Rebirth: Beasts Bound

Chapter 99 - 099: CHECK EVERYONE

"You obviously can’t go out while pregnant! Just stay behind," Liora said, and I nodded, but then Elowen’s voice followed.

"Sister, if you are sick, stay behind. I will talk to the Headmistress on your behalf," she said softly, and that... it made my stomach churn. Elowen would never be this nice. Something was going on.

"Guys, don’t worry. I can go out," I said and gently stood up. Even though my legs felt heavy, I still dragged them forward.

"You don’t look good!" Bibi said, and Ryker reached out to hold my waist.

"Elowen is planning something. I can’t just let her get away with it!" I said. Everyone wanted to protest, but seeing how determined I looked, they didn’t say another word and agreed.

I slipped into a slightly loose dress, but my figure still showed beautifully beneath it. I walked downstairs and straight into the arena, where female humans and their beast-men were already gathered.

My lips parted to ask a question, but then a girl beside me nudged her friend softly with her elbow.

"Lysanadra called everyone because of the rumors!" she whispered, and my brows raised upward.

What rumors? How did I not hear about it?

Liora grabbed my hand, and we exchanged confused looks.

"I can’t believe some girls actually got pregnant in the academy. Isn’t that against the rules? Last time it happened, the female was disgraced and dragged around for not controlling her urges or her beast-men," the other girl said, and a sigh escaped from her friend’s lips.

"People get disgraced for that? I thought the Empire didn’t mind and wanted more pups?" she asked, and the other girl scoffed.

"As if. Tsk!"

Hearing their words, my heart started racing painfully.

If I was found out to be pregnant now, it was over!

I bit down on my lips nervously when I sighted Elowen staring directly at me. A smile rested on her face, filled with curiosity.

She’s trying to read my expression!

I rolled my eyes at her, giving her a clear back off look, but she only stared a little longer before her gaze slowly dropped to my stomach.

My breathing hitched. Did she know something What if—

"Don’t worry. She knows nothing," Liora whispered and gently squeezed my hand.

I smiled softly, but Ryker suddenly stepped in and removed Liora’s hand from mine.

"I’ll take it from here," he said, and Liora nodded before walking back toward her eagle beast-man.

Out of everyone here, Elowen should’ve been the one panicking, but why the hell was she smiling like some fool? Perhaps she used the concealing spell on herself, but that was dangerous for the cub. Did she have no heart? A concealment illusion spell could kill a cub or perhaps leave them disabled.

How could she be this cruel? I clicked my tongue. Then again, she was the female lead. Nothing ever went wrong for her.

What was she..

"You all must be wondering why each and every one of you has been gathered here..." Lysanadra trailed off, and I snapped out of my thoughts, gazing at her.

"Rumors have spread around that females are getting pregnant in this academy. We want every single one of you to focus on strength before pregnancy!"

Hearing her words, I felt like she was speaking directly to me.

I looked away when my stomach churned painfully, and I staggered backward, but my beast-men immediately stood behind me, holding me in place.

Sonia seemed to notice, and her gaze lingered on me for a moment before dropping slowly toward my stomach. Her eyes dimmed softly, shock clearly flickering in them.

"Today, royal doctors will check every one of you. Anyone confirmed to be pregnant shall leave the academy, but rest assured, no harm shall come to them!"

The crowd instantly burst into murmurs and loud complaints.

"This shouldn’t be happening! Why are we being treated like sinners? Everyone here fucks their beast-men! Pregnancy is bound to happen, if your beast-man isn’t impotent!" a girl yelled, and many others immediately agreed.

But I didn’t care about any of that. What if my babies were found out? Enemies hiding in the shadows would surely come after me and try to end me.

Getting pregnant in the beast world meant a human female would become weaker and eventually get sick often because she was still human. Beast-man cubs required massive energy, and only SS-rank females could survive pregnancy without becoming weak.

The thought of enemies attacking while I was vulnerable made my chest tighten painfully.

My beast-men wouldn’t always be beside me every second.

This was dangerous...but then Elowen suddenly stepped forward.

"I know this sounds unfair, but the academy clearly did this for us. Cubs can’t be harmed during training, and a mother needs to be protected. Being called out doesn’t necessarily mean disgrace. It simply means you’re fertile," she said softly, and the crowd slowly went silent.

"She’s right," a girl muttered, and immediately the crowd started siding with Elowen, but I knew better than anyone what her words truly meant.

"Of course it’s for the mother and the cub, but it also comes with being called a slut who focused on sex rather than getting stronger. It also means leaving the academy for good... and staying at the exact rank you left with. It’s also meant to get to watch this show unfold and be entertained. But of course, who wouldn’t believe the female lead’s words?"

Elowen stepped forward confidently and stared at Lysanadra.

"Test me first!" she said, I wasn’t shocked, she clearly used a spell.

The doctor checked her twice before finally speaking. "Not pregnant!"

The crowd sighed in relief.

Elowen smirked and looked directly into my eyes, almost as if she expected me to react or speak up, but seeing me stay pale and silent, she clapped her hands together loudly, drawing everyone’s attention again.

"Raven should be tested next. As the heir to the Duke’s throne, she should be an example to others!" she said sweetly.

I expected those words, so my expression didn’t shift, nor did I tremble.

"How dare y—" Bibi snapped angrily, but I stopped her by grabbing her wrist.

"Since Elowen wishes to test me, then I accept," I said calmly compling, standing still as the doctor’s hands traced glowing patterns in the air.

A soft blue light enveloped her midsection, warm at first, then probing deeper. It felt strange, like echoes of magic brushing against hidden parts of her. The doctor frowned slightly, adjusting her spell with a flick of her wrist, and seconds stretched into what felt like minutes.

The headmistress leaned in, her voice low. "Well?"

Doctor Elandra paused, her expression unreadable. She met my eyes for a brief moment before speaking.

"Raven... she is..."
