Chapter 1245: Chapter 1245: Okay
Hearing his own name, Little Bao came running over on his short legs, patter patter, and threw himself into Charles Seymour’s arms. His two little hands pressed on Charles’ knees as he tilted up his tender little face, those big dark watery eyes looking at him full of hope.
Old Mr. Seymour and Old Mrs. Seymour were both looking at him too, and time seemed to suddenly freeze at this moment.
Little Bao was a smart kid. In his black-and-white clear eyes, the bright, dewy light of expectation suddenly got covered over. His little hands moved, gently patting Charles’ leg to soothe him, and his soft, milky child’s voice comforted him: "Daddy, Bao’s not in a hurry, not in a hurry."
Seeing Little Bao so sensible and pitiful, Old Mrs. Seymour felt like her heart was being dug out alive. It hurt her to death.
Charles took a deep breath, lifted Little Bao onto his lap and held him in his arms, saying in a low voice, "Daddy will definitely let Mommy know about Bao as soon as possible, okay?"
"Okay." Little Bao answered crisply, the mist that had just risen in his eyes all blinked away. His little mouth stretched into a grin and he started to laugh, showing his tiny pearl-like baby teeth, ridiculously cute.
Holding his warm, soft son in his arms, Charles didn’t want to let go.
Old Mrs. Seymour frowned and turned her head, silently asking Old Mr. Seymour with her eyes why on earth they couldn’t tell Sophie.
Old Mr. Seymour was completely baffled by Old Mrs. Seymour’s look. How would he know?
That evening Charles had dinner over here, then bathed Little Bao. Father and son turned bath time into a water fight in the bathroom, making Little Bao giggle nonstop.
By the time he was wiped dry, dressed in pajamas, and all clean and fragrant and stuffed into the quilt, he was already so sleepy he was all drowsy and fuzzy.
"Daddy." Little Bao’s soft little hand gripped Charles’ long fingers and refused to let go.
"Be good, go to sleep. Daddy will leave after you fall asleep." Charles coaxed gently, reaching out to lightly brush the wisps of hair on his cheek to the side.
This usually cold man was actually humming a children’s song under his breath, watching the slightly dazed little guy’s tender cheeks rub lightly against the pillow. That delicate little mouth even smacked softly once, and Charles’ gaze was so gentle it was about to drip water.
——
Charles went downstairs, his cold demeanor returning. Seeing Old Mr. Seymour and Old Mrs. Seymour still sitting in the living room, his steps slowed for a moment, but he still walked over and said, "I’ll talk to Sophie about this."
Old Mr. Seymour nodded. "You’ve always known your boundaries."
"Sophie’s parents might be thinking about discussing the dates soon." Charles thought for a moment and said, "I picked out a few dates. You two can decide."
As he spoke, Charles listed all the auspicious days for the second half of the year. Old Mrs. Seymour quickly jotted them down and nodded. "We’ll find someone to take a look at them."
"Mm." Charles nodded.
"Alright, if there’s nothing else, you should head back." Old Mr. Seymour glanced at the absent-minded Charles and said helplessly.
His body was standing here, but his thoughts had long flown off to Sophie.
"Okay." The moment Charles heard that, he agreed so readily that Old Mrs. Wilson couldn’t help but be both amused and exasperated. "You brat."
Once Charles left, Old Mrs. Seymour pondered and decided that tomorrow she’d go find a master to properly calculate the dates. "After I’ve got the dates figured out tomorrow, you call Mason Wilson. When it comes to marriage, the man’s side has to take the initiative. Since when is the woman’s side supposed to be the one to push things?"
