Rebirth: I have Monopoly System

Chapter 210: A Chance Encounter with Zeng Siqi

Actually, Wu Yun had already considered how to promote *Honor of Kings*.

After all, in his previous life, *Honor of Kings*’ explosive popularity had been built on Tencent’s vast user-traffic empire. You could say it was born standing on the shoulders of a giant—it was at the finish line from the very start.

But in this life, Wu Yun had developed *Honor of Kings* early, completely severing its ties with Tencent.

Now, the only thing *Honor of Kings* could leverage was *League of Legends*’ massive player base.

’I actually have a follow-up plan,’ Wu Yun thought. ’I’ll pull Tencent in during Little Red Car’s Series A funding round. They want to promote WeChat Pay, don’t they? I can make a few demands of my own.’

’Alternatively, after Little Red Car’s Series A, *Honor of Kings* will have been out for a while. I could start Galaxy Network’s Series A early and bring Tencent into the fold then.’

Wu Yun was determined to squeeze Tencent for all it was worth.

Wang Chao collected his thoughts and said, "President Wu, we’ve already planned a two-pronged promotional strategy."

"The first is promotion via live streaming. We’ll invite professional *League of Legends* streamers to participate in the closed beta..."

Hearing a promotional plan so similar to the one for *PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds*, Wu Yun couldn’t help but nod. It was the most effective and cost-efficient method of promotion, and a great way to quickly attract *League of Legends* players.

However, if they weren’t careful, it could easily lead to copyright lawsuits.

Everything in *Honor of Kings* was different from *League of Legends*—from character names and game Skills to the background lore, it was all original.

But with *League of Legends* having come first, many people would inevitably dub *Honor of Kings* the "mobile version of LoL." Of course, *League of Legends* itself was just an innovative improvement on its predecessors.

After Wang Chao finished presenting the first promotional strategy, Wu Yun shared his concerns.

Wang Chao smiled and said, "President Wu, you don’t need to worry about that. We’ve already registered every possible trademark and patent for our game! Even if we do get sued, the bigger the controversy, the more famous we’ll become!"

Wu Yun nodded, signaling for Wang Chao to continue.

"President Wu, the second method is through in-game invitations—basically, a referral system. Existing players send a link to their friends, and if their friends successfully register, the original player will receive skin fragments or hero fragments."

"We still need to discuss the exact number of referrals required. Once they hit the target, they get the rewards. To us, it’s just a bunch of data, but to the players, it’s part of the fun..."

As Wu Yun listened to Wang Chao’s enthusiastic explanation of the second promotional method, he felt it sounded strangely familiar. After a moment’s thought, he realized—’Isn’t this the Pinduoduo model?’

’Congratulations! Refer just one more person to get 0.2 skin fragments!’ The thought alone was horrifying.

Of course, Wang Chao wouldn’t dare to string players along the way Pinduoduo did. If he did, the players would riot and tear the game apart sooner or later.

After Wang Chao finished explaining the marketing plan, Wu Yun offered a few of his own thoughts but was generally in approval.

Wu Yun then mentioned his idea of bringing Tencent on board and a few other considerations regarding Little Red Car, though he didn’t specify when the company would be seeking funding.

"Go and refine this promotional plan further. The closed beta will proceed as scheduled. As for Little Red Car, you’ll all be able to follow its progress as it happens."

As the meeting was wrapping up, Wu Yun fulfilled his promise, sending out 20,000 yuan in red envelopes to the company’s group chat in several batches.

After the meeting, Wu Yun stretched. ’Life was so much more relaxing back in school,’ he thought. ’Wouldn’t it be nice to just be a hands-off boss?’

But once you have money, you want more. And when you have more, you start thinking about other things.

Perhaps this was just human nature. Even he couldn’t escape it.

It was now the evening rush hour.

Wu Yun stood by the elevators, declining Wang Chao and the others’ offer to see him off, and squeezed into a crowded car by himself.

