"What does it mean?"

"It means the War Prince has feelings for you, the Princess Consort is jealous, and their relationship is now strained."

"Tch, that ugly monster, who cares about him? Just looking at him makes me want to puke. I can’t understand why that little cheap person, Situtu Xueer, is so fond of him. Isn’t he just an ugly being?"

"It’s not like you truly care for him; we are doing all this for the master’s plan."

"But that damned Birdy always causes trouble whenever it sees me." Gu Lingqiao recalled Xiao Jiu and felt a surge of anger. Initially, she thought the bird was fascinating and fun, but now she wishes she could skin it and eat it to vent her spite.

"It’s just a bird, why bother with it?" The old maid dismissed the issue; if she wanted, a small stone could easily end that little bird’s life, not worth worrying about.

However, Gu Lingqiao always humiliated her in public places, and now, the bird gave her an opportunity to vent her frustration, making her secretly rejoice.

"Look what it did to my makeup today." Gu Lingqiao fumed, muttering to herself, "Thankfully the master isn’t here, otherwise if he saw this, it would be so embarrassing."

The old maid sneered; Gu Lingqiao’s thoughts were well-known, yet she dreamed of getting close to the master.

What was the master’s status compared to hers? Such a delusion.

As night fell, darkness blanketed everywhere, and lanterns were hung in various courtyards of the residence.

Gu Lingqiao deliberately asked the old maid to invite Long Rui over for a meal.

In less than Half a Cup of Tea’s time, Long Rui arrived with the steward.

"Brother Rui, come over quickly, Lingling has prepared lots of delicious food for you." Gu Lingqiao stood up promptly upon seeing Long Rui enter and called out.

The table was filled with numerous dishes, which surprised Long Rui greatly; wasn’t the steward supposed to prepare just a few dishes for her daily?

The table was laden with delicacies; the meal was certainly on par with what he, a Prince, had.

Long Rui glanced towards the steward.

The steward silently shook his head, implying that, Prince, it truly was none of his doing; he only prepared duck heads and a dish of greens daily for her and dared not let a third dish appear on her table.

The table being filled with delicacies puzzled the steward too; which little rascal dared provide extra meals to this woman behind his back?

He would skin them once uncovered.

Gu Lingqiao: "Prince, why are you standing there? Hurry up and sit down."

The steward finally couldn’t hold back and asked in confusion, "Miss Gu, where did these dishes come from?"

Gu Lingqiao smiled smugly, "Why do you care so much? Anyway, it’s not yours."

The steward’s face turned displeased, and he said, "These dishes are of unknown origin; how can they be served to the Prince? If they are poisoned, who would be responsible?"

Gu Lingqiao, feeling guilty, hesitated upon hearing this, her eyes flickering, then she tilted her face up coyly to Long Rui, "Brother Rui, the steward is going too far, he actually claims Lingling poisoned you."

She ended with tugging his arm playfully, "You know Lingling isn’t that kind of person."

Long Rui nodded, saying, "This king grew up with Lingling; naturally, I know Lingling’s nature isn’t bad. Steward, you go out first; let this king have a good meal with Lingling."

The steward looked at Long Rui with concern, anxiously exclaiming, "Prince!"

Long Rui spoke coldly, "Leave now."

Steward: "But this...!"

Gu Lingqiao smiled triumphantly at the steward and said arrogantly, "Brother Rui told you to scram, didn’t you hear?"

The steward had no choice but to leave dejectedly.

"Tch! Trying to fight Miss Gu, you’re too inexperienced for that!" Gu Lingqiao spat in the direction of the steward’s retreating back, but quickly realized Long Rui was watching, so she turned around and flashed a sweet smile at him.
