Rebirth: My CEO Husband's Thoughts Are Too Shameless
Chapter 85: It progressed overnightClara went silent after accidentally grazing him with her nails.
"Thank goodness... it isn’t bleeding," she sighed to herself, trying not to panic.
She then cautiously looked up at Dominic.
He looked utterly horrified, as though he had narrowly escaped a life-changing injury.
Clara let out an awkward laugh.
"Hehe... I was just checking if you’re... um... sturdy enough for my grip."
The explanation only made Dominic’s expression stiffen even more.
Realizing she wasn’t helping, Clara mentally smacked herself.
Great job, Clara. That definitely made things better.
Trying to distract him from the embarrassing moment, she leaned closer and affectionately kissed him.
Dominic’s eyes fluttered shut as the gentle gesture caught him completely off guard.
For a brief moment, his mind went blank. The endless stream of thoughts Clara had grown so accustomed to hearing suddenly disappeared.
She blinked. Wait... did I actually silence his thoughts?
However, the silence lasted only a second.
[She’s treating me like I’m made of glass... Why does every little thing she does make my heart race?]
Clara bit back a smile. She really had asked for this when she started listening to Dominic’s thoughts.
Before meeting him, she had never imagined herself being this bold.
She had once believed romance existed only in novels and daydreams. Looking back, she finally understood why things had never progressed with Alex. There had never been the trust, comfort, or affection she now shared with Dominic.
With him, everything felt natural. Everything felt right.
A small, satisfied smile spread across her face as she noticed Dominic finally beginning to relax.
The tension in his shoulders gradually melted away.
He leaned back against the headboard, letting out a slow breath. His rigid posture softened, and the anxious look on his face slowly disappeared.
Watching him become comfortable again filled Clara with quiet relief.
At least now... she wasn’t making her poor husband fear for his life anymore.
Clara didn’t stop. Summoning every bit of confidence she had gained from all the romance novels she had secretly devoured, she carefully put what she had learned into practice.
She had no idea that with every passing second, Dominic found it harder and harder to keep his composure.
His usually disciplined thoughts had gone completely silent.
The room echoed with his restrained breaths and quiet groans as his fingers tightened around the bedsheets. His chest rose and fell unevenly, every muscle in his body tense as he fought to maintain the calm expression he was so famous for.
"Clara..." he breathed, his voice rough with emotion.
Seeing the normally unshakable Dominic so flustered made Clara’s heart race. A small smile curved on her lips, but beneath her teasing was genuine affection. All she wanted was to make him feel loved, just as he had always made her feel cherished.
At last, Dominic could no longer hold back.
He drew in a sharp breath before immediately reaching for her.
Before Clara could even react, he pulled her into his arms with surprising urgency and captured her lips in a deep, lingering kiss.
The kiss stole her breath away.
When they finally parted, their foreheads rested together as both of them tried to steady their breathing.
Dominic gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face, his eyes filled with tenderness.
"You really don’t play fair," he murmured with a helpless smile.
Clara laughed softly.
"I learned from the best."
Dominic shook his head, unable to suppress a smile of his own.
"I think," he said, pulling her close once more, "I’ve created a monster."
Clara grinned.
"You only realized that now?" and just like that, Clara finally accomplished what she wanted before they finally went to bed.

The next morning, Clara looked as though every ounce of strength had been drained from her body.
She sat at the dining table with a blank expression, staring at the cup of coffee in front of her.
Very carefully...very, very carefully...she reached for it.
Her hand trembled so much that the teaspoon inside the cup began clinking against the porcelain.
Clink.
Clink.
Clink.
"..."
The servants standing nearby silently exchanged glances.
One maid leaned toward another and whispered, "Madam’s hand is shaking."
"I can see that."
"Is she... alright?"
"I don’t think so."
Another servant looked at Clara with concern.
"Just yesterday she looked perfectly fine. Didn’t she run across the living hall and hug the elder madam?"
"She did."
"And now she looks like she’s fighting for her life just to lift a cup of coffee."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"It must be a terrible illness."
"It progressed overnight."
"No ordinary fever makes your arms shake like that."
The group fell silent. Then suddenly one of the younger maids gasped.
"Do you think Madam secretly has some rare disease?"
The older butler immediately smacked the back of her head.
"Stop reading those web novels."
"But look at her!" Everyone instinctively looked back toward Clara.
She finally managed to lift the cup... halfway up.
Then her arm gave another dramatic tremble.
"Oh no... I don’t think she’s going to make it. Someone help Madam!"
Before anyone could move, Clara stubbornly gritted her teeth.
"I... can... do... this..."
The staff instantly straightened the backs.
Why did drinking coffee suddenly look like an Olympic event?
With one final effort, Clara successfully brought the cup to her lips and took one victorious sip.
"..."
Then quietly placed it back on the table.
"Haa..." she sighed in satisfaction. "I survived."
The entire dining room fell into silence. The head maid blinked.
"...Madam just celebrated drinking coffee."
Another maid wiped imaginary tears from her eyes.
"She’s so brave."
"Indeed."
Bulter James folded his arms solemnly. "Our Madam has incredible perseverance."
A footman whispered, "Should we prepare the wheelchair?"
The butler slowly turned toward him.
"...She’s drinking coffee."
"Right."
"But her hand was shaking," the man said as a matter of fact.
"So was yours the first time you held a tray."
The young footman lowered his head.
"Fair point."
While everyone was gossiping, Clara was shooting a dagger at Dominic, who remained silent until the corner of his lips curled up.