As he stepped out of the elevator, Wu Yun heard someone call his name from behind him.

"Wu Yun! Young Master Wu!"

The voice was quite familiar.

Wu Yun turned to look and saw a beautiful, short-haired woman with a cool and aloof air, dressed in a uniform. She wore a blue, short-sleeved, slim-fit blouse with a tight, hip-hugging miniskirt. Her long legs, clad in black stockings, drew the eyes of many men.

It was none other than Zeng Siqi, the woman with whom he’d had two "in-depth exchanges."

"Well, well! Qiqi, I didn’t expect you to still be working here!" Wu Yun said, a little surprised. He marveled at how small Rongcheng felt; even with a population of ten or twenty million, the two of them had still managed to run into each other.

"Of course! I’m not like the Eldest Young Master Wu. I have to support myself and earn money to pay my mortgage!"

Wu Yun gave Zeng Siqi a sly smile. "If you want my help, you just have to say so. It’s not like I wouldn’t give it to you!"

"I wouldn’t dare dream of becoming the girlfriend of the Eldest Young Master Wu. Things are fine the way they are. I’m free, not tied down by a boyfriend, and I can go wherever I want. Eldest Young Master Wu! Since we ran into each other, let me treat you to dinner tonight!"

If Wu Yun’s glasses hadn’t scanned her and confirmed that she hadn’t been with any other men since their "in-depth exchanges," he would have mistaken her words for the declaration of a total player.

Zeng Siqi walked to Wu Yun’s side, her usual cold, aloof demeanor melting away like ice. It was a sight that made many of the men who worked there do a double-take. After all, Zeng Siqi was known as one of the most stunning beauties in the entire office building.

Many men had tried to ask for her WeChat or phone number, only to be coldly rejected by her.

But now, in front of this handsome man, she was like a completely different person. Her expression even seemed to hold a hint of wanting to please him.

"Th-This... Am I seeing things?" a man in glasses asked his colleague, rubbing his eyes in disbelief.

The two of them had just reached the main entrance.

Zeng Siqi’s brow furrowed. She hesitated for a moment before saying, "Young Master Wu, could you do me a favor and act along with me for a minute? One of my pursuers is outside."

Wu Yun saw him too—an ordinary-looking man holding a bouquet of flowers. The only remarkable thing about him was the green Rolex on his wrist.

Wu Yun understood immediately but still shook his head. "I can’t be your boyfriend!"

Seeing the disappointed look on Zeng Siqi’s face, Wu Yun added with a grin, "But I can be your cousin! I’m here to pick you up from work!"

Zeng Siqi’s face instantly lit up. She looped her arm through Wu Yun’s and headed outside.

Some of the onlookers stopped in their tracks, ready to watch the show. They knew that the Rolex guy had been waiting downstairs for Zeng Siqi four days a week recently, all to no avail.

Seeing Zeng Siqi on Wu Yun’s arm, the Rolex man stormed over. "I can’t believe you like this kind of pretty boy!" he said angrily. "Aside from his looks and height, how am I any worse than him?"

Wu Yun replied with that same sly smile, "Bro, why don’t you go to South Korea and get some plastic surgery? My big sis here likes handsome guys!"

"Your big sis!?" The Rolex man’s expression changed instantly. He put on an apologetic smile. "Oh, sorry, man! I’m just too blunt and spoke without thinking!"

"How about this! Let me treat you two to a meal to make it up to you! I just care about her so much that I jumped to conclusions!"

Wu Yun smiled and declined. "No thanks, bro! Maybe some other time! My ride is here."

Wu Yun nodded his head, indicating that his car had arrived.

The man turned his head just in time to see a Rolls-Royce pull up smoothly to the curb. A tall chauffeur in white gloves got out and opened the door for Wu Yun.

It wasn’t until the Rolls-Royce had driven off into the distance that the crowd of onlookers began to buzz with excitement.
