Wu Yun opened his eyes to find it was still quite early, so he headed to the hotel gym for a workout on an empty stomach before returning to the room.

He saw Dilireba still fast asleep on the bed, sprawled across more than half of it, a faint, glistening trail of drool at the corner of her mouth.

Wu Yun resisted the urge to snap a photo with his phone. He went into the living room and called Sean on the internal line. "Sean! You can bring breakfast up now! Just for one person is fine for the moment!"

"Right away, Mr. Wu!"

...

Wu Yun had just finished his meal when the landline in the living room rang. Sean had previously told him that for urgent matters, he would call the room’s landline first and only try his cell phone if he couldn’t get through.

"Hello!"

Sean’s voice came over the line. "Mr. Wu, there are five burly men in the lobby saying they’re here to see you. Four of them are foreigners, and they look rather intimidating. They claim to be your bodyguards. I wanted to confirm with you first."

When Wu Yun and Dilireba arrived last night, Wei Wu didn’t get out of the car. Only Wang Hao got out to help Wu Yun check in.

Wu Yun chuckled. "That’s right, they’re my bodyguards. Sean, could you please bring them up?"

"Of course, Mr. Wu!"

A few moments later, the doorbell to the suite rang.

Wu Yun stood, crossed the soft carpet, and pulled open the door. He found Sean wedged between several burly men, looking like he could barely move.

"Boss!"

"Boss!" the other four echoed.

Sean breathed a sigh of relief at the scene.

The men filed in. Sean directed a waiter to clear the breakfast dishes from the table and was about to pull the door shut on his way out.

"Sean, wait!"

Wu Yun then asked in English, "Have you all eaten breakfast?"

When they all confirmed they had, Wu Yun glanced at his watch before turning back to Sean. "You can go ahead and prepare breakfast for the lady now."

After the door closed, Wu Yun sized up the four burly men, who stood ramrod straight and were arranged from tallest to shortest.

"Wei Wu, give me the introductions," Wu Yun said, nodding at Wei Wu.

Wei Wu stepped over to Da Xiong and clapped him on the shoulder. "This is Gorlov. He’s Russian, 28 years old, and his callsign is Da Xiong. He loves hand-to-hand combat and is proficient with all kinds of firearms, but his favorites are machine guns and mortars."

Though he couldn’t understand Wei Wu’s Chinese, Da Xiong knew he was being introduced to Wu Yun.

He snapped to attention and announced loudly, "Boss, I’m Da Xiong! From now on, anyone who wants to hurt you will have to step over my body to do it."

Wu Yun smiled, nodded, and patted Da Xiong’s muscular arm. Speaking in Russian, he said, "Welcome to my security detail!"

Da Xiong’s eyes lit up at the fluent Russian. He wanted to say something but restrained himself, knowing now wasn’t the time.

Wei Wu then moved to the next man. "This is Levanlovsky, 30 years old. Callsign: Caviar. He’s also Russian. Our team’s assault specialist and a master of urban warfare. He’s also got a deadly accurate throw."

Wu Yun again offered a welcome in Russian, much to Caviar’s excitement.

Next, Wei Wu introduced, "This is Richard Tyson, 29, an American. Callsign: Hawkeye. He’s our team’s eyes. He’s a wizard with drones and is also skilled in things like bomb modification."

"Excellent! My country’s drone technology is among the best in the world. You should check it out. If you need anything, just tell my secretary, and he’ll procure it for you," Wu Yun said with a smile, knowing that drones were absolute game-changers on the modern battlefield.

Finally, Wei Wu introduced, "This is Thomas Miller, 30, a German. Callsign: Poison Thorn. He’s our sniper—a crack shot who never misses. Aside from Poison Thorn, whose hand-to-hand combat is a bit lacking, the others are all formidable fighters."

Wu Yun looked Poison Thorn up and down. He was the shortest of the four at around five-foot-nine, with a nondescript face. He had a completely different air about him than the German sniper from *Enemy at the Gates*.

Perfect German flowed from Wu Yun’s lips. "Welcome, Poison Thorn!"

At this, all five men, including Wei Wu, marveled at Wu Yun’s linguistic talent.

Da Xiong couldn’t hold it in any longer and exclaimed, "Boss, you’re a true genius!"

Wu Yun laughed. "You guys are quite impressive yourselves."

Wu Yun wasn’t exaggerating. The scan from his Detection Glasses laid the four men’s Skills bare for him to see.

Each of them possessed one skill at Master Level: Da Xiong was a Master of Light Weapons, Caviar was a Master of Urban Warfare, Hawkeye was a Master of Drones, and Poison Thorn was a Master Sniper.

Many of their other Skills were at the Expert Level.

Wu Yun smiled and said in English, "From now on, you’ll report to Wei Wu. Your compensation packages should have already been explained, so I won’t go over them again. My life is in your hands now."

Da Xiong, with his booming voice, pounded his chest. THUMP! THUMP! "No problem, Boss!"

The others voiced their agreement as well.

...

Dilireba had been startled awake when Wei Wu finished introducing Da Xiong and the big man had boomed his first words.

It sounded like a lot of people were out in the living room. Despite the suite’s excellent soundproofing, the booming voice had woken her just as she was about to wake up naturally.

Dilireba yawned, stretched lazily under the covers, and then slowly got up. She found her underwear and put it on.

After freshening up and getting dressed in the bathroom, Dilireba cautiously opened the bedroom door and peeked into the living room.

Still groggy, she was startled by the sight. Any lingering sleepiness vanished in an instant.

If Wu Yun hadn’t been standing there in the living room, she would have felt the urge to scream.

Wei Wu’s sharp eyes spotted Dilireba by the bedroom door. He was unfazed, merely marveling at how beautiful the woman he had only caught a glimpse of yesterday was.

Noticing the men’s gazes shift to somewhere behind him, Wu Yun turned and followed their line of sight to find Dilireba.

"Dilireba! I ordered you some food. After you’ve eaten, I’ll have Wei Wu and his team drive you to your agency."

Wu Yun didn’t bring anything else up. As for his promise to give Dilireba career resources, they had already covered those topics during their "in-depth exchange" the previous night.

With strangers present, Dilireba didn’t chat with Wu Yun, simply giving a slight nod.

Wu Yun turned back to the four newcomers. "Most of the time, things will be quiet. I’d like you all to learn some Chinese, since I’ll primarily be based in Huaxia for the foreseeable future."

At that, Hawkeye piped up in broken Chinese, "Boss, I have studied a little before!"

"Not bad! That gives me an idea for a fun game—we’ll call it your first assignment. And, of course, there’s a prize. In three months, whichever of you four is the most fluent in Chinese *and* gets the highest score on a written test will win a ten thousand dollar bonus!"

Hawkeye asked, "Boss, what if I’m the most fluent speaker but get the lowest test score?"

The thought of a written test made Hawkeye’s head ache. ’But I’m confident I can come in first for fluency,’ he thought.

"Then you’ll split the prize with the person who gets the highest score."
