Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 269 - 265: Nirvana Investment Officially EstablishedFor Wu Yun, there was no real distinction between weekdays and weekends.
As the saying online goes: if you’re bold enough, every day is a holiday!
On Saturday morning, Wu Yun had an interview scheduled with a candidate for the general manager position at his investment company. The candidate had been recommended and screened by a headhunter, and the meeting was set to take place in a newly leased office at the National Gold Center.
A while back, Wu Yun had asked Wang Hao to contact their previous real estate agent and lease a 668-square-meter office on one of the middle floors of the National Gold Center.
At the same time, he used an agent to register a new company in Modu called Modu Nirvana Investment Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of 200 million Huaxia Coins.
As for the unused Nirvana Investment entity in Rongcheng, he had decided to dissolve it.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! A knock came from the door.
"Come in!"
Wang Hao pushed the door open and entered. "President Wu, President Tang Hongjiang is here!"
After speaking, Wang Hao ushered Tang Hongjiang inside.
Wu Yun looked at the middle-aged man, who was dressed in a sharp suit with his hair combed immaculately. He suddenly felt a sense of familiarity, as if he had seen him somewhere before.
Although Wu Yun didn’t have a photographic memory, it was still quite a bit better than the average person’s.
"President Wu! I’ve heard so much about you!" Tang Hongjiang said, striding forward to shake Wu Yun’s hand.
He had been reluctant to come when the headhunter first contacted him, having already found a job shortly after returning to the country. However, his interest was piqued when he heard the client was Wu Yun, who had been making major headlines lately.
As a fellow professional in the field, he had carefully studied the investment cases of Little Red Car and Pinduoduo. When he found out Wu Yun had sold his Little Red Car shares as an individual, he practically beat his chest in frustration, lamenting the huge hit Wu Yun must have taken on taxes.
So, when Wu Yun reached out to him, Tang Hongjiang knew Wu Yun was most likely preparing to transfer his personal shares to a corporate entity for tax optimization purposes.
"President Tang! Hello! We meet again!" After a moment of thought, Wu Yun remembered Tang Hongjiang was the middle-aged man he’d seen reading on the plane during his first trip to Modu.
Tang Hongjiang looked at Wu Yun, a little surprised. "President Wu, have we met?"
Wu Yun smiled. "President Tang, you were probably too engrossed in your book. You didn’t notice me sitting next to you on the flight from Rongcheng to Modu back in September."
With Wu Yun’s reminder, a vague memory surfaced for Tang Hongjiang.
Just then, Wang Hao knocked and entered with two bottles of mineral water. He placed them on the desk, then closed the door on his way out.
"My apologies, President Tang. The office was just set up, so we haven’t stocked it with many supplies yet."
Tang Hongjiang quickly said that he didn’t mind at all.
As they shook hands, Wu Yun’s glasses scanned Tang Hongjiang’s information.
Name: Tang Hongjiang
Age: 40
Skills: Master of Management, Master of Business Investment, Master of English, Master of Oratory.
Tang Hongjiang was currently the vice president of an investment firm. Acting on the headhunter’s recommendation, Wu Yun was using a high salary and generous commissions as leverage to try and poach him.
"President Tang, I’ve reviewed your resume, and I’m sure you’re aware of the terms I’ve offered. Do you have any questions for me?" ’The fact that he came for the interview shows he’s very interested in making a move.’
Tang Hongjiang sat up straighter, asking with keen interest, "President Wu, could you tell me what kind of authority I would have if I joined? What would my responsibilities be?"
Wu Yun smiled and handed a file to Tang Hongjiang. "First, if you come on board, President Tang, your first task will be to consolidate the shares of the companies under my name. I want to transfer all of them to the new investment company, to be held as corporate assets."
Tang Hongjiang nodded in understanding but didn’t interrupt.
"The second task, of course, will be to make investments. You’ll be free to invest in any good projects you find, President Tang, as long as they pass the company’s preliminary project review."
"As for project-based commissions, we can negotiate the specifics after the company is formally established. However, I can guarantee that the rate won’t be any lower than the industry average."
Wu Yun hadn’t considered a partnership model. In the future, the investment firm would be holding all his shares in his other companies—an enormous sum of money. A commission model based on the profits of new projects was the most logical approach.
Tang Hongjiang stood up, extended his hand, and said with a smile, "President Wu! I look forward to working with you!"
Shaking Tang Hongjiang’s hand, Wu Yun beamed. "President Tang, I’ll be counting on you to manage my company from now on!"
After a few modest remarks, Tang Hongjiang’s expression turned serious, and he shifted into work mode. "President Wu, could you please tell me about your current shareholdings in these companies?"
Wu Yun twisted the cap off his water bottle and took a sip before stating calmly, "I own 80% of Little Red Car, 72% of Pinduoduo, 90% of Kunpeng Games, 90% of Galaxy Network, 75% of Phoenix Entertainment, 35% of Sichuan’s Jinshan Environmental Technology Co., Ltd, and 80% of Xingyun Media."
Tang Hongjiang let out a slight cough. He hadn’t expected Wu Yun to own so many companies. The last two hadn’t been reported online, which meant Wu Yun’s net worth was far greater than the public estimates.
What Tang Hongjiang didn’t know, however, was that besides Pinduoduo and Little Red Car, the other companies didn’t have particularly high valuations.
Wu Yun suddenly slapped his forehead. "Oh! That’s right! I also recently partnered with Tencent to invest in WeBank. I put in 900 million for a 30% stake."
Seeing Tang Hongjiang’s stunned expression, Wu Yun pointed to the file in his hands. "President Tang, the specific details for all my companies are in that file. You can take it with you and review it."
Wu Yun stood up. "President Tang, the company is still in its fledgling stage, so I’ll need you to put in a lot of work. I already have someone in mind for the head of finance, but I’ll be relying on you to fill all the other positions."
Tang Hongjiang nodded in understanding. "Understood. President Wu, I’ll go back and process my resignation. I can officially start next week."
"Great! That’s all for today, then. I’ll have Wang Hao give you a key to the office."
With that, Wu Yun led Tang Hongjiang out of the office.
Once Tang Hongjiang had taken the key from Wang Hao, Wu Yun said, "This is my bodyguard, Wei Wu. From now on, his and Wang Hao’s employment will need to be officially transferred over to the company."
Tang Hongjiang nodded in greeting to Wei Wu, who stood half a head taller than him. He wasn’t surprised that a man like Wu Yun had a bodyguard.
The four of them headed downstairs together.
In the underground parking garage, Tang Hongjiang saw Wu Yun to his luxury van, then turned and searched the lot for his own car.
Tang Hongjiang stared at the BMW logo on his steering wheel, took a deep breath, and picked up his phone to draft his resignation.
...
Wu Yun got out of the car at Cofco Seaview No.1.
"You two can head to the airport now. By the time you get there, Wang Gang and the others should be deplaning."
Wang Hao quickly agreed, then asked, "President Wu, when should I report back to you about the private jet? I’ve already contacted two aircraft manufacturers and have some information."
Wu Yun waved his hand dismissively. "That’s not urgent. This afternoon, go rent a yacht first. Also, buy a dozen or so sets of waterproof, insulated jackets—make eight of them women’s sizes. I’ll contact you with the final headcount once you’re there."
