Rebirth: I have Monopoly System

Chapter 332 - 321: Villa Acceptance

Seeing that Wu Yun was still busy, Wang Hao closed the door and stood aside, waiting for his call.

A few minutes later, Wu Yun took off his headphones. "What’s up!?"

"President Wu! Wesley, the designer handling your villa renovation, called. He said the work on the Black Eagle Manor villa is complete and he’d like to schedule a time with you for the final inspection!" Wang Hao reported.

’An inspection!?’ If it hadn’t been brought up, Wu Yun would have almost forgotten he even had a villa under renovation.

Wu Yun glanced at his computer screen before saying, "Give Liu Yong a call. Tell him I need to borrow one of his guys for the day after tomorrow. I need a professional to help me with the villa inspection!"

Liu Yong was the project manager for the construction company working on the Jinshan project. Work on the Jinshan project had already begun, and they were currently surveying and laying out the foundation.

It would be a piece of cake for him to find a professional construction supervisor.

Although Wu Yun had never met Liu Yong, Bai Yang had sent Wu Yun a message that included a brief introduction.

When a client made a small request, the construction company would often have to just grit their teeth and do it, even without extra pay. And this wasn’t even considering that Wu Yun had no intention of borrowing a professional without offering some compensation.

"Got it, President Wu! I’ll call Manager Liu Yong right away. So, the day after tomorrow?"

"Have him at the site by ten a.m. the day after tomorrow," Wu Yun replied, then immediately put his headphones back on.

Wu Yun was actually taking the inspection of his Black Eagle Manor villa quite seriously. After all, it was the first one he’d ever bought, and he’d even chosen the design style himself.

Qi Fei had wanted to come as well, but she was stuck on set with her film crew. She’d regretfully asked Wu Yun to just take some videos for her.

The convoy picked up the technician, a man named Sun Xin, at the entrance to Lushan International. He had served as the technical lead on numerous decoration and renovation projects, even acting as project manager for smaller ones. He was a colleague of Liu Yong’s, and since their company happened to have a construction project in Rongcheng, Liu Yong had passed the request on to him.

Sun Xin was around thirty years old. He wasn’t tall, but his skin was dark and weathered—a clear sign of someone who spent his years on construction sites. He carried a large shoulder bag and a hard plastic case.

The moment he stepped into Wu Yun’s Rolls-Royce, Sun Xin spoke with a polite but confident air. "President Wu, hello. I’m Sun Xin. Please rest assured, I will be extremely thorough with my inspection today."

This was the first time Sun Xin had been hired for an inspection. Usually, he was on the other side, having his own work inspected. As a result, he knew all the common pitfalls and traps to look for.

"Engineer Sun, thanks for coming. I appreciate you making the trip out here today," Wu Yun said, giving Wang Hao a meaningful look.

Wang Hao, sitting in the front passenger seat, took the cue immediately. He pulled a thick, bulging envelope from his bag and handed it to Wu Yun.

Wu Yun took the envelope and passed it directly to Sun Xin.

As a seasoned veteran of the industry, Sun Xin knew exactly what was happening the moment Wang Hao reached into his bag.

Sun Xin quickly waved his hands in refusal. "President Wu, there’s no need! Really! It’s my day off, so it was no trouble at all to make the trip."

Wu Yun’s face hardened. "Hey, this is just how it’s done. I may not be in your line of work, but I understand the professional courtesies. If you turn this down, how am I supposed to ask anyone for help in the future?"

Seeing Wu Yun’s insistence, Sun Xin accepted it with a show of token resistance.

His experienced hand felt the thickness, and he instantly knew it contained an auspicious sum—either 9,999 or 12,000.

’Just as you’d expect from someone on the rich list!’ Sun Xin thought with a sigh.

But now that he’d accepted this token of appreciation, he had to give it his all and do right by his client.

While they were still en route, Sun Xin smiled and asked, "President Wu, if you don’t mind my asking, how much did the renovation on this villa cost?"

Wu Yun thought for a moment. "Somewhere between eight and ten million, I think. I only visited the renovation company once, to pay the thirty-percent deposit."

’Damn!’ Sun Xin was inwardly stunned. ’The joys of the wealthy are truly beyond the comprehension of ordinary people!’

He’d been in the decoration and renovation business for years, and that was about the cost of renovating all the public areas in a mid-sized residential community!

