Rebirth: My CEO Husband's Thoughts Are Too Shameless
Chapter 152: Don’t abandon meEveryone had gathered in the living room.
The atmosphere was so serious that one could mistake it for a board meeting deciding everyone’s salaries.
Butler James stood in the middle while the maids, chefs, gardeners, and bodyguards formed a circle around him.
He cleared his throat.
"The situation doesn’t look good."
Everyone nodded solemnly.
"Master was supposed to be on a business trip. Madam also claimed she had important work to do outside. Yet somehow... they returned home together."
The room fell silent.
No one could make sense of it.
Lily, then, raised her hand excitedly.
"Maybe Master missed Madam so much that he flew back early!"
A few maids immediately smiled.
"That’s possible."
"I mean, Madam has been missing him terribly."
"Exactly! She had been acting strange while complaining that Master had forgotten about her."
"’He didn’t even call me today!’"
"’Does work matter more than me?’"
The servants perfectly imitated Clara’s pitiful expressions, making everyone laugh.
Lily clasped her hands dreamily.
"See? It’s romantic."
Before anyone could agree, Silvia folded her arms and snorted.
"Romantic?"
She looked at everyone as if they were hopeless.
"Didn’t any of you notice the deathly silence between them when they came in?"
The smiles instantly disappeared.
Silvia continued, "That wasn’t the atmosphere of lovers reuniting."
She pointed upstairs dramatically.
"That was the look of a sly little cat who had been caught stealing fish."
Everyone blinked.
"And judging from experience..." Silvia sighed.
"The cat is definitely Madam."
Several servants nodded in agreement.
"That sounds more believable."
"Butler James," Silvia suddenly asked, "while we were busy at the bakery, did Madam do anything unusual?"
The old butler froze.
Unusual?
Apart from asking him to buy pepper spray...
Ordering meals mixed with diarrhea medicine...
And smiling suspiciously the entire morning...
"..."
His forehead instantly became covered in sweat.
"Oh! Well madam said she wanted to take car of naughty mice"
He suddenly remembered something.
"Madam gave me this list earlier."
He hurriedly pulled a folded piece of paper from his pocket.
Silvia snatched it before anyone else could.
She unfolded it and began reading.
Her expression remained calm... for exactly three seconds. Then her eyes widened so much everyone wondered if they’d fall out.
"My goodness..."
"What?"
"What is it?"
"Read it!"
Silvia slowly lowered the paper.
"No wonder Master rushed back from his business trip."
Everyone leaned closer.
"What does it say?"
Silvia cleared her throat dramatically.
"’Pepper spray..... diarrhea medicine... sleeping pills... disposable gloves... and air freshener.’"
Silence.
"..."
"..."
"..."
One chef slowly raised his hand.
"Is Madam... planning a murder?"
Another servant shook his head.
"No."
"What then?"
"A very complicated murder."
Butler James immediately defended Clara.
"I’m sure Madam had... reasonable explanations."
Silvia looked at him.
"For disposable gloves?"
"..."
"I... choose to believe in Madam."
Just then—
BANG!
The master bedroom door burst open.
Every servant jumped.
Their heads snapped toward the staircase.
"BUTLER JAMES!"
Clara came sprinting out like her life depended on it.
"Help me! Block your Master!"
She flew down the stairs two steps at a time, her hair messy and one slipper missing.
Everyone stared in complete disbelief.
A second later—
"Clara!"
Dominic stormed out after her with frightening speed.
"Come back here!"
"I’m not letting you escape this time!"
Clara shrieked and ran even faster.
The entire hall fell into absolute silence.
Everyone watched their usually cold, expressionless CEO chasing his wife around the mansion.
Even the bodyguards forgot to blink.
Finally, one gardener scratched his head.
"So..."
Another servant finished his sentence.
"...what exactly did Madam do this time?"
Silvia folded the shopping list, looked at the terrified Butler James, and sighed.
"I don’t know."
She glanced at Dominic, who was still chasing Clara around the sofa.
"But judging from Master’s expression..."
She patted Butler James on the shoulder.
"...we should all start praying for Madam."
"Ahhh! Help me!"
Clara’s panicked scream echoed throughout the mansion as she sprinted around the living room with Dominic hot on her heels.
"Butler James!" she cried dramatically. "Help me! Your master is trying to kill me!"
Without hesitation, she ducked behind the old butler, using him as a human shield.
Butler James nearly burst into tears.
"Madam... I don’t think that’s a very—"
His words died in his throat when Dominic stopped right in front of them.
The cold look in his master’s eyes made the old butler’s soul leave his body.
"Move," Dominic said calmly.
Butler James swallowed hard.
"Master... perhaps we should all calm down and discuss this like civilized people?"
Dominic raised an eyebrow.
"Are you protecting her?"
The old butler immediately shook his head so hard his glasses almost fell off.
"N-No! I was merely... standing here."
Clara grabbed his shoulders tighter.
"Butler James! Don’t abandon me! We’ve known each other longer!"
"But Madam..." he whimpered. "I’d like to live a little longer."
The next second, Butler James stepped aside so quickly that Clara almost lost her balance.
"You traitor!" she gasped.
"I sincerely apologize, Madam."
With her shield gone, Clara let out another shriek.
"AHHH!"
She darted around the sofa.
Dominic followed without hesitation.
Around the coffee table...
Past the grand piano...
Between the couches...
The entire living room instantly turned into a race track.
Every servant stood rooted to the spot, watching in stunned silence.
One maid blinked.
"...Are they really chasing each other?"
A chef nodded.
"They are."
Another servant folded his arms.
"I’ve worked here for twelve years."
"So?"
"I’ve seen Master fire executives."
"And?"
"I’ve never seen him run."
The bodyguards exchanged awkward glances.
"Should... should we stop them?"
"Who exactly are you planning to stop?"
"The boss?"
"..."
"Or Madam?"
"..."
"Let’s just pretend we didn’t see anything."
Clara looked over her shoulder while running.
"Dominic! Violence is not the answer!"
"Oh? Then stop running"
Several servants couldn’t help coughing to hide their laughter. It was funny to see their master running but it was more funny to watch him negotiate with the madam.
Even Butler James had to look away to stop himself from laughing.
Clara suddenly dashed toward the front door.
"I’m leaving this house!"
"You’ll come back."
"No, I won’t!"
"You forgot your phone upstairs."
Clara stopped for half a second.
"..."
Then she spun around again.
"I’ll buy a new one!"
Before Dominic could catch her, she yanked the front door open and bolted into the garden.
Dominic didn’t slow down for even a moment.
"Clara! Get back here!"
"No!"
"You can’t run forever!"
"Watch me!"
The two disappeared out of the mansion, their voices gradually fading into the distance.
The servants remained frozen.
Silence filled the hall.
Finally, one maid slowly turned to Butler James.
"...Should we call security?"
The old butler let out a long, exhausted sigh.
"No."
"Why not?"
He adjusted his glasses with a helpless smile.
"Because security is the one chasing Madam."
The entire staff looked toward the open front door before bursting into laughter.
For the first time in years, their usually elegant mansion had been transformed into the world’s most expensive playground—all thanks to its childish master and his equally mischievous wife.
