Gu Lingqiao’s gentle face suddenly turned ferocious, leaving the Third Prince dumbfounded. The weak and pitiful lady just turned into a shrew in an instant; the transformation was too rapid.

Third Prince: "Gu... Miss Gu, this... ."

In her excitement, Gu Lingqiao couldn’t care less, continuing to berate the steward relentlessly: "You old fool, have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror, using a puddle of urine? What kind of freak are you? How dare you, a toad, dream of eating swan meat, thinking of marrying me."

The steward felt a great sense of satisfaction. Haven’t you been trying to frame me all along? This is what it means to suffer from your own doing: "Miss Gu, isn’t this the outcome you wanted?"

Gu Lingqiao, flushed with anger, said, "Pah, you old fool, get as far away from me as possible. A servant like you, ugly, old, and poor, actually dares to dream of marrying me. You’re not even fit to carry my shoes, and you talk about marriage. If you’re not disgusted, I am."

Steward: "Miss Gu, have you forgotten? You’ve been harassed by a villain before, and no other man would dare to marry you. I’m doing this for your reputation."

Upon hearing this, Gu Lingqiao’s heart skipped a beat. Right, how could she forget this! It was all this old fool’s fault, after eating duck heads for ten days, her mind wasn’t sharp anymore.

"Tch, you lousy old fool, looking like you’re half-dead, and you think you can harass me? I was just teasing you." After this, she left angrily with her maid without even acknowledging the Third Prince.

The Third Prince and his men were left stunned. What kind of situation is this? What lady would joke about her own reputation?

The Third Prince looked at Gu Lingqiao’s departing figure, then at the steward, barely able to speak: "This... this... ."

The steward’s hands were still held by the Third Prince’s two men, and he struggled forcefully: "Let go of me."

The Third Prince waved his hand and said, "Release him."

The steward, gaining his freedom, stood up.

The Third Prince still hadn’t figured out what happened. He asked the steward, "What is going on here?"

The steward replied irritably, "Didn’t you see? I was being framed."

Situ Dieer laughed and said, "Don’t be angry, steward. The Third Prince was also deceived by that young lady, thinking she was being harassed."

The Third Prince still looked bewildered: "That young lady just now was pretending?"

Situ Dieer said, understandingly, "The Third Prince has been staying up in the mountains for too long, unaware that the young ladies in the Capital are very cunning."

The steward flexed his arms, feeling displeased with the Third Prince, but being just a servant, and the Third Prince being a royal family member, he dared not offend him or bring trouble to the Prince. So he nonchalantly asked, "May I ask what brings the Third Prince here today?"

Before the Third Prince could speak, Situ Dieer said, "After returning to the Capital, the Third Prince hasn’t visited the Prince yet, so he came today for that purpose. Unfortunately, the Prince is not at the mansion."

Visit? The steward glanced at the Third Prince and his men; they were all empty-handed. Did they get this wrong? Visiting empty-handed? And he is a Prince! Doesn’t even know basic courtesy.

Though the other side held a noble status, he was just a steward of the War Prince’s Mansion and dared not say anything.

The Third Prince wandered around the War Prince’s Mansion but, not seeing the principal person, felt it was pointless and left with his servants to return to his residence.

The steward stood at the door, watching their departing backs, and murmured to himself: "It’s really strange, how did the Third Miss from the Situ Mansion get involved with the Third Prince?"
