Chapter 1727: Chapter 1707:
Many years later, when he’d fallen completely into being a doting girl-dad, he would no longer remember any of this... but that’s a story for another time.
Tang Guo curled his lip and looked disdainfully at Luo Shufan, who was vowing so earnestly. Things like promises, in his eyes, only existed so they could be broken. They were worthless.
But humans seemed to love saying that kind of stuff... who knew whether they were fooling themselves or fooling others.
Luo Qianqian’s idea received He Wenyu’s full, enthusiastic support.
They really had no occasion to wear these clothes, right? Even though the designs were already imitation-ancient style, they were still quite modern in cut.
But just leaving them up on the shelf and ignoring them seemed a bit like letting the elders’ kind intentions go to waste. After all, each of these garments was sewn stitch by stitch, all representing the elders’ care and affection.
So if they had a chance to introduce this style to more people, that wouldn’t be bad, would it?
"So you got Godmom and my mom something to do so they don’t need you to try on clothes anymore?" He Wenyu looked at Luo Qianqian with admiration.
Luo Qianqian gave He Wenyu a sideways glance. "This is after I tried on N-many outfits already, okay?!"
"Anyway, it’s just trying on clothes; it’s not even as bad as you going shopping to buy them. If you were buying while trying them on, just think about it..." He Wenyu consoled her with seasoned experience. "Back then we used to walk an entire day just for one or two pieces, and the number of outfits we tried was countless, okay? Now, no matter what, the clothes are all ours."
"And our figures aren’t going to change, right?" Luo Qianqian couldn’t help rolling her eyes. "Is that the main point? The point is, clearly they’re all my clothes—what’s wrong with trying them on whenever I feel like it..."
"...You make a very good point. How about you go debate it with Godmom?" He Wenyu said, not a single extra expression on her face.
Luo Qianqian was instantly at a loss for words. If it were something you could reason your way out of, would she still be here complaining? But well, at least now the two elders had something to keep them busy, so they wouldn’t keep dragging them off to try on clothes.
"Anyway, how was your day? Did you see ’a house of gold and beauties like jade’? What did you have for lunch?" Luo Qianqian, unable to argue back, quickly changed the subject.
He Wenyu let out a heavy sigh. "Can you imagine it? I didn’t eat a single thing all the way till I left the Book Garden! That Fu Qing didn’t even ask once if I wanted food, or if I was hungry or anything—didn’t even bother with one polite sentence..."
"And then? You two just dragged it out like that until you came back? So what did you eat?" Luo Qianqian stared, dumbfounded. She’d always been fed right on time; they couldn’t wait for her to eat more if anything...
"Just now I boiled twenty dumplings, then cooked a whole pot of noodles without any seasoning." He Wenyu rolled her eyes. "I ate the twenty dumplings."
Luo Qianqian: "..." So that was why when she came back just now, the old man and Fu Qing both had such tragic, bitter faces?
"Actually... you could’ve just boiled a pot of water without adding noodles. If they wanted to eat, they could cook for themselves, right? Why should they wait for you to cook? It’s not like you’re the head chef; nobody gave you that obligation." Luo Qianqian said calmly. Anyway, it wasn’t like they were going to starve to death.
"Then I shouldn’t even have boiled the water." He Wenyu immediately agreed with a nod, huffed loudly, then noticed Qianqian’s eyes were about to cramp from twitching. She promptly nodded in sudden understanding. "But we can’t let Teacher suffer for it... Go see if Teacher has finished his food. If he hasn’t, bring out my secret special mixed-noodle sauce."
"Ah..." Luo Qianqian dragged out the last syllable, sounding a bit reluctant, but still secretly gave He Wenyu a thumbs-up. After all, Forget Worries Tea House was still relying on the old man’s presence, so they couldn’t afford to offend him.
"Fine then, I want some tomorrow morning too."
"Sure."
The two of them went back and forth, and just like that He Wenyu’s little temper was smoothed over. Luo Qianqian carried the small dish out happily, only to be greeted by the old man’s even more aggrieved expression. The noodles left in the bowl were already down to very little...
"Uh... how about I cook you some more?" Luo Qianqian rubbed her nose. The fact that they could even eat those completely tasteless noodles was already really pushing it for them.
The old man slowly nodded. "Don’t make them so soft this time, I can’t even pick them up with chopsticks..."
They were soaked in water. Who told you not to eat them faster...
Still, being able to eat something that bland was already impressive; if it were her, she wouldn’t be able to get it down.
Luo Qianqian cooked another batch of noodles, mixed them with the sauce, and brought a big bowl to the table. "Okay, that’s all you’re getting whether it tastes good or not. People get a little moody when they’re starving, especially us girls. Senior Brother, don’t take it too seriously, okay?" She smiled, clapped her hands, and left.
She was actually quite kind about it; when the sauce wasn’t enough, she even added a pack of hotpot dip...
Back in the room, He Wenyu stared wide-eyed. "You didn’t burn the kitchen down?"
Luo Qianqian had a head full of metaphorical black lines. "Tell me first, exactly what in there is even worth me burning? Other than the firewood, most of it isn’t afraid of flames, right? It’s not like a modern kitchen where once something catches fire, everything burns—appliances, condiments, you name it."
"True... At most you’d just burn one plate of black, unidentifiable ’mystery ingredients’." He Wenyu nodded in agreement.
Luo Qianqian immediately flipped over and went straight into Cultivation, not intending to argue with He Wenyu at all.
Seeing Qianqian’s reaction, He Wenyu gave a smug little smile like her evil plan had succeeded. But as Qianqian started Cultivation, her expression grew very serious.
The day had certainly not been fruitless for her; in fact, you could even say she’d gained a lot. It was just that all that stuff piling up in her head had left her mind a bit muddled.
She didn’t know whether these things were real or fake, and had no way of judging their authenticity. All she could do was sit there in a daze, filled with confusion...
Promotion for Forget Worries Tea House started as soon as Luo Xiying arrived with people and materials. Almost everyone noticed the wooden mannequins at the entrance of Forget Worries Tea House; the dazzlingly colorful, extremely gorgeous clothes on them drew countless eyes. But for now, Forget Worries Tea House still hadn’t opened its doors, and as a Merchant protected by the academy, there was nothing anyone could do.
All they could do was wait anxiously. It wasn’t just the outside folks who knew nothing; even the academy people hadn’t gotten any information. They had no clue what Forget Worries Tea House was planning to do now, and could only wait and see.
"Should we bring in a couple of people to buy first? And once they buy them, they need somewhere to show them off, right?" Even He Wenyu felt their proposal was a bit too rash. Sure, the idea was good, but they had absolutely no outline for how to pull it off...
"Who said we don’t have a place? I already asked the old man, and we definitely have a venue. It’s somewhere everyone can go too. We just need to make a few changes." Luo Qianqian grinned. "As for people? We’ve got plenty, plus we’ve got our little Beauty."
