

"Suho?!"

His mom's voice echoed, sleepy and barely awake.

Suho called out. "Emergency! Love you! Back later!"

After that, he booked it towards the Portal station.

But then he stopped, realizing something.

'Wait. If I can cut anything, then...'

He read the coordinates that Hajin sent him.

He thought about the nature of his ability.

And then he swung his blade.

===

Space shattered around him.

Suho arrived in the middle of a grand obsidian throne room.

To his left side, Lee and Hajin were desperately fending off what looked like a never ending horde of skeletons. To the right, a giant flesh golem was slowly forming.

And straight ahead of him, an aristocratic man in an overcoat hugged an exhausted looking Yun Seung-Ah, his mouth inches away from her neck.

Suho didn't think.

Another slash, a decisive action.

And then he was standing behind Dracula, holding Yun Seung-Ah in his hands.

The vice-leader of Creator's Sacred Grace, the beautiful older woman with light brown hair and kind eyes. She looked at Suho's face with surprise, relief, and clear affection. Letting out a laugh, she said, "I knew it. We definitely need to have you in our guild."

Suho laughed too and said, "Well. I guess so, Miss Seung-Ah." He gently set her down on the nearby wall and turned around to look at Dracula. As he did, he lowered his sword and said, "So this is the 'immortal' boss you guys are having trouble with, huh?"

Lee's voice echoed from the distance. "YEAH! HE'S A CHEATER! HE HAS INFINITE REGEN AND CONCEPTUAL IMMORTALITY AT NIGHT! IT'S BULLSHIT!"

Hajin's voice echoed too. "SHUT UP AND HELP ME KILL THESE SKELETONS LEE!"

"YOU SHUT UP! THIS IS YOUR FAULT FOR MEDDLING, HAJIN!"

Suho laughed again.

'Glad to see some things don't change.'

Dracula slowly touched down on the ground, staring at his missing arm. Blood boiled, trying to regenerate it. But it failed. Then he looked at Suho, interested. "...You cut it. The concept of me having an arm at all. Despite how I look, my body believes I am 'whole' in this state."

Suho stepped forward. "Something like that." His eyes were sharp, taking in Dracula's form and flow of mana... or lack thereof. "And you aren't normal."

It wasn't a monster. It wasn't a person either. If anything, it felt a bit like what they described bosses from the Towers were: creatures of alternative rules that defied normal common sense.

Yun Seung-Ah spoke up. "Be careful, Kim Suho. I don't know how you got here, but-"

"It'll be fine, Miss Seung-Ah. Besides." He glanced back at her and winked. "You still owe me a date. Now you owe me two."

"Wha-?!"

Dracula laughed. "Flirting at a time like this? Mm, I cannot condone it, but I respect it."

In the distance, Hajin's voice echoed. "OH COME ON! This is your fault, Lee!"

"You're the guy who did a one-night stand into marriage speedrun!"

"Sh-Shut up!"

"SKELETON INBOUND!"

"GAH!"

Suho smiled, feeling light.

'Ah, so this is it, huh?'

Before, when he was in battle, his blade had felt heavy. The need to prove his past wrong. The need to prove his current life right.

Carrying both with him, he couldn't move as freely as he wanted.

But now...

"Let us begin then." Dracula blurred forward in a crimson streak.

...Suho was unhindered.

A slash of pure blue light.

At the same time, the blue hair dye that he had used since he started school was burned away into his natural black hue. The color of hair he had in this life as 'Suho' and not the blue he had as 'Eren.'

"Wha-!?"

That was all Dracula managed to say.

In the next moment, his body fell apart in halves and then turned into ash.

And when that happened, the spatial field surrounding the castle and turning it into a dungeon shattered, leaving behind the damaged castle from earlier, along with a crowd of fearful guests standing outside.

Suho sheathed his sword, idly picking up the glittering golden ring with a ruby on it from the ashes of Dracula. Then he looked at Yun Seung-Ah and said, "You can take it over from here, right, Miss Seung-Ah?"

"A-Ah. I can, but... Wait, no. First of all-"

Suho winked and tossed her the ring. Then he sprinted over to Hajin and Lee. "Come on guys. Let's get out of here before your wives decide to kill all of us for the mess."

Hajin's face immediately distorted. "OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT."

Lee groaned. "Rachel is NEVER gonna let me live this down."

Suho laughed and grabbed them both before swinging his sword again. "See you later, Miss Seung-Ah. Remember the date~"

And with that, they were gone.

===

Yun Seung-Ah blankly stared at the beautiful ruby ring that Suho had tossed her. One that looked undoubtedly like a wedding band.

Her mind went blank at the implications.

Was it a gift?

A promise?

A joke?

Or...

Yun Seung-Ah felt her face heat up as countless reasons and motivations for such a gift came to mind.

But she set them aside, idly slipping the ring on her left ring finger before turning to face the crowd.

"Hero Seung-Ah!"

"Miss Yun Seung-Ah, please explain!"

"Is it true!? Was there a Dungeon outbreak?!"

Faced with the mass of panicked guests, paparazzi, and Djinn who were subtly trying to sneak away, Seung-Ah let out a deep sigh.

...She was definitely going to double down on that date with Kim Suho. If only to just have an excuse to get away from all of this chaos for a while later...