"So... what’s the total area of the villa?"

"I think it’s over six hundred square meters, plus a complimentary five-hundred-square-meter private garden," Wu Yun replied, sounding a little unsure. He hadn’t really paid attention to the sales pitch back then; after all, he was only paying a tenth of the sticker price.

As Sun Xin silently calculated the renovation cost per square meter, the convoy entered Black Eagle Manor without a hitch, having been cleared for entry in advance. They pulled to a stop outside Villa 16.

Wesley was standing outside the villa with a smile, flanked by several managers in hard hats.

These men didn’t know the identity of the villa’s owner, so they stared, dumbfounded, at the three luxury cars slowly rolling up.

The convoy parked in an orderly formation on the open ground outside the villa. The first ones out were several brawny foreigners, who quickly exited the two Mercedes SUVs.

"President Wu! Welcome, welcome!" Wesley said with a broad smile, hurrying forward as he saw Wu Yun step out of the car, the door held open for him.

Wu Yun smiled, shook Wesley’s hand, and said, "Engineer Wei, why don’t you start by showing me the features?"

Wesley nodded, led Wu Yun to the two garage doors, and pointed at the cameras on the wall. "This is a system we custom-built, based on the smart parking systems in major cities today. There are four cameras on each doorframe to ensure accurate recognition of the owner’s vehicle information and the driver’s appearance."

Wu Yun waved Wei Wu over. With a technician’s assistance, he quickly registered the Rolls-Royce’s information and scanned Wei Wu’s facial features into the system.

He had Wei Wu test it by driving toward the garage. The parking indicator light on the wall immediately began to flash, and the garage door started to rise. The Rolls-Royce glided smoothly inside.

Afterward, the garage door paused briefly before slowly descending until it was completely closed.

Next, with the technician’s help, Wu Yun registered his fingerprints, voiceprint, and facial data.

Only then did the group finally enter the villa itself.

Wu Yun ran a few tests. "Jarvis! Close the curtains!"

"Jarvis! Turn on the living room lights!"

"Jarvis, turn on the heat! Set it to turn off in an hour!"

Wu Yun was having the time of his life, and the younger members of Wesley’s team looked on with unconcealed envy.

But Wu Yun hadn’t forgotten the main reason they were here. He nodded to Sun Xin, giving him the signal to begin the formal inspection.

Wesley was surprised that Wu Yun had brought his own expert, but he remained confident in the project he had personally overseen. The quality, he was sure, would absolutely meet, if not exceed, all standards.

They watched as Sun Xin took a triangular device from his case. He flipped a switch, and several green laser beams shot out from it.

After placing it in position and leveling it, Sun Xin began his inspection.

The two managers in hard hats behind Wesley swallowed hard as they watched Sun Xin pull a telescopic rod from his bag, with a small ball fixed to its tip.

They watched as Sun Xin slid the small ball back and forth across the wall and floor tiles, listening intently to the resulting sounds.

Soon, Sun Xin had finished checking all the tiling in the living room for any hollow spots.

But he wasn’t finished. Sun Xin then pulled out a tape measure and a spirit level. Aided by the laser level, he began to check the evenness of the floor.

Seeing Sun Xin expertly wield his various tools, meticulously checking even the most minor details, Wu Yun felt completely at ease and started to explore the rest of his new villa.

The bodyguards, of course, followed Wu Yun, using the opportunity to survey the villa’s environment and layout to be prepared for any contingency.

At over six hundred square meters, plus a five-hundred-square-meter garden, it was a truly massive villa. It took Wu Yun a good ten minutes to walk through the entire place.

He was particularly impressed by the lower level. From the back garden, it looked like a ground-floor hall, but it had been converted into a home gym, fully equipped with a power rack, a weight bench, a heavy bag, and more.

There was even a small octagon.

Wu Yun nodded in satisfaction. "Well," he said to his bodyguards, "looks like we have a new place to train."

Lately, Wu Yun had been sparring with his bodyguards during his workouts. He’d discovered that, aside from Poison Thorn, he couldn’t beat any of them.

He could hold his own against Hawkeye in a regulated match, but when it came to Da Xiong and Caviar, the sheer difference in weight meant he was easily dominated.

Still, the four new bodyguards were now completely convinced that Wu Yun could handle himself. They were deeply impressed by his ability to take a hit and by his overall stamina.
